Adela's Perspective
I arranged for myself to be escorted to Catherine's residence on the day she instructed me to visit. I harbor no trust for her, but for the safety of the secret that Aunt Helena must not yet discover, I shall lend my belief to her.
I was taken aback when Emerald greeted me. A smile graced her lips as she beckoned me closer. With a few strides, she stood before me, her words flowing forth.
"Adela, I beseeched her to cease this folly, but she remained impervious. I extend my apologies for my inability to persuade her," she expressed, prompting a smile to curl upon my lips.
"You bear no culpability, Emerald. In truth, you acquitted yourself admirably. I did not beseech you to intercede, yet you did so. I extend my gratitude, Emerald," I conveyed, and she reciprocated with a smile.
