Derek was enjoying the view as they flew through the air. The entirety of the large school looked like a small city.
A little while later, the vehicle began to descend. Derek didn't have to wonder why for so long because he looked around and he could see the Citadel in the front.
He could now see why it was called the Citadel, the center of the building rose high into the atmosphere, pointing to the clouds.
He didn't need any more confirmation to know that this was where they were headed.
The vehicle descended and stopped in a white line right in front of the Citadel. Maya swiped a card in front of the panel that looked like a car dashboard. There was ping sound and a green light flashed indicating the success of the payment, then the door slid open and they both jumped out.
Derek watched the vehicle rise into the air and zoom off.
"This is…" Maya started
"The Citadel" Derek completed. Maya smiled. For someone who didn't talk much, he must be impressed or so she thought.
Derek began to walk towards the entrance, that was all the incentive Maya needed, she followed suit to the entrance of the Citadel and they both walked through the large doors.
"This is one of the most impressive buildings in this school" Maya commented as they began strolling into the Citadel. "And most importantly, this is where the competition is going to take place"
Derek was quite interested now, he led the way into the Citadel with Maya trailing behind wanting to take the whole sight all in at once.
"This building is rumored to have many secret rooms and hidden compartments. You know what they say about the walls?"
Derek nodded slightly in response 'the walls have ears'
"Yeah" Maya continued. "In this place, the walls really do have ears"
"The most important part of the Citadel is the big stage, anything important is usually held there and it can be divided into smaller compartments mechanically.
So much detail was put into the building of the Citadel, so it is mostly controlled from the control room by a set of engineers. I've seen them make a whole room move"
Derek was slightly impressed, but he wasn't showing it. It was nothing like the facilities at his school. It made him wonder where their funds were coming from.
"As you can also see, there are a lot of cameras. So, they can check and double check any move that is made inside this place, since it is also used to keep legendary weapons and important artefacts"
Derek wondered why she had called them 'legendary weapons'. The phrasing had piqued his interest. "Let's go see where the weapons are kept" Derek said, sounding more of a demand than a suggestion.
"There is only so close we can get, as I said those things are important and are not left out in the open where anyone could just pick a piece, but anyway, we can go a little bit closer"
Maya led him down a string of corridors, with how far Derek had walked, he realized how extremely large the Citadel was. They passed a few doors without having to force their way through. But eventually, they got to a locked door.
There were two cameras at the top of the door on either side, and on the door was a panel which blinked a white light every ten seconds. It's rhythmic blinking was like a fire that was going off slowly.
"That panel is for hand prints" Maya explained as she saw that Derek's eyes were fixated on them. "Only a select few people are allowed inside that room, and the scanner only recognizes their hand print. But before that you have to put in a password" Maya pointed
Just above the scanner was another panel, a smaller one this time, there were no lights on it but the transparent panel had numbers on it going from zero to nine.
Derek moved closer to the door, he could feel his body tingling. There was definitely a strange energy radiating on the other side of that door. He could only conclude that it was the weapons. After all Maya had called them legendary, what better explanation could there be.
Derek retreated from the door and Maya followed suit, since there was no use in standing there. No one was going to open up the door for them.
Deep down, Derek wanted to see what was behind those doors, but he just had to add them to the bucket list of things he might never get to do.
Once again, Maya led the way. The tour was just starting but Derek was already enjoying every moment of it. The tingling he felt on his body already told him that he needed to get stronger.
It felt like if whatever was giving off such energy was used on him, he might be obliterated immediately.
Their next stop was at the rings where fights usually took place, after a long walk down a long corridor. The duo came face to face with another double door, though this one was not a made of reinforced steel. And the doors were wide open.
The avenue beyond the door was open to everyone, but there were still cameras outside the doors. It seemed like the school liked to monitor everything that went in in the Citadel. Most probably, except the secret rooms and whatever else was secret in the Citadel.
Entering the rings, Derek was impressed. Without seeing the other rooms in the Citadel, he could easily conclude that this was the biggest place in the building.
There were up to a dozen spaces with rectangular lines on the floor demarcating each space and an even larger circular space in the middle.
The chairs were arranged in a circular fashion round the rings in the middle. In a stadium like manner. It could easily be called a stadium as it was almost as big as a stadium.
Far off to the other end, there was a transparent glass box, where there were different types chairs from the ones that were arranged in the citadel.
"What is that place?" Derek asked.
