Olivia's Point of View
I paid no attention to Emerald's ongoing chatter. My gaze remained fixed on the table, my fingers absentmindedly playing while I waited for Adela, who excused herself to get our food.
I knew she was avoiding my question, but I let it slide for now. I wanted her to ponder her answers carefully.
I grabbed my phone and scrolled through my social media to stave off boredom from waiting. I had no interest in joining the dance floor earlier; I preferred being here with Adela at our table.
I wasn't really in the mood to party. I only came here for Adela, and if she hadn't shown up, I'd probably be fast asleep by now.
As I scrolled through my social media feed, loud screams made me nearly jump out of my seat. Some people were standing up, so I decided to see what was happening up front. I could still hear a loud crash, but I focused on what most people were looking at.
