"So what?!" Cross spat with disdain. "What's it to you?"
"We're here to make a deal." Rhyland responded after a short pause. He was taking a gamble and he knew it. He was waiting for a sign from Cross. There must be something the other man is hiding and Rhyland is intent on finding what.
"You have nothing I want." The other man growled back. "I'm not scared of death." Cross added with bluster. He wouldn't be in this line of business if he was.
Cross looked thoroughly weathered and beaten but still suspicious. Of course, the vampire wanted the unceasing torture to end but despite everything he's been through, he still remained tight lipped. This admirable silence didn't seem like loyalty to his cause but more so that he had something he wanted to protect. After all, to find a sellsword with principles was indeed rare and laughable.
