Ren trembled. He focused on counting and as soon as he reached 9 he focused on stopping his chakra from flowing through the Gate of Opening. He felt a little woozy as he took a deep breath and endured the pain.

In the past 5 days he had grinded the Eight Gates after coming home from the hospital, this was his 10th time using the skill. During the first five times, he got +5 END every time he overextended his body. Now he's getting a constant +3 END every time.
Ren had made sure not to push his body too much and thus had only used this skill 2 times a day, once in the morning and once deep into the night.
Ren looked at his END stat, in a matter of 5 days his body had gone from 133 -> 173 END.

In addition every second he kept the Kaimon open, he got 1% Exp. Since he only kept the skill active for 1 second on his first attempt and only 9 seconds on every subsequent attempt, he had gained a total of 82% skill proficiency.
He could have pushed the time limit but considering that the Kaimon is located in his brain he refrained from experimenting. He realized that this technique was too dangerous to use without supervision and since he was in a hostile territory whose medic nin he was training, he should not attempt to exceed these limits.
'I can't believe this technique is a forbidden technique though, Lee knew the exact same thing, did Hiruzen lie?' Ren thought as he frowned, the memories of his clone were quite conflicting.

Ren's clone woke up from his meditation as a rush of memory came into his mind, his eyebrows went up in surprise at the new development. He was the second generation clone that was created by the previous one. Jiraiya had warned them that his chakra-absorbing seal would turn any part of the clone at random into stone.
To be safe, Ren the 1st had created 3 clones when his chakra got full and then they waited to see how long Ren the 1st would last. He lasted a full 3 days before he randomly popped an hour ago. He had then created the 3rd generation of clones as he waited for his eventual death.
He was still the main clone though as until he died all the clones would report to him. He consolidated the memories that he just got from his boss, he slowly walked over to the table and picked up the ANBU mask.
The trip to Hokage-sama's office didn't take long, he jumped over to the window and felt several people scan him. By now the ANBU guards were already used to his chakra signature so they allowed him to get to the window.
'That means Hokage-sama is not in a meeting,' Ren the 2nd thought as he walked into the room.
As the war grew closed the amount of paperwork in front of Hokage-sama decreased. Hiruzen noticed Ren's clone appear and instantly waved him inside.
"Did Ren give an update?" Hiruzen asked.
"Yes Hokage-sama," Ren replied. He jumped over the window sill and walked into the room.
"So how's the situation there?" Hiruzen asked surprised, he hadn't expected to hear from Ren for a while now, and using the shadow clone jutsu under heavy security would not be wise.
"I'm Okay, for now, Land of Rain is recruiting a lot of mercenaries for now. I'm currently under probation but my situation is a lot better since the village leaders kind of recognized my strength." Ren responded, he wasn't really lying but he didn't want to tell Hokage that he was teaching them medical ninjutsu.
Even though he learned the Mystical Palm Jutsu because of his power, he still used it to heal Konoha Shinobi in the hospital in order to gain experience during the 2-month gap before the chunin exams.
The word village leader caught his interest because the last time Ren sent some info according to what Ren could figure out Hanzo had been dead for almost a decade. He was shocked but he had asked Ren to confirm and he decided to keep the information on the down low.
"Did you confirm?" Hiruzen asked, his hand going up stopping Ren from replying as he activated a seal matrix and isolated the room.
"Go on," Hiruzen continued.
"Yeah, Hanzo has been dead for a long time, the one leader, although I can't confirm directly the leader but her chakra level is Kage level and her movements have been smooth. I am trying to confirm but the other 3 have been so elusive." Ren replied. He thought about Obito Uchiha and decided to ask.
"By the way, do you know any Uchiha by the name of Obito?" Ren asked.
Ren's sudden question caught Hiruzen off guard, he looked at Ren with narrowed eyes and asked, "How do you know that name?"
'So it is someone important? But then why is he working for this Akatsuki organization, he can't be a spy right?' Ren thought he didn't want to admit that he had the ability to know everyone in the world so he had to make an excuse.
"I heard the name floating around in rumors." He shrugged.
Hiruzen stared at Ren with narrowed eyes, his mind spun through all the possibilities that would lead to Obito's name being thrown around in Ame.
'The recent attacks aimed at Naruto could be the cause, his identity as the Foruth's Legacy was made public due to some rumors. Kakashi is Naruto's sensei so maybe some missing-nin or Iwa-nin were discussing on how to attack Squad 7... I need to stop Team 7 from going out on missions and tell Kakashi to give them harsher training.' Hiruzen thought.
He looked at Ren who was waiting for an answer, maybe he could gather some more information.
"Obito is Kakashi's dead teammate and a student of the fourth Hokage, he died in the 3rd shinobi world war. Keep your ears open and report to me if you hear someone using his or anyone in team 7's name and report to me immediately." Hiruzen ordered.
Ren's eyes widened behind the mask, and a bunch of notifications appeared in front of him which he ignored for now. He thought about it and then asked, "I also stumbled upon a group of special tenketsu in my body. They work a bit differently than my other chakra points. There are 8 of them around my chakra network, do you know of any books in the library that might have some info regarding them."
Hiruzen's eyes widened for a second before he shook his head and answered absentmindedly, "No, don't experiment with those. The Eight Gates are dangerous and it is a forbidden technique, no one is allowed to learn it."
Hiruzen waved his hand and asked, "Is there anything else?"
Ren could tell that Hiruzen's focus was not on their conversation any longer, ever since he had sprung Obito's name he's been a little dodgy.
"No Hokage-sama," Ren spoke as he jumped out of the room, the isolating seal breaking as he left the room, his thoughts spiraling at the new information he got as he stared at the new quest that he received.
