Before you start reading the story, I wanted to give a small explanation of my plan for it.
First, while this story will only be set in the Harry Potter universe, I am also using it as a setup for a character who will travel to other universes.
You will see this in the beginning when I mention different kinds of energy, but this story is about a mage, so we will mainly talk about mana.
Now onto the next part, you will notice that I mentioned Keepers. While I will explain them in the story, here is a short explanation.
There are three Keepers for each kind of energy (mana, life energy, and soul energy). Their role is to travel the universe and gather knowledge on how their kind of energy is used, such as different systems of magic, and preserve that knowledge to spread it. However, this doesn't mean that a Keeper would be able to use all the knowledge they gather. They might be able to use some of it, but they will mostly rely on the power from the system they were born into. They might also create spells and attacks inspired by other systems, although many systems will be similar enough.
Now, the last part is about how Homo-magi, or magical beings, work in this universe, specifically their relationship with mana.
The best way to explain it is to imagine the body of a magus as a balloon and mana as water, with the soul of the magus being the source. The balloon can be filled with water, but there is a limit. Although the balloon can't be made bigger, there are still ways to have more mana inside the body, such as making the mana denser. However, there is a limit to this as well. If the density of mana becomes too high, the human body would simply explode because it can't hold that much mana. It should be noted that this limit can vary from human to human.
As for ways to increase mana, it is mostly done by using a lot of magic, but there are faster methods as well.
I wanted to provide a clear explanation of how characters acquire more mana and what the limits are, although the amount of energy won't be as important as the skill they possess when using it.
Now, onto a few details about the story. This is an alternative universe (AU) in which I will try to make the magical world even more magical. The biggest change is the inclusion of other races like dwarfs and gnomes, with some of them even studying at Hogwarts.
Another important aspect is how magic is performed. Enchanted items will play a significant role. Instead of the Tempus Charm that frequently appears in fanfiction, there will be watches that tell you the accurate time, show the date, and provide the position of the planets, among other things. Diagnostic charms will be replaced by a steampunk-looking machine that prints out results on parchment. Brooms and enchanted cars will be the preferred means of transportation, surpassing apparition and portkeys. I hope you understand—I don't want to spoil everything.
Now, let's move on to the story. I will likely follow the first three books to some extent because even though the main character is a Self-Insert (SI), they don't remember all the details of the original story. Additionally, as an eleven-year-old, there is only so much they can do. Despite having access to a lot of knowledge, they need time to learn, and they lack any fighting experience. So, it will be a story about the main character making friends and learning magic together with them.
There will be two main plotlines. The first one involves Voldemort, while the second one will remain a secret. The second plotline will start during the first but will conclude long after Voldemort's defeat
.
Okay, I've talked enough. Thank you for reading, and now let's dive into the story.
