Chapter 97 - Masquerade (part 2)

As the host of the party, King Arthur aka Aquaman sat in his lofty throne above with Mera at his side in her own throne while she held onto Arthur Jr who was still an infant. When entering and seeing the two, I gave a small nod to Aquaman and then headed directly to the buffet after telling everyone I brought to do whatever they want until the dance starts.

The buffet was filled with Atlantean seafood. I wondered if this was not a form of cannibalism on their part as I looked around for garlic butter dip for my crab leg meat. Sadly the Atlanteans lacked seasonings and dips. It was just bland fish, odd vegetables, and surprisingly hostess twinkies, lots and lots of twinkies. Without much thought I grabbed a few condiments and seasonings from my inventory and sat them on the table. To my shock I heard someone scream out.

"This land monkey is trying to poison us!"

I quickly flung my head around in hopes to catch a glimpse of the person who would be so bold as to try and poison others at a royal ball. To my surprise the accuser had his finger pointed at me. Realizing I was the one being accused, I raised an eyebrow and smirked. "The f#ck did you just call me?" I wasn't even worried about the false accusation, my mind still hadn't recovered from being called a 'land monkey'. I didn't even have my tail...

Looking around I could see in different areas, the people I had brought with me weren't being treated much better as the Xenophobia ran rampant amongst Atlanteans. A quick look and I could see all of my guest were being made to feel unwelcome by many that attended the ball.

"These surface dwellers have no sense of style, how could they think of joining a ball our King had put together for the Queens sister?"

I heard many comments on the attire my guest had come in wearing and looking at the people I brought, I could tell they felt uncomfortable and slightly embarrassed realizing the Atlanteans were all in beautiful dresses and suits and they had not dressed similarly.

I looked back up at Aquaman who was furious upon hearing the accusation against me and seeing how his fellow people treated us, as he was about to stand up and do something. I made eye contact with him and shook my head. I didn't need other men fighting my battles.

Looking around again, I got a general idea of the dresses and suits and quickly put together a number of elegant and sophisticated pieces in my actors wardrobe and then snapped my fingers. Every one of my guest was instantly wearing a beautiful dress or suit that easily outdid all those that attended the ball. Each outfit fit it's wearers personality perfectly in my opinion.

Seeing my guest look a bit more confident and happy made me happy. I came to have a good time and I was not going to let a couple of hateful Atlanteans ruin our fun. Finished with the dresses, I then looked at my accuser and thought about what I was going to do with him.

At that moment I spotted a gorgeous looking woman with purple hair and a rose gold mask that made her pretty blue eyes more pronounced as she came my way. Although I was in a mask, I was royalty so my identity was shouted out upon entering. Aside from the people I came with and the other royalty that came after me, I didn't really know who was who.

When the purple haired woman was in front of me and the accuser she spoke. "I would like to see the poison in question".

At this time the masked male Atlantean pointed to the condiments and seasonings I had brought out of my inventory and placed with the buffet items. "I saw him place these deadly looking poisons here just a second ago and if I hadn't stopped him he would have tried to poison the food".

I laughed at the absurdity of it, In fact I walked up to the accuser and laughed loudly in his face until I had tears in my eyes. "HA.... You dumb bastard, these are to make the food better, not kill people" I said as I grabbed some butter and put it into a bowl and then melted it with my ki before adding some garlic and a pinch of salt and pepper to it.

Dipping the crab leg into the garlic butter sauce, I then took a bite as I savored it's taste before looking back at my accuser. "Satisfied?"

The accuser shook his head. "It might be a poison that doesn't affect land monkeys like yourself".

This mother f#cker just said it again. I needed to be respectful of Aquamans territory to some degree so I looked up at him before taking action. Seeing Aquaman facepalming, but giving me a nod, I decided to continue. I wanted to have a good relationship with Atlantis and I wouldn't stand for it if Aquaman came into Moonlight City causing problems either. It was matter of territorial respect.

Before I took action I noticed the purple haired beauty grab a crab leg and dip it into the garlic sauce I had made before giving it a taste herself. "Mnmm this is so tasty, what do you call this?"

Without missing a beat I spoke. "It's a simple garlic sauce that every land monkey like myself and the Kings father enjoys often".

The purple haired woman choked on her food a second and started coughing. "Land monkey?" she inquired.

I nodded my head. "It's what this imbecile who has never left home and explored before called me a second ago. But because he is an idiot, he didn't realize he was also calling his own King part land monkey as well".

The purple haired woman's head swung towards the accuser. "You dare?" She then looked towards a couple of armed men nearby. "Guards kick this man out and put him in the prison for now. He not only insulted his majesty's guest and accused him of a crime he did not commit, but he also insulted his majesty himself".

Although I was surprised that the purple haired woman took my side on the matter, I still wasn't satisfied. Walking up to the accuser, I gave a light backhanded slap that instantly caused the person in questions face to swell and turn an ugly shade of purple and black as his eyes, ears, and mouth started to bleed. "Now you can take him away".

The purple haired woman witnessing this smiled. "Still as macho and unpredictable as ever".

I looked at her with a curious expression wondering what she meant, before I realized who she was after checking her ki signature. "I can't say the same for you, you seemed to have changed a lot since I last saw you Hila".

In fact she had changed so much that I hadn't recognized her. She carried herself in a more mature fashion and she wasn't trying to cause me trouble, but instead she tried to come to my rescue. Can a person change so much in such a short time? I couldn't help but put my guard up a little, waiting for her ploy.

At this time the King stood up and was about to speak, causing everyone that were in attendance including Hila and myself to look up at him.
