Chapter 38 - The Trial

Elijah continued to walk for a few more minutes, then hours after a few more, the light slowly faded. "What the hell am I supposed to do here? Weirdly I wished that Otto was here so that he could explain this crap or find some dam meaning of this trial," Elijah added in a somber tone. Elijah was about to use a spell but realized he couldn't even use spirituality. "Great, can't get any…..yeah, I won't finish that sentence. Why is this place so dark? if I came here with a lantern, shouldn't there be more? "….is the lantern some trial itself? no, that wouldn't make much sense. There's nothing special about it, I gotta think." After a few moments, Elijah started to hear tapping on the floor. He looked back but saw nothing he could still hear some movements, but they didn't sound human. ELijah slowly started to walk backward when the tapping sound came closer (What the hell! I don't have any dam spells, and I don't know what the hell I'm evening fighting ). Elijah grimaced. he was about to run but heard something. "…y… you…are not him….you are not Elijah…..what did you do to me!" a voice cried. Elijah was then hit with a burst of cries, and he fell to the floor, grabbing his ears, ready to rip them off. The lantern light started to get a little dimmer, "Why Did you take my body? Why!" a voice yelled. Elijah's head was bursting with pain, and he rolled over, crying in pain. "WHY!""Why""WHY!""WHY!""WHY!!!!" the voice screamed even louder. The glass windows broke, and the glass shards fell onto ELijah. Some missed him, but some cut him. A black oze slowly flowed out from his nose. The lantern flame grew dim Elijah tried to crawl away but he was hit again by another shard of glass but these held weight to them, he looked up his vision hazy. He saw the fallen that he had killed every one of them. The chief informant spoke somberly, "You, human, why? Why? We were living our lives. Why did you kill us?" "OH, Please don't try to play a fucking victim. I was trapped in that dam den, trying to survive. I was chased down and killed a few times, and your people were going to burn me alive. I did what I did to survive! I killed to survive in that blasted den. If you wanna kill me, then come. I'm sick of you fucking people…i just want to go back to the others" ELijah snarled. The fallen and that voice or the creature of that voice came closer to Elijah he was about to die yet he didn't feel anything, why was that?. Elijah then added in a cold tone."I don't care how long it takes me to pass this fucking trial; I will clear it, even if it means killing all of you with my bare hands!" he yelled. He got up then dashed towards the chief through a barrage of fists unto the fallen. It didn't fight back. he then attacked the rest, somehow he managed to tear on of the fallen apart with his bear hands. Black blood sprayed on him, but he didn't care. He just wanted to clear the trial, gain an oath to protect his memories of the church, and then figure out how he got here and regained his memories. The flame grew a bit brighter than it once was. Elijah glanced at the lantern, and then he smiled. " looks like I was wrong. The lantern is special…..it acts like my soul. It was dim at the start because I was kinda lost. I didn't know if I belonged to this world. I had so many questions to ask but no one to answer them; the reason why I even wanted an oath in the first place was to protect myself ….it was also to find who the Black Blood aesthetic cult was. " but during the spar with Bargi, I thought I had figured out what I wanted not to return home but to protect these people I had come to care for but I guess like I was wrong…this trial existed as a way to strengthen my will power, the fallen here are just things that might try to make me stray from my path…but what path exactly is it?" Elijah brushed himself off and then kept walking. nothing happened for a while until he heard a female voice, "Hey Elijah!" Amala's voice said cheerfully. "Amala? why are you here?" Elijah added in a shakey voice, and his expression went pale. He then walked closer, and the figure of Amala came to view a short, curly brunette with hazel eyes. She was in a sun dress, and her eyes were eerily milky.(How? Why? Is she here?....where am I?) ELijah had lost himself. "Let's go back to the church, okay!" the figure came closer and then wrapped itself into Elijah's arm, giving him a gentle hug. "you don't have to try so much ELijah….we are strong enough to protect ourselves. We can still live those happy memories…you don't have to suffer anymore, Elijah " Amala gently cruised his cheek. The lantern grew a little dim. His hands started to feel a bit cold. He released the lantern from his grip. "I hated it; I hated how weak I felt. I just wanted to protect the memories I have…i don't know who I am or what I am ..Amala I'm scared…"Elijah's eyes turned a dim blue. (Who was I in the first place?, what was my old self like?…do I even want to become my old self again?...) "Elijah…if you want to stay with us, then all you have to do is simply stop…fate will no longer harm you. Everyone at the church cares for you, ELijah…please stop." Eljah's body shook slightly. He hugged Amala tightly, and then his grip on the lantern was realised it fell to the floor. The lantern was almost cracked Amala started to walk towards her. steps were calm and steady the morning sun Hit against his dim eyes, a smile appeared on his face "i might have wanted an oath to protect them but, was their even a chance that I could have protected an entire church?….now I feel kind of stupid saying that". Elijah smiled faintly, realized Amala from his grip, and walked along with her. "I give up, Amala…i might have survived the den but….i don't want to risk it all again, I hated going through that. I missed you guys." Tears started to flow from his eyes, and his face paled even more; Amala smiled at him "Come in, guys! Lady Simon is cooking something," Edmund yelled; Seliena rushed inside, and so did the others, Even him. he entered the church and added in a soft, somber tone, "This is the life I want...i want to live with these people, I want to work with them, I want to help them…..it was my mistake for even wanting an oath in the end trying to go down that path had only led me to pain….I give up. "I don't care…I want to live with them…I don't want to suffer anymore….I don't want to die anymore." More tears flowed down as he walked through the long halls painted with the light of the day. He followed the laughter into a grand hall with food on the table for everyone. Elijah sat at the end in front of him, where there was a variety of fruits and meat. There were mutton chops, lamb, and chicken. He was about to pick up a fork but was stopped by Elliot "What are you doing?" He asked in a soft voice. "Bargi needs to bless the food first," he said. Bargi was at the other end of the table while Elliot sat near him. Bargi got up from his seat, clasped his hands, and then prayed. "to the heavenly kings that walk the path of war, bless us with your strength and divinity and grant us a blessed meal." After he said that, everyone grabbed a fork, including Elijah….but he felt as though something was eating at him….he couldn't quit describing this feeling. He ignored it and then counted to eat. Edmund was the first to finish his meal, Seliena, Daly Elliot, and Elijah; Amala still had some left, and so did Simon. She conversed deeply with Bargi and the others still at the table. He stayed at the table; however, he added to the conversation. It went back and forth, kinda like a saw. Someone picked up the broken lantern. The light was all gone, but…. Elijah and the rest talked and played games after that a night was gone and the next morning he did the same thing he didn't train any skills nor practice any language, he spent sometime with Seliena they even entered a local cooking competition. the day ended and began again A figure with a broken lantern got closer. Elijah was at the table, and the same foods were in front of him The figure got closer Elijah ate the mutton chops The figure got closer He finished the dish and then added in a house voice, "Thank you for the good food, Simon. Can you show me the" Before he could finish the sentence, a hand went through Elijah's chest. The others showed no reaction Simon smiled, then added, "Sure, I can show you the recipe, but it will cost you," she added with a chuckle The lights in ELijahs eyes were gone they laughed He was dead They kept on talking among themselves as if they didn't see Elijah get a hole punched through him Then the figure added in a house voice, "…What the ….who…who- what?….." the space despaired Elijah's corpse followed along.
