Chapter 6 - 6: End of the snow beast

Gao Qiang left the supermarket and walked towards the sound of the snow beast roaring. Along the way, he encountered many people. Everyone was out searching for supplies. At this time, these people were still maintaining social order, knocking on the doors of various shops one after another. What amused Gao Qiang, even more, was that, at this moment, an old man's small store was still selling instant noodles at a high price. Seeing the money being earned, Gao Qiang couldn't help but smile.

Glancing at the meager supplies, he wasn't interested in grabbing them. His footsteps didn't halt as he rushed towards the location where the snow beast roared. The snow beast's roar grew louder and filled with anger, indicating its current state of rage. Gao Qiang's face became increasingly solemn, and his heart grew calmer. The snow beast's condition could only mean that it was seriously injured.

Soon, Gao Qiang stumbled upon the body of a policeman. Next to it, he noticed a scattered pistol, devoid of bullets. Gao Qiang felt some pity for these policemen who were still fighting the snow beasts to protect the citizens. However, they were unaware that pistol bullets only caused minimal damage to the snow beast. Their actions were akin to sending themselves to death.

Gao Qiang continued his hurried pace, encountering more and more corpses along the way. Among the fallen were both police officers and ordinary people. The snow beast didn't discriminate based on identity when it attacked. Gunshots rang out again, indicating that there were still police officers present.

Gao Qiang quickly rushed towards the source of the gunfire. "Roar!" This was it! Gao Qiang deduced that the snow beast was at the intersection ahead. He hastily followed the roadside bunker, advancing towards the front. After turning a corner, Gao Qiang caught sight of the snow beast right in front of him.

The snow beast was entirely snow-white, with a round head, a round body, and a hairy exterior. It appeared quite cute. If it were smaller, many girls would likely want to adopt it as a pet. However, at this moment, this adorable snow beast roared angrily. Blood dripped from its bloodstained mouth. Its seemingly soft front paws gripped a Paramela and hurled it forward, where several police officers were positioned.

Now, these officers were clearly cornered. Though they still held guns, their ability to harm the snow beast was limited. Gao Qiang frowned as he observed them. It was no wonder this snow beast had not been killed for so long. Only a handful of police officers were dealing with it. Despite their bravery and combat experience, it was evident that there were issues when it came to killing this snow beast. The problem lay not with the people, but with their weapons. Pistol shots barely harmed the snow beast, making it difficult to eliminate.

Gao Qiang hid in the shadows, watching as the policemen fought the snow beast, waiting for an opportunity to strike. Despite its large size, the snow beast was surprisingly swift in its attacks. Soon, several policemen found themselves cornered. The snow beast, agile on the snow, roared furiously and charged at the officers, seemingly determined to tear them apart for daring to hurt it.

"Bang, bang, bang, bang!" The police officers fired continuously, fending off the snow beast's assault. However, the shooting abruptly ceased; they had run out of bullets. "Withdraw!" someone shouted, but their retreat was slower than that of the snow beast.

Gao Qiang, wielding a pistol he snatched from An Ning's hand, took action. As soon as he made his move, he immediately caught the snow beast's attention. Gao Qiang emerged from the shadows and holstered the pistol, drawing his own black-gold ancient knife. The pistol was too powerful to harm the snow beast.

Upon seeing Gao Qiang, the surrounding policemen grew anxious. "Young man, run! This monster is extremely fierce!" "Hurry, please leave this place to the police!" "Quick, let us handle it. You stay out of here!"...

In the face of their kind intentions, Gao Qiang understood. However, this snow beast was determined to kill him. Gao Qiang had already realized that despite its ferocity, the snow beast had lost a substantial amount of blood and was nearing the end of its strength.

The snow beast, feeling provoked by Gao Qiang's gaze, roared and lunged at him. Fearless, Gao Qiang charged forward with his black gold ancient knife in hand. He swiftly dodged the snow beast's claws and delivered a precise slash to its leg. Onlookers were stunned.

The bullets failed to pierce the snow beast's skin, yet Gao Qiang's black-gold ancient knife left a wound from which blood flowed. "What kind of knife is this?" someone exclaimed. "Roar!" The snow beast roared, enraged by the injury it sustained. Its anger propelled it to strike at Gao Qiang, its powerful claws creating a whistling wind that stung Gao Qiang's cheeks.

However, the snow beast repeatedly failed to land a hit on Gao Qiang's body. Each time, he deftly dodged and left a wound on the snow beast's body. In these trying times, Gao Qiang had encountered countless monsters, and the snow beast was one he knew well. Despite its fierce appearance, its intelligence was limited, and its attack methods were few. With familiarity, evading its attacks became easy.

As time passed, the snow beast's movements slowed due to its injuries. Meanwhile, Gao Qiang grew bolder in the battle, gradually pressing the snow beast. With a loud thud, the towering body of the snow beast collapsed, surrendering to defeat.

Witnessing this, Gao Qiang approached the snow beast's head and struck it with his black gold ancient knife. He retrieved a snow-white bead, about the size of a walnut, from the snow beast's head. It was the beast's core, where the snow beast stored its energy. In these dire times, the beast's core was a valuable source of energy.

The nearby policemen, realizing that the snow beast was dead, cautiously approached. Gao Qiang remained vigilant, defensively holding his posture. Some policemen came closer, eyeing him warily. The display of Gao Qiang's strength made it clear that he was no ordinary person.

"Young man, who are you?" asked a middle-aged man with a square face. Gao Qiang looked at him coldly and retorted, "Are you the police?" Guozi retrieved his identification from his pocket, glanced at Gao Qiang, and said, "I'm Li Xiang, the captain of the Jinghai City Public Security Bureau. What's your name?" "Gao Qiang," he replied.

Li Xiang nodded and said, "You've got impressive skills. Have you received training?" Gao Qiang nodded, acknowledging it. Otherwise, explaining his abilities would be more challenging. Li Xiang smiled and commented, "You're very brave. Even with everyone around fleeing, you dared to confront and kill the monster."

Gao Qiang sneered, "The end is near. There's no escaping it. Only through fighting can one survive." Li Xiang's expression changed, and he asked in confusion, "The end is near? What do you mean?" Gao Qiang's eyes revealed a hint of bitterness. "The world is about to be destroyed. This isn't just a monster invasion; it's an apocalypse."
