Chapter 67
(Attack at the castle, Pt 4 of 6)
Narrator Pov:
Time magic is a rare magic as said in the first book. In the first book there was a chapter, a book that Jake read, about magic and more. Space magic is very rare, and only a handful of people can use that magic. Jake the survivor could use it, but he only learned of it during the last decades of his life.
This is the reason why everyone was surprised by the story. But Rex even more so because he knew that Meshu's mom perished in the first World War. Meshu was a Beast-kin Dragon capable of living for hundreds if not thousands of years. But due to his human side, he will not live as long.
Meshu currently looks like a man in his late forties that is still very active. Most people who live in this world only live to sixty or seventy. The life expectancy for knights is lower due to battle and injuries. So Meshu could be near the end of his life, but I don't know, I can't use time magic. I honestly wish I could, but I can't.
Jake Pov:
I open my eyes to see people walking around. Looking closer I see that Theo and Aaron are on a couch, Meshu's wife and Emma are on the adjacent one laid down. Hunter is on the table resting as well from the looks of it. I try to move, but my body is aching and hurting, in the end I scream out in pain.
Theo, Aaron, and some knights come rushing over to see why. When they do they see that I am awake, and Aaron hugs me. What in the world happened since that explosion, and why am I here? I decide to feel around and realize that I have bandages all over.
"What... Happened?," I ask, curious and in pain.
"There was an explosion and the building caught on fire. Our parents and Meshu are talking about it, recently the knights came out so they could talk alone. We were going through the courtyard when we say a metal table moving. You were in that state again, and were lifting it up while it burnt your hands. That is why you are bandaged, along with the rest of you from the fall. You collapsed and me, Meshu, and my sister who is crying on you convinced our father to bring you with us. So here we are," Theo finishes as Aaron cries on me.
"How is Emma, Hunter, and the.. maid I suppose?," I ask in pain and concern.
"They have minor injuries, it seems you took the brunt of the fall. But, my father will be asking you questions on what had happened," Theo responds.
I try to get up and nod, but instead I hurt myself more and end up screaming out in pain again. This time I hear a door open as I scrunch my eyes closed from the pain. "He's awake?," Someone asks as I try to calm down.
"Yeah, he just woke up, when he tried to move he screamed out in pain. He wanted to know what had happened so I told him, but he tried to move again and he screamed again. That's the current situation," Theo said to someone over my screams.
I manage to calm down but don't open my eyes. "Do we have a healer here?," Someone asks.
"No, none of the guards have life Magic, though we can send for someone from the church," Someone else says.
"Alright, do that Meshu," A man says again. Sadly I don't know what happens next as I go back unconscious from the pain. When I awoke, I was on my sister lap, who was asleep.
I try to move a finger but it is in pain, which most likely means, my entire body is in pain. I can turn my head without it hurting thankfully, I look around. I see Theo on the other couch, sleeping, the maid is gone, knights by the door, and Aaron next to Theo.
Aaron is sitting with her elbows on her knees and hands interlocked, holding her head up. She seems to be thinking about something important. Aaron looks up resting her chin on her interlocked hands. She sees that I am awake and gets up, walking over to me.
When she reaches me she stops and gets on her knees so she is face to face with me. "A healer will be here soon to heal your injuries. Your brothers weren't as bad and is telling my father what happened. So just rest for now," Aaron says. As she does that I can see that she is holding back the tears in her eyes.
Unable to hold it any longer she gets up and returns to her seat. There she puts her head in hands and starts crying. I guess she is really broken up from what happened since the attack. Then there is a knock on the door, the knights by the door turn around and get ready to fight as they open it.
But they do it to no avail, it was the healer, that means nothing can get worse from here. At least that is what I think, I just hope I didn't jinx it. The healer is a older man from the looks of it, he is a Beast-kin goat with white hair. His eyes are brown and he is around 70 inches tall.
He comes over to me and kneels down looking me in the eyes. "How did a boy as young as you end up so hurt?," He asks, curious. I guess that he is right about that, can't fool a priest.
I try to speak but my face scrunches up in pain. The priest motions for me to stop so I do. "Don't try to speak if you can't, let me heal your injuries first. Then you need to take some medicine," He says bringing out a bottle.
He proceeds to cast life magic, healing my wounds and broken bones. Once that is done I manage to sit up with a few grunts of pain to the priests surprise. "Here is the medicine," He says tilting my head back to I an drink it.
But as I do, I taste something different about it, this is not medicine. It tastes similar, but not the same as the Hades serpent venom! I quickly spit it out, grab the throat of the priest, and slam him into the ground. All while Aaron and the guards watch on in horror.
