Chapter 14 - Chatpter 14: Revelations

Alex stood in front of Myrine's room, his heart racing as he prepared to reveal his hidden truth. He knocked softly, and as the door opened, he was met with Myrine's bright smile.

"Alex, up and about already? What's going on?" she asked, her curiosity evident.

He returned the smile but felt a pang of nervousness. "Hey, Myr. I want to talk to you about something important."

Myrine's expression turned serious, sensing the gravity of the situation. "Of course, Alex. Come in."

As Alex stepped into her room, he felt a surge of emotions swirling within him. He had kept his abilities a secret for so long, and now he was about to expose a part of his true self.

Sitting down, he took a deep breath and began, "Myr, you know how I've been locking up myself in my room at night?"

Myrine nodded, her eyes fixed on him. "Yeah, it's been a mystery to all of us."

"I want you to know that it's not something sinister or dangerous. In fact, it's about something incredible I've discovered."

Myrine's curiosity deepened, and her gaze never wavered from his face. "What is it, Alex?"

He hesitated for a moment, then decided to take the plunge. "I've discovered a unique energy within me. I call it 'chakra.' It's not just any energy—it has extraordinary properties."

Myrine's eyes widened, a mix of astonishment and anticipation filling them. "Chakra? Like, some kind of power?"

"Yes," Alex confirmed. "And it's not limited to just manipulation. Chakra can mimic any form of energy like mana, aura, world energy etc. Chakra can also mimic something even more intriguing—a form of energy called chaos energy."

Myrine was surprised to the core by the revelations but this word, "Chaos energy" had her hooked even at the face of miraculous Chakra.

Myrine leaned forward, her curiosity turning into a thirst for knowledge. "Chaos energy? What's that?"

Alex's voice became softer, more intense. "It's dangerous energy, especially for mages who rely on mana. It can disrupt their magic circuits and even leave them incapacitated or crippled." Alex only provided limited information regarding his activities trusting his sister's understanding to not pry too much into other things.

A sudden realization dawned on Myrine, and her face shifted from curiosity to shock. "Wait... are you saying that I have this chaos energy?"

Myrine was one of the most outstanding mages of this continent, but due to being crippled left her path as a mage blocked. She cannot advance further into the great mage realm because of her legs. She also worked on magic tools to improve her worth even if she remained in the mage realm and Alex also provided her with brilliant ideas from his previous world like air conditioners and water heaters. It didn't take her long to figure out that this chaos energy might be related to her disability.

Alex nodded, his expression empathetic. "I believe so, Myr. It's not your fault. You've been affected by something beyond your control."

Tears welled up in Myrine's eyes as the weight of his words settled in. "Chaos energy... that's why... my legs..."

Alex moved closer, his voice gentle yet resolute. "Myr, I want you to know that I can help you. I've been researching and experimenting with chakra, and I'm confident I can counteract the effects of chaos energy. I can heal you."

Myrine's voice quivered as emotions overwhelmed her. "Heal me? You really think you can?"

"I'm not certain, but I want to try," Alex said earnestly. "I'll work on it during the nights, away from prying eyes. We can craft a story about your recovery, and I'll be right there with you."

Tears streamed down Myrine's face, her emotions a mix of hope, gratitude, and disbelief. "Alex, this... this means so much to me. I never thought..."

He smiled through his own welling emotions. "You're my sister, Myr. It's time I share this part of my life with you."

As the two siblings sat there, an unspoken understanding passed between them. The revelation deepened their bond, and at that moment, it was as if the world had shifted, unveiling a path toward healing and unity.

Myrine's eyes brimmed with questions, her heart eager for more understanding. "Alex, how did you discover chakra and chaos energy? And why haven't you told anyone?"

Alex's gaze turned thoughtful as he considered her inquiries. "Myr, I wish I could tell you everything, but there are certain things I can't reveal. It's not just about me; it's about protecting you too."

Myrine's brow furrowed with a hint of protest. "But we're family, Alex. I can handle it."

He offered a reassuring smile. "I know you can, Myr. But what I've discovered goes beyond our family. It could have consequences that ripple across the entire world, and not all of them might be positive."

Her expression softened, a mix of understanding and curiosity in her eyes. "I trust you, Alex. If you can't tell me everything, I'll respect your decision."

A sense of relief swept over him, and he continued, "Thank you, Myr. Just know that I'm working toward something big, something that could change our lives for the better."

Myrine's curiosity shifted to amusement as a thought crossed her mind. "So, are you like a super genius? Both physically and magically?"

