Chapter 72
Theo Pov:
Me and my sister are stuck talking to nobles with our father and mother. Honestly, I don't like this, sure I have to do this in the future, because Aaron won't. I just wish she didn't have to be here, especially when people like this man are here.
Merlnor Bagnor, a Marquise who is in charge of a Western tribe. He is a fat and repugnant human with Light blonde hair and a mustache. He is also around five foot seven, a short height for a man in his forties.
He always seems to have this creepy look, like looking for prey. We normally don't see him due to the distance to his territory. He is over two weeks away from the capital to here. I have had a background check run on him but it has turned up almost nothing. The only thing I got was that he owns a town, runs a company called Tigerware, is rich beyond reason, and has some children.
Otherwise there is nothing bad about it, but I still don't trust him that much, though I am thankful that he is leaving now. Once he is gone I ask, "Why do we have to put up with him?" To my father.
"The main reason we put up with him is it would not look good if we had no humans in noble ranks. That would make us an antihuman kingdom by most peoples thoughts. He has contacts in the other kingdoms, but nothing incriminating. Architect doesn't interfere with our business so we can't ask them even if they knew. You will understand in the future better, but if you won't trust him I'll be wary," Rex says answering me.
Next is Count Escanoya Escanorngu. My father gave me a list of all tribes and their products. He wants us to get a hang of things for the future from my knowledge. Escanoya's main products are wood and ore products. So building and metal supplies along with monster drops from the nearby dungeon.
Everyone continent has many dungeons, but only a few are labeled. The only ones labeled are those with more than three floors. The reason is because those have low level monsters, the labeled ones have higher leveled monsters. Escanoya is near one of those so she is always on alert, she also came to see the one who needed the antivenom. She always likes to hear how someone got poisoned to help prevent others from getting the same.
Margrave Samuel is also on high alert because Glaciers are impossible to map. That means they can have a lot of Dungeons that we don't know of. In turn that means you often get waves during the winter when it gets to cold.
Anyways this is my sister and I's last meeting we are required to be at. That means we can go see Jake and the others after this. She enters and I must say, she lives up to her reputation for being a pretty Elf. We have the meeting and when it is done we finally leave as our mom handles the rest with father.
We enter into the gym to see a table in the lower noble section crowded. I look to see that the ones that are crowded are Jake, Emma, and Hunter. I guess they really are popular, but looking closer I see most of the people surrounding them are adults. They probably want arranged marriages with them, or something. I also notice a crowd of kids.
We watch on for a bit when I see and hear Merlnor Bagnor trying to get an arranged marriage for his son with Emma. The second he says that and puts his hand on Emma's shoulder without permission, he keels over. The guards know he got what he deserved, but couldn't stand still. They went in, as did me and Aaron, to see that Emma had punched him in the gut.
"You shouldn't do things you are not given the Ok for. You should also know who you are messing with," Emma says in a cold tone. Merlnor was the first to ask for an arranged marriage between her and someone else. This set an example for the others not to mess with her. There was also the fact that while she was 15 in the way of time, she was still a minor and a woman.
Merlnor backs away and leaves to a different area. They leave and go over to a section where there are kids. Most of the boys leave as Emma had shown what happens when you mess with her. It was the opposite for the girls as they were astounded by it, some left though out of loyalty to others.
I walk up with Aaron who tells Emma, "You really shouldn't antagonize high ranking nobles. But unofficially it was really nice to watch." At that Emma giggles as Hunter stands to the side to watch her. At the same time a guard approaches him as Jake sits down somewhere else and is swarmed by girls. Why were they swarming him?
Looking back at Hunter he nodded at what the guard had said and sighed. I walk over and ask, "What was that about?"
"He warned me to keep a better watch on my family. I trust my family's instincts, and I know Emma is a little hot headed. But she isn't that trusting in life ever since we got the wrong information on that dungeon. She only ever sided with that man when he told us we could get Antivenom. But I also have to deal with higher nobles and not doing something wrong," Hunter responds.
"Yeah, pretty much, and even if you are friends with higher nobles, they can't always protect you. I know that you know that, but tell me again why only you received a title when Jake did more," I ask.
"Because, there are some things better left unsaid. Plus he doesn't want to be held down, he wants to explore the world. Our sister also wants to travel with him so she doesn't want a title. That's the gist of it," He finishes.
"I see," I respond, A truly interesting Family.
