Chapter 93 - Quincy Jackson

Arriving at Moonlight City Children's Hospital caused quite the commotion as the automatic doors opened and I walked in fully costumed. Walking towards the nursing station I could feel everyone's eyes on me as it suddenly got quiet.

In front of me was a young nurse or receptionist, I couldn't tell which, but she hadn't noticed my arrival and was writing things down on a paper as she talked on the phone with someone. Noticing how quiet it had gotten, she took a moment to look up to see why.

Standing in all of my costumed glory I lightly spoke to her as she hung up the phone looking like a dazed deer caught in a cars headlights. "I am here to see Quincy Jackson, I hope I am not too late".

The nurse stared at me for a second longer before speaking again. "...Yes, um alright! his father is currently visiting him, I will let him know you would like to visit".

"Hey, is that guy cosplaying as King Moonlight?" I heard someone in the waiting room say in a hushed voice to the person next to them.

The person he was talking to shook his head. "Nah man, that's the real deal. Nobody can fake the arcs of lightning in the eyes and hair, not only that, I had seen him the other day at the Memorial, it's the same guy".

Another hearing the two spoke up. "Speaking of hair, that up and coming singer that hangs around Moonlight City has a similar hairstyle. I wonder who copied who?"

The young guy who had just replied to his friend a second ago answered this question as well. "It's a trendy haircut and style right now. Everyone wants to be like King Moonlight, that singer probably isn't much different, but like I said, nobody can fake the lightning part of the hairdo, King Moonlight's got mad swagger. My cousin Darren has naturally curly hair and that idiot got a perm just to do the same hairstyle. It ended up looking dumb as hell though. He goes through a whole thing of hair spray a day. Trust me, that hairdo isn't worth the hassle".

The young guy was so loud talking about my hair that the other people who had asked questions pretended not to know him as they tried to blend in with their seat. After a while of waiting the Nurse/receptionist came back with an older black man who rushed towards me and spoke. "Please come back quickly, his final wish was to see you, he's been holding on and enduring while in so much pain just for this moment alone.

I felt bad. It wasn't like I had intentionally waited so long to come, I just didn't have a mailbox. Id have to fix that as soon as I could. As the older man lead the way, I kept his pace until we reached a wing of the hospital that had nothing but sick and dying children in it. Many were bedridden and could not move around.

"Quincy are you awake? Your favorite Hero has come to visit" Said the Father who was trying not to cry.

A young, thin, very sickly black kid looked up at me weakly. "He's...real this time. ..I knew you would come"

The father smiled hearing his sons words. "I had no way to get in contact with you and his Mother passed a couple of years ago, so with the hospital bills and me trying to raise him alone, I was forced to pay for a not so good impersonator. My boy saw right through them though".

Looking around at all the sick children and then back at my self proclaimed biggest fan Quincy, I spoke to the system in my head. "System can the healing piano cure these kids?"

**Yes, but the song would have to be at least two minutes long**

Hearing the system I felt I was in a bit of a dilemma. If I healed these kids with my piano it would possibly expose my identity. If my Celebrity self healed them it would also expose me considering I have already visited in my costume before hand. Whispers flute had strong healing properties, but I knew it wouldn't be enough to cure cancer. After thinking for a bit, I turned off my voice changer so I didn't scare the kids and then called up whisper and told him to make his way to the Children's Hospital.

When he arrived I handed him the healing Piano, a music sheet with attached lyrics and then backed away and gave him space to get ready. Ever since Whisper had mastered the flute, he had been learning other instruments as well, the piano was one of the first ones he had practiced so he was the first I had thought of that could pull this off without leaving suspicion on me. He was known to heal people with music and it wasn't anything new to anyone in Moonlight City.

"What is going on?" Asked Quincy's father.

"Please just watch" I said. I didn't want to get everyone's hopes up when I didn't know if something would go wrong. Shortly after we spoke, Whisper began to play and sing as he whispered the song Three little birds by Bob Marley as loudly as he could.

🎵♪🎶"Don't worry about a thing

'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright"

Singing, "Don't worry about a thing

'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright!"

Rise up this morning, smiled with the rising sun

Three little birds pitch by my doorstep

Singing sweet songs of melodies pure and true

Saying, "This is my message to you-ou-ou"

Singing, "Don't worry about a thing

'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright"

Singing, "Don't worry about a thing (Don't worry)

'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright!"🎵♪🎶

As he sang the pianos melody traveled throughout the hospital and all of the kids started to slowly regain their energy and life. Quincy slowly sat up in his bed and looked at his father. "Dad, I don't feel pain or sick anymore. Am I going to be okay? Do I still have to die?"

Quincy's father looked my way. "is he fully healed?"

I nodded. "As soon as this song is finished he should be, but id still recommend a follow up with his doctor".

The middle aged man with tears in his eyes ran up to me and hugged me tight. "Thank you! Thank you so much for all that you do for this City and all that you have done for me and my family, we are in your debt. Anything I can do for you that is within my power, I will".

The man released his hug on me and I backed away slightly. "I am not a saint, do not thank me quite yet. Your son had written me a letter wanting me to visit and had expressed that he wished he could grow up to be like me. In return for healing him and all the kids in this hospital, I plan to train him and then send him to the tower and if he climbs high enough, he will be the first Knight under my Head Knight. Your son could still very well die in the tower later".

The man backed away from me quickly as if I had slapped him in the face. "So cruel. You give us hope and then expect me to let you send him to his death right after? I have heard the stories of the tower, many have died as food for it's monsters. How could I let you take him away for such a dangerous life?".

Right as I was about to reply to his words, his son spoke up ahead of me. "Dad please, I would be dead if it wasn't for him and I want to be a Hero more than anything. Even if I die within the tower, I will have no regrets because I at least got to experience the life I always dreamed of".

His father looked down in thought for a second before speaking again. "Very well, but please be safe. Live life however you want, but please do not forget your roots, don't forget about me. I have nobody else if you die".

I needed Knights and they weren't coming fast enough, so when I saw Quincys letter I had the idea to train him to be as capable as one of the Bat family's kids and then send him into the tower to gain power. The other reason I was doing this was so that people don't come begging for me and my disciples to heal them later. I can't heal the world and if they knew Id ask something big of them in return it may deter many of them from seeking me out.

As Whisper, Quincy, his father, and myself walked out of the hospital room and started to head out. I was greeted by a very interesting sight as all the kids ran up to hug Whisper and the hospital staff all bowed their heads to me. Walking out of the hospitals children's wing and back into the main lobby of the hospital I found that news had spread as everywhere I went people showed some type of respect to me and my Disciple.

Outside I saw reporters waiting for me. I could have teleported everyone back to my castle and ignored them, but I couldn't always avoid them. Leaving Quincy and his father to Whisper, I told them to leave through the back as I headed out to talk to the reporters.
