Her smile grew bigger when she saw the sun that began to set on the western horizon, as it Shone on the city below, coupled with the gentle breeze as it slowly blew the dried leaves off the maple tree dropping a heart shaped leaf at Catherine's feet.
Catherine's smile grew bigger as she bent over to pick it up. She stared at the heart shaped Maple leaf, with a grine plastered on her face.
The beautiful smile on her face gradually fell as she recalled a legend about Maple leaves.
"A Heart shaped Maple leaf is rare and can be seen only once in a decade. When seen by a couple together it serves as a blessing which signifies the couples long lasting love and fruitful bond. Their love will last seven life times and rebirths. But if seen alone it works as a curse, the person will have a bitter love life and heart breaks for seven life times and will suffer the same pungent ending".
"Who knows if this is my curse". She said in a low voice accompanied with a long sigh, before folding her arms around herself as the once gentle breeze starts to send chills down her spine.
" She was a sunset
type of girl.
And he was a sunrise
Kind of guy.
They lived on opposite ends
Of the world.
Depending on each other,
But can never be together".
She recited the poem with a sardonic smile on her face. Perceiving the negative emotions she had around her, she inhaled a deep breath shaking off all negative emotions as she resumed her previously jolly mood.
Unbeknownst to her a Blue Ferrari SF90 Spider, pulled up across the road with the driver staring at her in a dazed state. The driver slowly rolled down his car window to have a better view of Catherine who was lost in her own little world.
With the red glow of the sunset gracefully and beautifully illuminatated her making her look like a divine angel which came down straight from heaven to conquer the hearts of men like himself. Making her beauty second to none.
He brought out his cell phone and took a clear picture of her and smiled at the saved image like a fool. He was pulled out of his trance as his phone rang in his hand, changing his expression as if he hadn't been grinning like a fool a while back.
"Hello", he said to the person on the receiving end.
"Where are you"? The person on the other end asked irritated ignoring his greating.
"Close", he said coldly and sharply and disconnecting the call forthwith.
He took one last glance at Catherine, "Till we meet again" he said, before getting into his car and zoomed off.
Catherine lost in her little universe.... Unaware of the forthcoming storm. She sat on the ridge of the mountain absorbed in her thoughts.
She grinned from ear to ear like a Cheshire cat at the pleasent and captivating topography of the piedmont.
Her smile immediately interchanged with a sigh as the wave of an old poem came rushing to her at the sight of TWILIGHT.
.....
Sitting on a couch,
Visualizing what goes around,
Days moving at a fast pace,
everything seems cold on this phase.
Twilight knocks at our door,
And we must respond to its call,
Everything returns back home,
and watches the day gloams.
The cold feeling from twilight,
is like a cold breeze blown from an ocean,
A breeze of calmess and mildness,
A breeze of affection and love.
we go back to our family,
share love and laugh blissfully,
have a good and mild sleep,
then morning birds chirps.
But sadly I have "None".
....
She smirked at her tragic fate as a teardrop rolled down her face. She wiped the bitter tear clean as she snuffle her breathe in a sniffly, stuffed-up way through her nose, to scrunch her pent up feelings somewhere below her heart .
15 Minutes Later
Catherine stood up from the ridge of the mountain when the sun was hidden from man's eyes and the moon stood proudly in the sky with the help of the glittery stars showering the earth and it's landscapes with its gloried sight.
She walked up to her neatly parked bicycle and picked up her phone from the phone hanger.
Her eyes shoned at how fast the time went by.
It's so late!. Catherine exclamated as she stared at the time which says 7:26pm.
Catherine immediately got on her bicycle, places her phone back in the hanger and tied her hazel hair in a rough bun, highlighting her petite face.
She carefully stretched her left foot towards the kickstand pulling it up, steadied herself and rode off.
When she got to the gate of the mansion, the black and gold gate majestically opened to a presence as if acknowledging a Queen.
She smiled bitterly at her thought.
A Queen?, more like a Mistress. She said bitterly and gently rode in.
Good evening.....Miss Catherine. Greeted the security man at the gate.
Good evening. Catherine greeted back with an enthusiastic smile.
When Catherine entered the mansion, she was shocked to see a Blue Ferrari. She knitted her brows in confusion.
Is Kelvin back?. She asked herself, realising it might me Kevin.
Rose came back with his car and it's currently parked in the garage. She thought to herself and speed up her bicycle.
When she got in front of the mansion door, she came down from her bicycle, pulled her kickstand, picked up her phone and ran towards the door.
She was panting as a result of the little race she had with her heart. Calmly took in deep breaths to steady her breathing and input the pin.
Click
Came the sound of the door.
When she got inti the living room, she saw Lana who was headed towards the kitchen.
Hey lana..... Catherine called out urgently as she walked up to Lana.
Miss Catherine, you are back....Lana said excitedly as she bowed her head politely at Catherine.
I was worried sick for you Miss Catherine. Lana said worriedly
Where is he?, Catherine asked ignoring Lana's question.
Who?,Lana asked confused
He is back isn't he?. Catherine asked again desperately.
Do you mean Mr....Lana was interrupted by Catherine before she could complete her sentence.
Yes,where is he. Catherine asked impatient
OH, he is in the dinning hall with miss Rose. Lana answer politely.
With Rose? Catherine asked not being clear on what Lana said.
Yes Miss Catherine. Lana answer
