Elijah closed the book he was reading as the door to the infirmary opened. His eyes glanced at the two figures that came in, unfamiliar as they seemed, but it was clear that it was the high-ranking leader of Deformity. The woman with the black braid was about twenty-five, carrying a folder in one hand.
The other was about thirty-five and looked quite familiar. Light brown shoulder-length hair, piercing eyes. Elias tried to remember where they had met.
The young man rose quickly and saluted. "Master."
"At ease," the woman with the shoulder-length hair said.
Elijah lowered his hand.
The shoulder-length woman glanced quickly around the room. "No chairs here?" she asked.
"None, master." Elijah shook his head quickly.
"Were they afraid you'd throw them?"
