Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Joyful victory

His enemy was greatly weakened, that frightening grandeur that he had always feared in the animal, was no longer so evident. She was dazzled by the massive amount of wounds that spread and increased in number the further the body came out of the water.

At some points on the body of the vine that says 'sssss' were the pointed sticks thrown by the goblin. In the middle of the creature, long cuts and bite marks caused by the mouth and claws that `it´ had. On the rest of the enemy, much larger and bloodier mouth marks caused by the intruder who entered the fight between the two.

Even if it beat the monster, the animal would not survive to be the next day. The goblin smiled at that thought, could it be considered a victory even if he died?

He didn't have time to think. With its mouth open, the vine that says 'ssssss' jumped towards her. The goblin dodged to the side making the creature go straight. At that moment the monster plunged its claws into wounds in the middle of the animal's body. He managed with all his might to hold it for mere seconds.

The enemy's tail swung to hit the goblin's side. 'He' removed his right hand from the wounds and used his arm to defend himself from the attack. He felt the impact on his bones, but he suffered no more than mild pain.

The vine that says 'sssss' used that position and circled around the monster, shortly after trying to close and arrest it. The monster was caught in the grip, but it used the fact that it was covered in wet earth to slither up and leap.

He ran for a while before turning around aware that an attack was coming. By then the animal was already gliding in the air ready to swallow the other's head. In a quick reaction, the goblin threw itself backwards onto the ground and slammed its legs into the vine's throat as it came close.

He was somehow cornered, the beast kept trying to bite him even from a distance, dangerously forcing itself closer and closer.

But what's stopping you from turning that squeeze into a chance?

He trusted the only thing he had to trust, his intelligence. He was physically weaker than the 'ssssss' vine, however his enemy became more debilitated as he spent more time and effort in the fight.

He just needed to prolong the conflict and the monster would win, for that it was necessary to keep the other immobile, but how?

'He' smiled at a foolish thought, how could even his enemy kill prey? Rolling around in them.

So he did, he spread the legs that kept the other's neck in the air. As the body's weight dropped, the goblin curled its legs as far as it could. Now it was easy for the animal to bite him, to stop it, he held the lower and upper parts of the mouth with his hands.

The vine that says 'sssss' kept trying to close its mouth and bite the unfortunate green creature, however it just failed in its attempts.

It wasn't easy to keep that way, the goblin could see the small paths where the blood passed inside his arms. The obvious little paths demonstrating how much force he was using.

Luckily he wasn't hurting. There was an uneasy feeling in both limbs, but the days spent trying to learn to use the strange human weapon had made his arms more resilient. After countless time recreating the same moves and pushing himself beyond the limit, holding that bite wasn't as challenging.

It was difficult to keep the grip on the animal's throat, he managed to move and struggle in the mud, however he was unable to let go. The air was already missing, he himself had already choked a few times. His movements getting more desperate and the hug of his legs getting stronger.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH." He screamed and it was strange that he did. The goblin didn't like to roar or scream, it was a silent creature like the forest in its quietest moments. However, just like that jungle, it also had its moments of fury "AAAAAAAAAAR."

'He' roared like never before. With more strength in his arms, he opened the mouth of the vine that makes sssssss even more. His forked tongue moving back and forth like his restless body. The animal looked directly into the goblin's eyes, it was the first time they had faced each other that way. 'He' couldn't tell what was the emotion in those eyes.

And he would never know, for the animal died ceasing all movement.

The monster won, paralyzed with this strange idea. He didn't react even when the long, heavy body fell on top of him as he spread his legs, didn't fear even with the creature's immobile mouth right next to his head.

'He' had won.

That was a strange thing, the weak conquered the strong. It wasn't natural, it shouldn't have happened, and yet it did.

'He' had won.

The monster threw the lifeless body to the side and stood up watching what it did. He touched the animal's head and maintained contact as he walked along, feeling the full length of that strange, sticky fur.

'He' had won.

Her mouth dropped open as she finally accepted this thought that kept coming back to her head even though she tried to ignore it or simply wasn't able to accept it.

He had won.

"Haha ha."

'He' had won!!

The goblin ran back and forth aimlessly, unable to keep its body still. "He" jumped and threw himself to the ground, rolled across the wet earth ignoring the pain. He acted like he was a puppy and feared no consequences.

'He' had really won!!!

"Hahahahahahaha." He couldn't keep his own voice quiet, it felt good to make that sound.

The monster lay down beside the corpse without taking the smile that occupied its face. He had never been so happy before in his entire life. His victory might seem small to other stronger beings. Battling him could be easy for other creatures who survived worse.

But none of that mattered to the goblin at that moment, not here on that floor beside the proof of his deed.

He had proven his worth.
