Chereads / My Deathless System / Chapter 49 - 49. What worse will happen!

Chapter 49 - 49. What worse will happen!

He was nervous, fingers rubbing against the worn-out bedroll he brought for himself.

I fixed him with my stare.

"I swear, I heard it from them" he panicked again, then proceeded further to explain. "I heard when our teacher was talking with another one"

"what did they say?" I asked.

he gulped hard looking around but found no other than me in the tent.

"The elite students, from noble families, tailed last night" He repeated. "They even said the main gate was closed for everyone"

I remained silent. I knew the gate had closed for everyone but what I did not understand was, why did they say they tailed away? It was not like everyone is imprisoned here right? And saying the students ran away opens up a whole new chapter.

They could have said they went away for a quest or something but no, they said that directly means those who ran were not planning to return. The scary fact above all was the runners were all nobles!

Those fuckers never do this kind of thing unless water has risen above their heads.

I planned to spend my free time sleeping around but after getting this news my heart will strangle me to death if I dare to laze around.

I strolled the entire site to the training ground. Tried to hear the conversations of the disciples and teachers but found absolutely nothing.

I needed information from a valid source, above all else, and had to ease the worry inside my heart.

I have been training for a week yet there was no quest in my system, what does that mean? I know the system behaves pretty weirdly but this was alarming!

[...]

No reply from the system regarding the things around me. Why is that? Should I be afraid? But for what?

I closed my eyes forcibly, I need to sleep or else tomorrow will be problematic for me. I rolled around to the side, trying to count the sheep... One sheep, two sheep, and three sheep...

Who cares about tomorrow? And what worse will happen huh? I escaped from ice money, fought my way out from the deadly tomb, killed a notorious bear, and even killed the Bandit chief who strikes fear in the hearts of many.

It's not like I am afraid of anything, Just go ahead and Bring it on!

* * *

The sound of clashing of swords resounded, and glints of light appeared and disappeared followed by screams and cries.

The beasts ran amok in the mob of recruits killing them with each blow, painting the snow in dark red color that even night had failed to suppress.

Fireballs blasted around with spikes of ice and earth chunks flying around hitting people here and there.

There stood a lone boy holding a red blade in his hands speechless.

What worse will happen?

Noah remembered the words he said before going to sleep that got disturbed by the sudden invasion of another Academy.

Another fireball banged onto the Academies defense wall sending chunks of debris flying around.

Everywhere Noah saw was death and destruction. The so-called heaven favorite Lark lay motionless, eyes wide and ice spike piercing through his open mouth.

Outside of the Academy, beneath the foot of a mountain, a lady in a black suit revealed a hint of excitement in her craving eyes.

The few people stood on guard, by her side as she tied her darkish long hair behind her in slow motion, taking her time to see the rising flames from the Academy in front of her.

The small town where they stood was all eradicated and people were mercilessly slaughtered, the buildings were on fire and some were crumbling down as time passed.

Behind the large group, a few disciples wearing blue uniforms pulled the dead bodies of town men and stacked them up in the square cropping up a large mountain of corpses in one place.

One mage waved his hand burning the pile before heading back to report to the lady. He bowed and whispered his message as a smile spread across her beautiful face.

"where is my son?" She asked in her delicate voice.

"Madam! The young master just went ahead" her subordinate replied.

She sighed, stretching herself. Her bust clad in a tight suit tempted many eyes but no one dared to risk their life for it.

"Let's go, it's time," She said.

The Bluish large wolf pounced on Noah forcing him to dive away from the creature. Noah stumbled away as the creature flowed to bite another head off with his powerful bite force.

[ Name - Blue Wolf ( Tamed)

Level - 14 ]

Noah stared at the status screen unblinkingly. The creature right before his eyes was a tamed beast, a pet who was controlled by a human. There was no precise knowledge he got from the panel as he used to after analyzing the panel of the tamed beast.

Noah cursed in his mind, moving away only to be blown away by the fireball which erupted near him. He slides a meter or so before getting back on his foot.

He couldn't help but stammer as his gaze roamed around to evade any potential threat, it was now a large battleground where anyone could jump and try to harm him so he had to stay on his wits.

The disciples from an unknown Academy were all strong individuals near at least ten levels and the max he had seen yet was near twenty-five level one of the Ice mages who slain the Lark.

The panel was wide open in front of Noah's face. The quest he had gotten from the system was no different from the previous one.

[ Ding! Random quest triggered.]

[ Quest - Escape the crisis!

Reward - 5000 exp! ]

Noah gulped hard. The reward was tempting but above all else he understood the significance behind it. This was gonna be a hell of a problem for him. That was why the system dared to offer this amount of Experience points in one go.

His eyes settled on the broken open walls, there was his destiny. Noah inhaled and then ran for it, avoiding bunches of people on his path and at the same time keeping his pace.

A guy in blue uniform stood in his way with a nasty smile. He had a double edge axe as he swung, Noah whisk past him swiftly decapitating him along the way.

"Idiot!" Noah continued running the same way and soon enough caught up with the perimeter of the broken wall where once a large gate stood.

His eyes widened at the scene. The small town was in flames and the adversaries had encircled and camped all exits. There was no way out.

"You see there is no way out" A guy with white hair whispered from behind, Naoh jumped a few steps in caution.

He had not felt any moment behind him, forget about feeling any presence. The guy in front of him ignored Noah as his main focus was on the people ascending the stairs leisurely.

The guy's nose and mouth were hidden beneath black clothing around his neck merely his blue eyes were visible to him.

[ Name - Fen-rin white (Wolf)

Level - 27

Age - 21

Race - Human

- This will finish sooner than I expected. ]

Noah blinked, reading every possible detail from the panel. His title before his name was wolf, Noah did not understand the fact why they named him a Wolf but he did not dare to entertain the idea.

The person in front of him was twenty-one years old and yet managed to reach level twenty-seven! It was not an easy feat unless he was a genius.

The white hair hovered with a gust of wind but his deep gaze did not weave neither he cared that Noah could try to strike him while he stood there. He simply did not care.

"You will be killed if you take a step out of this zone" He said, "Turn back and survive for a while till your dean step out for negotiations"

His constant gaze dripped down on his blue uniform.

Noah carefully stepped back but halted his moments hearing a gentle voice.

"My, did I say you looked fantastic in that outfit?" The lady in a black tight suit stepped matching his gaze, and a few men stood behind her. "Were you here to greet me? I am impressed"

"Don't flatter yourself," Fen replied. "I am bored"

She bent close to him leaving space of a few fingers apart as she was on the high ground of the broken wall.

"Aren't you talking to that guy over here?" She beamed at Noah, and Noah faltered. "Hi there! Are you a friend of this handsome, over here?"

Noah remained silent, unable to find the right answer. If he were to say anything indignant to the lady in front he knew he'd die in no time.

"You are quiet, I don't like that" She dashed at Noah at incredible speed and before he could take a step back multiple gashes were formed all over his body.

The blood sprayed all around her body and face but the smile never left her lips.
