Chapter 5 - Whispers of Deities

In the realm of Qiandu, the ancient scriptures reveal the existence of four interconnected realms: the Celestial, Mortal, Demon, and Forsaken. However, the Book of Qiandu holds deeper secrets, shedding light on the five celestial deities who descended from the ethereal Celestial realm to safeguard the balance and prosperity of the Mortal realm.

Lord Barstavos, the embodiment of the Southern Wind, wields the power to manipulate air currents. His mastery over the wind grants him the ability to bring forth gentle zephyrs or powerful gusts, providing respite and vitality to the Mortal realm.

Lord Forza, representing the Northern Flames, commands the element of fire. Through his divine influence, he can ignite raging infernos or control the flickering flames, imparting warmth, courage, and illumination to the Mortal realm.

Deity Gesetz governs the Eastern Sea, possessing dominion over the vast waters. With her command over the tides and currents, she can calm or stir the ocean's depths. Her presence brings forth abundance, tranquility, and the ebb and flow of life to the coastal regions.

Deity Maerifa guides over the Western Lands, attuned to the powers of earth and sunlight. She possesses the ability to nurture the soil, encouraging fertile growth and bountiful harvests. Her radiance bathes the landscape in golden hues, bestowing prosperity and beauty upon the Mortal realm.

Lord Affare, the master of the Central and Lightning, harnesses the formidable forces of thunder and lightning. His control over these electrifying elements grants him the power to command storms, summon lightning bolts, and spark transformative energies within the Mortal realm.

These five deities, each aligned with a specific element, work in harmony to ensure the equilibrium and prosperity of the Mortal realm. Through their powers, they inspire awe, instill harmony, and protect the delicate balance that sustains the world of Qiandu.

'On the Pier of Jianghu'

Xing Ziao's footsteps echoed on the wooden planks as he made his way towards the Captain of Zhongxin chuan, who was overseeing some repairs on the ship. The sea breeze brushed against his face, and the scent of salt filled the air.

"Captain, may I have a moment of your time?" Xing Ziao spoke respectfully as he approached.

The Captain turned to face him, recognizing the young man who had helped them during the attack at sea. "Ah, it's you, the valiant warrior who came to our aid when we were in dire straits. What brings you here?"

"I came to inquire about the incident on the sea," Xing Ziao said, concern etched on his features. "Have you already filed a report to the king regarding the encounter with the sea demon?"

The Captain nodded solemnly. "Yes, we sent a detailed report to the king as soon as we arrived in the Kingdom of Jianghu. We were relieved to have made it back safely, and we wanted to ensure the kingdom was aware of the threat that lies out at sea."

"And what of the disappearance of the deity of the South?" Xing Ziao asked, his voice hushed.

The Captain's expression grew somber. "It's true that the deity of the South vanished without a trace around the same time as the sea demons' appearances began, but what made me confused is that, the Yuzhou Harbor and its Sea beyond is not part of the South but is within the Central Region, which means, despite the Deity of the South's disappearance, it wasn't supposed to affect some areas of the Central Region,"

Xing Ziao's brows scrunched as he pondered the Captain's words, the gears of his mind turning swiftly. "You are right, Captain," he said, his voice tinged with curiosity. "The Yuzhou Harbor and the surrounding sea are indeed part of the Central Region, and the disappearance of the Deity of the South should not directly affect these waters."

The Captain nodded, appreciating the young warrior's astute observation. "Exactly, young traveler. That is what perplexes me as well. The Deities are powerful beings, each guarding their respective region with divine energy. It is unheard of for their presence to wane without reason."

"Have there been any news or rumors about the Deity of the Central Region?" Xing Ziao inquired, hoping for any clue that might shed light on the situation.

The Captain shook his head regretfully. "I am afraid not. The knowledge of the Deities is closely guarded by the heads of each region, known only to a select few. Even we, sailors and warriors, have limited access to such information, just like what happened with the Deity of the South, It was the Southern Region's King who announced about the disappearance, which made it known to all of us."

Xing Ziao's determination deepened, understanding that he needed to gather more information and seek answers from those who held the knowledge of the Deities.

'Kuai did follow the King's messenger, he would be able to get something. I should catch up to him' he thought

"Thank you for sharing what you know, Captain," Xing Ziao said, expressing his gratitude to the captain before taking his leave. He turned away and began making his way towards the distant palace, which lay quite a distance from the pier.

Kuai, having arrived at the palace, looked at the grand structure with awe, for it was his first time entering such a magnificent place. The opulent halls and intricate designs left him mesmerized as he followed the king's messenger through the corridors.

As they entered the throne room, Kuai felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness. Standing before him was the ruler of Jianghu, King Zhang long, a figure of great power and authority. Despite being the king, he had a youthful appearance that belied his wisdom and experience. His eyes sparkled with intelligence, giving him a vibrant aura.

The messenger respectfully bowed before the king, and Kuai followed suit, lowering his head in a show of deference. The king acknowledged their presence with a warm smile and a nod, his piercing gaze taking in the two visitors.

The King's eyes sparkled with curiosity as he focused his gaze on Kuai, the young traveler from the Southern Region. Before the King's messenger could offer a formal introduction, Kuai took the initiative and spoke with unwavering confidence.

"Your Majesty, I am Sh- Xing Kuai, a humble traveler hailing from the Southern Region. Accompanied by my elder brother, who is three years my senior," Kuai stated with a respectful bow, his demeanor composed.

"However, without further ado, I come before you, seeking a direct audience, Your Majesty, for I bear a pressing question," he continued, his voice unwavering in the presence of royalty.
