Chapter 6 - Chapter 5 - Dirty Trick

The tapping sound of pen against the wooden table was the only distinct sound I've been hearing for the past 5 minutes.

Azrael sat quietly on his swivel chair, staring directly to me as without saying a thing. With his back against the glass wall where the only source of light comes from, I could not discern the expression he makes. But his glowing red eyes are surely waiting for me to speak.

I could not take this any longer. My body gets colder the longer I stay standing without doing any movements.

He's mad, I'm sure of it. I arrived here at 11 pm when I promised to be home by 9. On top of that, over a hundred missed calls were recorded on my phone.

Me changing my phone number after getting a replacement for my phone, suddenly wanting to move out of my apartment, coming home late. . .

What else could make him suspect my actions?

Staying quiet would do me no good, and so I took a gulp and started speaking. "I-I'm sorry. . ."

Such a situation, I remember my friends telling me how their parents would act the same way when they come home late.

It really is a scary thing.

"Nothing beyond that?"

My heart beat raced faster.

"Actually, I . . ."

Think, Seraphine, think of an excuse!

"I'm applying for a job and got lost in the city."

It's not that lame, is it?

I heard him sigh and crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"What for? Did I permit you to do so?"

"I can't just rely on you all my life, Azrael. I also want to do something purposeful."

Purposeful. I kinda feel like I'm talking about 'that agenda' anyway.

I cannot fathom it myself, it'd seem like they're merely forcing me to join them. But something's telling me to push this through, even if it requires me to fabricate a story to hide the truth from him.

"Why? You'll marry me anyway."

"That's why I'd like to experience getting a job before we settle down."

I might be lying to him right now, but part of it pertains to what I'm really into. Getting a job has been on my plans too, maybe I should give it a shot for real.

"Then I'll give you a position in my company."

I ran my fingers through my hair and sighed. "That's the least thing I want, and besides — what if people there find out about us?"

What would you tell them then?

That reminds me, what are we, really?

"You're my fiancé, I won't deny it."

Hearing him refer to my like that . . .

How could he make it sound so good?

Fiancé. . our deal does mention marriage, but now it felt somehow refreshing; like an actual romantic relationship rather than a contract.

Even so. . .

I walked behind him and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"I understand your concern, Azrael, but I really want to get this through on my own," I said, my lips almost touching his nape. This same perfume I picked for him is making me feel dizzy, yet addicted at the same time.

I can't believe I'm doing this dirty trick again to win his approval. Oh, how far you've strayed away from the path of purity, Seraphine.

Nonetheless, I can't continue this argument any further, or the truth might slip out of my own tongue.

My arms reached for his shirt's buttons and started to undo it one by one from behind. I could only do so much due to my position, so I caressed his bare chest instead.

I could feel his temperature rise, and his heart racing, such observations made me grin.

"I apologize for not telling you sooner, but you'd let me, right?" I left a peck under his ears.

"My cunning fox. You really know your ways."

I chuckled and walked beside the chair to face him.

"You've served as a good example for me." I partially sat on the desk and crossed my legs.

"Where's my reward then?" he held my waist and leisurely untucked my shirt with his thumb.

"Here. Unwrap it yourself."

Following a brief manic laugh, he tightened his grip on my waist and lifted me up. I landed with my bottom on his lap and my back against his chest.

Without any notice, he turned my face sideways and brushed his lips on mine. I grabbed his head to deepen the kiss as we both crave for more.

Using my vacant hand, I unbuttoned my pants but then I felt his hand unzip it, hence I let him take it off completely.

Before it could even fall on the ground, I parted my legs myself and allowed him to touch me down there while his other hand was busy fondling my breasts.

Every stroke of his fingers were sending electric shocks all over my body. It tickles every inch of me. It drains my strength but renders me tremendously eager for more.

At loss for breath, I pulled away and whispered to him, ". . in . . inside. A-ah!"

He did not even let me complete my speech and slid two fingers in!

"Sure, my love."

You dummy, you should've said that first before doing it!

But good heavens, it felt so good that I couldn't stop moaning.

"Ugh, Azrael. . . deeper -- t-that's it, ah!"

My mind was in utter chaos. His long, warm, and rough fingers are moving in and out of me, squeezing out my juices inside.

His rapid and deep thrusts inside me, his fingers playing with my erect nipple, and mouth aggressively sucking the skin of my neck. . .

I'm used to all of it, but every time we do it since leaving that island . . feels so delightfully intoxicating.

"Let's take a bath and give it our all in the bedroom," he said, licking his finger drenched in the fluid of my orgasm.

I let him carry me as I was too worn out to even stand.

My body was in mild discomfort the morning I woke up in his arms. We were still naked in bed and our clothes were scattered all over the floor.

It seems my 'dear fiancée' is in still in deep slumber. Poor man waited all night for me, anyway.

But wait, did I just — dang, feels like we just got engaged last night for me to giggle like this.

Fiancée, it is.

With a silly smile on my face, I grabbed my phone and went straight to my contacts to rename his —

Really, Seraphine!?

I shook my head and quickly erased it.

What if the anyone see his name on my screen? They'd surely place me under interrogation!

"How stubborn of you, Se—"

Out of impulse, I turned myself around and faced my phone against him.

Something's telling me this unknown number calling me right now is one of those two.

For now, I declined the call and sent it a message instead while picking a shirt on his closet.

'Who is this?'

It didn't take much time to reply:

'Jacob'

Oh, him? Quite an unexpected turn.

Well, it doesn't seem like an emergency at all since he did not say anything after I left it unanswered for the next few minutes.

I placed my phone on my apron's pocket and started picking up ingredients from the fridge. Might as well make an effort to compensate for what I did.

Although I just offered him a little service last night.

As I wait for the water to boil for coffee, I reached out for my phone and texted him back.

'Why'd you call so early? And dude why force me to make a call last time when you have a phone yourself?'

'First, it's already 9 in the morning, working hours start at 8. Blaine restricted me from calling you last night because he thinks your parents might be scolding you. Second, it's a personal matter.'

Playing mysterious now, are we? I don't think I'd get along with this one, but hey, he's the one to check on me at least.

'So what's today's agenda?'

'Drop by the agency later this afternoon.'

'I don't even know where it is.'

'Then I'll come pick you up. Blaine is busy with other stuff, by the way.'

'I'll meet you in that mall's parking lot, the one where you threatened to slit my throat."

'Get over it. Give me the time.'

'2 pm. See yah.'

Hmm. Maybe he's not that hostile after all.

I kept my phone away and continued preparing for breakfast.
