I got plenty of loot from these guys, nearly two thousand gold coins. Honestly, all the other guys were broke but the chief carried quite a good sum with him.
I ate my share of food and stored important stuff inside like a cheese wheel, and rabbit legs. Cheese wheels sell for nearly a hundred coins and are weighted three kgs per wheel, Cant stuff more even if I want to.
The sky began darkening, it was almost nighttime. It will be difficult to make my way back in the dark surroundings so I decided to camp here in the tomb.
I went to the chief's tent and sat on his bed roll. It was comfortable. It would be better if I stuff this inside my inventory for me and the old man.
Our bedrolls back at home were not as comfortable as these and not fluffy enough. We certainly tried to order from the shopkeeper but he said it's long sold out and will have to wait till he visits back to the city. I hope the old man had not paid him in advance to get this stuff from the city.
[ Bedroll. (3 kg )
Value - 150 gold coins ]
It weighed three kg and if I carry two fine-looking bedrolls that will be six kg. Damn!
I also thought about gobbling this huge tent but that will overload me and I would have to leave many things here to clear more space.
I also chose to leave weapons behind, Either way, the quality of weapons was not high enough if I disregard that heavy hammer and Chief's heavy gears which won't fit me.
They all were nearly seven hundred gold coins if I added everything up but can't do anything about it.
[ Character. Skills. Inventory.
- Character
Name - Noah Stone
Level - 13 ( 3670 / 8500)
Age -16
Race - Human
Perk point - 3 ]
I checked my character panel.
I got thousands of exp points after my first slave contract, it was a one-time reward and I don't think the system will give me any extra points hereafter. It's kinda stingy!
One perk point has been used. Frankly speaking, I was planning to use them if my battle had been
dragged on for long. The Bandit chief was not an easy opponent and with my current physical state, it was impossible to manhandle a brute like him.
Shoot! How can I forget I have Red Blade with me? It surely would have put me in an advantageous position in battle as long as that brute did not one-shot me.
I remember the jumping strike which makes the earth tremble. He had that kind of power to carry that jackass hammer and also match the speed of the swordsmen.
I built a fire Campfire near the tent so I could stay warm and scouted the area before making my way back into the tent. I also gave My dear Lich the work that he treasures, taking care of corpses inside the tomb.
I ordered Ark to throw these fuckers out of the tomb so his past life's revenge would be complete and I don't have to sleep near corpses.
Killing two birds with one stone.
He gasped for air as he dragged the brute by his leg, it was quite ironic. I mean why does he need to take a breath in the first place? Unless that damn skeleton was trying to get sympathy from me.
After completing his assigned work he lay flat beside me as if he picked up loads of trash. His chest beneath the black robe heaved up and down.
I shook my head, opening the pages of the Journal.
I told him off and he disappeared in thin air as if he never existed in the first place.
[ Ark - Resting.... ]
The window popped in front of my vision.
I flipped pages of the journal, majorly looking less interested in his daily routine to find more about the important pieces of information like locations of treasures and ways to make easy gold coins but found none.
He wrote all about his journey, from the green plains of the South to the hellish lands of the North.
He was ousted from those lands for failing his task of stealing an incredible weapon from the academy's treasury and then his fellow bandits threw him out for being weak and useless.
Was he weak? He seemed strong to me. I should focus on the main topic.
He was living inside the Tomb for a year and was planning to plunder the local village in the upcoming months. The village of Stormfront.
His men seemed to have scouted the village beforehand and were keeping tabs to see who comes and goes. What I found amusing was there was mention of my name in the journal, the lookout list or say major threats to their agenda.
There were several names but mine was above everyone, Noah the Bear Slayer... Sounds like Beast Slayer Scott to me. The incident of the bear went down on his pages like this...
Today my scout briefed they finally managed to kill the bear that threatened their village with the help of a guy named Noah. They say he was strong and reliable... We will see when we will meet face-to-face how strong he is... The Empire has unofficially forsaken the village just like the mysterious master said and that's why it seems they never dispatched people to defend them. It's vulnerable now and This was my chance to prove to my fellows my worth. I will get many supplies, food, and women, enough to spend my days out here hiding in the tomb. There will be no aftermath if I followed his terms. No punishment for slaughtering all the people and raping women and even if he goes back to his word he cannot find me out here in the wild. This world is vast after all. Furthermore, I long desired the taste of women so naturally, I would have taken the dangers.
What's more, my men said Village has plenty of darlings like the one who serves drinks in the tavern and the one who runs the shop, and the ladies who wash clothes near the river edge. They will all belong to us, me and my men...
I closed the Journal. Shocked and confused.
What was that? He was planning to attack Stormfront and some expert told him to do it.? How the heck did he know the empire had forsaken the village unless that person belongs to the empire itself?
The thing he wrote! 'One who serves the drink' was that about Astride?
Whatever their agenda was, it was now all messed up because of me. Thankfully I wiped out these dorks before they did something terrible. I cannot even imagine a picture of a burning Stormfront, it made me uneasy. I have spent two years in the village so intrinsically, I would have come to their aid but what if they would have pounced on me while I was away and without any clue?
Even if somehow I had managed to come while the attack raged on, what chances were there that I could have dealt with them without any casualties? No injuries?
They had several men, men who were ready to kill and rob another without a thought, and the other side the people who want to live their life in peace.
That would have been a catastrophe.
The main threat was dealt with but what about those who are working in the shadows and keeping an eye on the village? Certainly, they will act on their accord after they find the dead bodies of their comrades.
I have to go back and kill those flies before they do something but moving out at this hour was not a good idea. I don't think they will make a move now unless they confirm the death of their leader first. They have to come here to do that and I will take them out if I find them wandering around while on my way back to the village.
First thing first, I will take a rest, and the next morning head back to the village.
I reached the village of Stormfront. It was midday, and unfortunately, I did not encounter any of the remaining bandits.
I had to hasten my steps and make my way here to reach as fast as I could but there was nothing suspicious around as if the threat was not here at all.
Reo told me Jamia stopped by this morning and left me the decent and fresh cloth for tomorrow's festival. My gramps requested it especially for me for this joyous occasion.
The Blue woolen shirt and grey trousers. It suited me and made me look like one of them. This old man always looks after me. I wonder how he will feel when I have to leave for the Academy.
I neatly folded the clothes storing them inside the inventory. I will wear them tomorrow, after all, this was his gift to me.
