Chapter 11 - Chapter 10 - Borrowing

After the smoke faded away, I landed beside her. She was pretty beaten up from the spar.

"Hey, you okay?"

I didn't get a response, so I did what any other person would do. I slap her in the face.

"Come on, wake up! I know you're not dead from that!"

I slapped her a few more times before she finally woke up with a yelp. She held her face in pain, looking at me with anger.

"What the hell was that for!?"

"Had to make sure you weren't dead, obviously."

She stood up, groaning in pain.

"Ouch..."

"Welp, I guess I win! Again!"

"Shut up!"

The grass plains disappeared, returning back to the pure white room it was before. I looked at the walls, there were small cracks everywhere.

"Did I do that?"

"Yes, yes you did." She said in an annoyed tone.

"Anyways, I'll get to going now. See you!"

I tried to walk away but she grabbed me by the collar of shirt, pulling me back which causes me to almost trip but I catch myself.

"Where do you think you're going?"

"Uhh...back to my dorm?"

"Did you forget? I still have to reward you for the training."

My eyes flared up. An reward? I wonder what it could be!

"Oh, right!"

"Follow me."

We walked out the white room. She then led me down this hall and into another room. It seemed to be an library, an sea of books stood upon shelves, their covers uniquely adorned. I'm hoping that since they look cool, I'll be getting some new magic techniques!

"You'd think with this many books, you would have better magic expertise."

Rosalind didn't seem amused by my joke however. She crossed her arms.

"Anyways, you can grab anything in this libr-"

When she had turned around, I was already holding a couple of books and other items like a wand, sword, and some weird scroll looking thingy.

*plop*

[Invisibility magic]

"HEY!!! GET BACK HERE!!"

I ran out the door and into the hallway, accidentally slipping on the carpet and falling on my face.

"Ah my ankle!"

I quickly got up, hearing Rosalind run after me.

[Blitzspeed + Spell Amplification]

With a flash, my form transformed into a dynamic blue silhouette, stretching out as I propelled myself forward. A resounding boom reverberated through the air as I shot out of the front door, accidentally breaking two windows on the way out.

'Just got to make it back to my dorm now!'

Eventually, I made it back to my dorm, jumping up to the window and opening it. I crawled inside, closing the window behind me.

"Whoooh! I made it back! Now let's see the rewards!" I chuckled.

I placed all the stuff that I've..uh. "borrowed" from Rosalind on to my desk. I sat down in the chair, grabbing a book out of the pile.

"Let's see here..."

The book had a green cover and had a gold framing on the inside of the outlines of the book. It was titled, "2nd tier of Arcane Magic". Now, I was already familiar with the term Arcane Magic. It was typically a sort of black magic that could bend natural laws of the world, so obviously, I was very excited to read it. However, when I actually began reading it, my smile quickly dropped.

A lot of these spells were just things I could do naturally or combine spells to create. But I guess it is only the 2nd tier. I tossed the book on to the ground, grabbing the wand I snabbed earlier and placing it on the desk. The wand wasn't really what I was interested in, it was the mana composed in the crystal at the top of it.

I ripped the mana crystal out from the wand, tossing the stick from the wand aside. The mana crystal, of course, stored magic which in turn allowed people with little magic or little magic potential to be able to use higher spells. Another interesting detail I found is that it takes mana from the surroundings, similarly to how everyone uses magic, besides from me of course. If I could somehow use this as a catalyst for myself, then I could greatly increase mana regeneration. Additionally, it could act as reserves of mana whenever I needed it.

And for the final item, excluding the sword since it seems to be just a regular sword, the scroll! Scrolls in fantasy world are quite useful at times, whether they are quick spells or grand knowledge.

So I open the scroll and....

What?

"Just wait a damn minute! There is nothing on here!"

I flipped, folded, and bended the scroll to make sure I wasn't looking at it the wrong way. But no matter what, this scroll, no, this sheet of paper was blank.

"Aw phooey! Its just garbage!"

I crumpled up the sheet into a ball, tossing it behind me.

"Ah whatever. I'm just going to get some sleep and return these in the morning." I yawned.

I laid down in my bed, before eventually falling asleep...

While Rei slept peacefully in his comfy bed, the sheet of paper crumpled up into a ball that was tossed aside shook suddenly. After a couple of seconds, it shook again with more intensity. Then suddenly, it began vibrating at a rapid pace, beginning to float into the air. It shot towards the mana crystal laying on the desk, nearly hitting it off the desk with impact. It formed back into its original shape, a red symbol appearing in center before fading away.
