Back in Oxford, Rhyland learned of the attack at the Edinburg facility right after a successful meeting with the Council. Inwardly a ball of nerves but outwardly cool as a cucumber, he had brought forth a compelling argument in support of Emery, all to Rhal's dismay.
In the end, the Council had decided to postpone sentencing of the man on the condition that Rhyland bring forward the true mastermind behind the killings. Of course there was also another reason why the Council was reluctant to sentence the current Emery. It simply wouldn't provide them with the satisfaction, handing a death sentence knowing that the man was not even sane. They wanted the person responsible to suffer for their crimes. In the end, someone had to pay for the killings of all these innocent werewolves. And the payment was death, a life for a life.