Alex chuckled. "Well, I guess you could say that. Compared to mages like Mom or knights like Dad, I'm on a whole different level."

Myrine's eyes widened in disbelief. "Wait, seriously? Even Mom?"

Alex's smile widened. "Yep, seriously. But there's a reason I've been pretending to be ordinary."

Myrine leaned forward, intrigued. "And that reason is?"

"I can't let anyone know about chakra," Alex explained. "If powerful people or negative forces found out about it, they might try to exploit it or even harm us."

Myrine's eyes reflected her understanding of the gravity of the situation. "I see... so you've been protecting us by pretending to be weaker."

"Exactly," Alex affirmed. "I know it might be frustrating, but I couldn't risk anyone discovering my abilities, especially the chakra. And now that I've shared this with you, I need you to keep it a secret, Myr. It's for the safety of our family and everyone we care about."

Myrine nodded solemnly. "I understand, Alex. I won't say a word about it. Our family's safety comes first."

Alex's gaze softened, filled with gratitude for his sister's unwavering support. "Thank you, Myr. Your understanding means the world to me."

As the conversation concluded, a newfound bond of trust and unity settled between Alex and Myrine. The weight of the secrets they held brought them closer, and in their shared determination to protect their family, they found strength in each other's presence.

As the evening sun cast a warm glow over Winterhaven, Myrine's anticipation grew. The promise of her brother's revelation had ignited a spark of hope within her. She watched the sun dip below the horizon, the sky painted in hues of orange and pink. Nightfall was approaching, and with it, her meeting with Alex.

True to his word, as the moon rose high, a knock echoed on her door. Myrine's heart raced with a mix of excitement and apprehension as she opened the door to find Alex standing there, his eyes shimmering with an air of secrecy.

"Alex," she greeted him, her voice a mix of curiosity and nervousness.

"Hey, Myr," Alex responded with a small smile. "Ready?"

Myrine nodded, her resolve firm. "Yes, let's go."

They made their way through the quiet corridors of the palace, their steps echoing in the hushed atmosphere. The night was cool and serene, the stars above shimmering like distant jewels. Alex's confident stride matched Myrine's determined pace as Alex pushed the wheelchair in companionable silence.

It was when they found themselves in a secluded garden, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of nature, that Myrine finally broke the silence. "Alex, there's something I've been meaning to ask you."

Alex looked at her with an encouraging expression. "Go ahead, Myr."

Her voice carried a hint of awe as she inquired, "Have you heard about that vigilante, the one who's been capturing criminals in the capital? They call him 'The Night Phantom.' Rumour has it that he's relentless, leaving no trace of the criminals he apprehends. Not even their bodies are found."

Alex's gaze remained steady, but a flicker of hesitation passed through his eyes. "Yes, I've heard about him."

Myrine's eyes widened with realization. "Wait... could it be that you know something about him?"

Alex's lips curved into a wry smile. "Actually, Myr, I do know something about him."

She couldn't contain her curiosity any longer. "Who is he? How did he suddenly appear, and why?"

Alex's gaze held a mixture of amusement and intrigue. "Well, Myr, the Night Phantom you're talking about is none other than me."

Myrine's shock was palpable. "What? You're the Night Phantom?"

Alex chuckled at her reaction. "Yep, that's me. The one wreaking havoc on the underworld."

Myrine's astonishment slowly turned into a mix of disbelief and awe. "But... why? How?"

Alex's tone remained nonchalant. "Cleaning up Winterhaven Grand Duchy, one criminal at a time."

Myrine's voice trembled with surprise. "But... you're breaking the law, Alex!"

He shrugged casually. "Sometimes, laws can't do what needs to be done. Those criminals deserve punishment, and sometimes, punishment has to be unconventional."

Myrine's eyes studied her brother, a mixture of pride and incredulity in her gaze. "So, you've been protecting the city... secretly?"

Alex's gaze softened. "I've been trying, Myr. It's my way of contributing to our home and keeping our family safe."

Myrine's shock had transformed into a newfound respect for her brother. "I can't believe you've been doing this all along."

Alex's smile held a touch of warmth. "Well, it's not something I parade around. But you should know, Myr, that your little brother isn't just a bookworm."

She chuckled softly. "Clearly not. You're like a knight in disguise."

"More like a vigilante in a cloak," Alex added with a playful grin.

As they shared a moment of lightheartedness, Myrine's heart felt lighter. In the midst of secrets and revelations, a deeper connection had formed between them. And as they stood under the starlit sky, the weight of their shared truths only seemed to strengthen the bond between brother and sister.
