The guard approaching Marcus closed the distance between them in an instant with the former's spear mere inches away from his face.
"State your purpose and how you found this place," the guard spoke in a serious tone completely opposite of the loudly laughing guardsmen from earlier.
It seemed when he actually had reason to, the guard took his job extremely seriously, yet contrary to this, the young man before him hardly cared and wasn't bothered by the guard's change in tone in the least. Instead, Marcus asked a question of the rhetorical variety.
"Hmm, why are you so... slow?"
The guard before him was at least of the intermediate rank judging off of what Alex had taught him regarding how he should read his opponents. Marcus wasn't entirely sure of this hypothesis, but the fact this man was a guard at all suggested he at least wasn't some novice or elementary ranked fighter.
The kingdom of Uceris couldn't be this weak could it?
