Mia crawled to the sack coughing. She untied it and hopped out Becca. They cried uncontrollably.
"I missed you mummy. I thought you wouldn't come to save me." Becca cried.
"I missed and love you too Becca." She hugged her daughter so tight. Reba, Li Jing and the cops rushed upstairs.
"Where's the criminal?" Mia didn't hear them. She was too busy giving her daughter a sweet embrace.
"Mia, where's the criminal?" They asked again, and she jolted back to reality.
"The...the...she went this way." Mia pointed and the cops ran there. Reba, Li Jing and a few others took turns hugging Becca.
"Everyone, I think we should let the cops do their job and just go and rest at home." Li Jing suggested. They all departed and Reba followed Mia home.
"Mia, am so glad we found Becca." Reba said, cuddling Becca as she relaxed on the chair.
"You're right. It's almost 7pm. I think I should get you dinner, and some gifts for Anastasia." Mia smiled and Reba rolled her eyes.
"Oh, stop spoiling Ana. She's still little." Mia opened her cupboard and turned around to face Reba again.
"Do you have an idea who the masked person you spoke about might be?" Reba asked.
"I understand. You don't wanna pressurize me, and at the same time, you don't want to land your sister in what she doesn't know about"
"Damn! Look here, I don't care about Tara, or her reputation, and I am ready to ruin it, that's if, she is the culprit." Mia took out a big red teddy bear and threw it at Reba.
"Wow. Is this for me?"
"Why would I get something for you?" Mia faked a frown.
"Mia, I know you got it from my favorite store. Can you please get mine too??" Reba gave mia a puppy face.
"Sure. That'll be later. Let me resume work and earn something."
"When are you resuming?" Reba asked.
"Next week. I need to be indoors with my daughter, and let the cops interrogate her."
"Wha..."
"They didn't find the masked girl." Mia hung her head low.
"But how come? Reba got up shocked.
"IDK." She gave Reba a slight push and Reba turned to face Becca who was having fun with her video game already.
"Rebecca, I have something to ask you."
"What do you wanna say Reba?" Her eyes were fixed on the game.
"Becca, do you know who the masked girl is? Can you describe her for us, please?"
"....."
"Kid, your silence is not an answer." Reba held her hands as the PlayStation remote dropped.
"Who are or who is the criminal? How many people? What did they do to you? Did they threaten you? Did they..."
"You're asking too many questions." Becca said lowly.
"My darling, answer all Reba's questions. You know she's your friend and she wants the best for you." Mia said to Becca.
"I...I ..."
"Becca please..."
"They...they..."
"They what? Tell us who they are. Did they insult you or anything? Did they hurt you?"
"They didn't hurt me."
"Then why aren't you speaking? Just tell us, describe them to us, please." Mia took a paper, pasted it on an easel stand and gave Becca a pencil. Reba gave her some eye contact.
"We don't need any professional artist." Mia threw Becca's drawing book to Reba and she noticed all her professional drawings.
"They are humans. That's all I can say." She drew rough lines and got up.
"Sit down Becca." They pulled her down.
" Tell us who the people are."
"You can always talk to mummy." Mia gave her another paper.
"I don't want to draw anything." Becca tore the paper and walked away. Mia flared up but Reba held her hands.
"Am spending the night here to make sure you don't pressurize her or anything. Leave her till tomorrow."
"Am sure those people threatened her!" Mia cried while Reba consoled her.
Mia hadn't talked to Becca about the case.
She woke up early on Monday. She wore a black long sleeved top with a white and black striped jeans. She handed Reba her daughter to take to school while her car was at the mechanic's. She nursed her wound, took her black handbag and black heels outside. It was one of the first times in a long time she'd be taking cabs. She took a cab to the company, and looked around. There were luxurious cars outside it. She got into the company and saw the receptionist. It was indeed a busy day.
"Good to see the adorable fashion designer again, how may I help you?" The receptionist addressed with a big smile
"I would like to see the boss. I'm supposed to resume today."
"Yeah, I described his office to you before"
"Oh yes. I think I remember." She walked towards the direction but the receptionist stopped her.
"Wait, ma'am. Since you're now an employee here, what's your name?" She asked
"My name is... Mia Salvatore. Mrs Salvatore to be formal."
"Please, write your contact here, and some other vital information." She handed a paper and in two minutes, she finished.
"Thank you very much." She walked very fast to her boss's office, even faster than her legs could carry her. She opened the glass door, missed her steps and fell.
"Ouch." Her boss was backing her.
"What a jerk." She was sure he heard her fall.
"Yeah, I don't expect him to lift me, but not even a freaking sorry. Seriously?" She mumbled. She noticed he was trying to knot his tie.
"Yeah. I'll do the same. I'll not say a word, and he's gonna find difficulties." She went to sit on the sofa, opened her handbag and took out some skin care products, which would make her wounds blend with her skin.
"So, because we've met before, you didn't care to even say good morning?"
"Good morning sir." She rolled her eyes.
"Good morning. Would you get up? You're sitting on my favorite pillow."
"Am sorry." She got up.
"Now can I get to work?
"Knot my tie." Mia folded her arms and faked a frown.
"Do you men even have any home training? Weren't you taught any respect words? Sorry, Thank You, Please, Excuse Me or Pardon Me?" Mia aske
"Am sure you were taught too, not to speak to your boss like that!"
"Am sorry, I just...
"Shh.... Knot my tie. Please."
