After everyone came back and put their new gifts under the tree, I pulled Cosmic Starlight to the side and had her follow me to the elevator behind the throne. On the panel of buttons there was a new button that said her costumed name.
"Push your button and it will take you to your own private room where you can take off your costume freely. Personal rooms are the only place in the castle that we are allowed to take our costumes off in without worry of compromising your privacy. Nobody can access your room aside from you. Of course I can, but I would never do so unless it was absolutely needed in case of a dire emergency or something like that".
Barbara pressed the button labeled with her costumed name and watched as the elevator doors closed. "Don't get me wrong, I don't think you are the perverted type, but my secret identity is important to me, I don't know if I can let my guard down inside so easily".
I shrugged my shoulders. "Do what you want".
I found it a little funny considering I already knew who she was, but I felt if I told her this, it would do more harm than good. She deserved a place where she could feel comfortable outside of her costume and have privacy and I have provided that for her. My job was done. Having shown her to her room, I walked back to the elevator and pressed the button for my own room and left Cosmic Starlight behind.
☆Cosmic Starlight Pov☆
Barbara watched as King Moonlight left and the elevator doors closed behind him. Having inherited a bit of Batman's paranoia she pulled out a device and started to scan for monitoring equipment. Realizing there was none after checking every inch of the room, she looked around and finally took it all in.
The room was nice. You could see the city outside as twilight hours started to approach. She remembered when she was brought to this place that not only was it currently invisible to the outside, but when it became visible to her, the floating islands above the castle could not be seen through by her. So the fact that she could see through to the outside meant it was a one way type of glass dome that she could see through from inside her room, but her and the room were not visible to anyone else outside.
On the bed she found a piece of paper that told her how to operate different things in the room. Walking over to the glass wall she tapped on it twice making the outside disappear from view. Immediately after a number of dimly lit artificial fireflies like the ones that could be seen in the throne room appeared. The room was now fairly dark, but she could still see a bit thanks to the fireflies.
Although she was aware of the glass case for her costume, she still hadn't brought her luggage from Gotham yet, so she was forced to sleep in her new costume for now. Luckily it was not something uncomfortable, in fact it almost felt as if she was naked when she wore it. It was a lot easier to fight in due to this feature alone.
As she laid down on her new bed, lowering her guard for the first time in her strange new room, for whatever reason she felt she could trust King Moonlight as she closed her eyes and fell asleep. She didn't know why, but despite his evil sounding voice and intimidating presence, she felt he could be trusted. Something about him felt reliable and she trusted her instincts. It was due to her instincts that she had survived so much in the past and was still alive today.
☆Cosmic Starlight Pov End☆
After morning came I waited in the throne room with my disciples and Otho, Osul, and Kryl as we waited for Cosmic Starlight to awake. I hadn't wanted to disturb her first nights sleep here so we all told spooky Christmas stories around the tree as we waited, a tradition I had brought over from my past life.
Eventually the elevator doors opened up to reveal a well rested Cosmic Starlight as she noticed us all gathered around the tree. "Oh, I had no way to track the time in my new room, did I oversleep?"
Matteo spoke up beneath his Scream costume. "Hurry up and sit down, we have been waiting ages for you so that we could open presents".
Ah this kid, I didn't mind it if he acted this way if it was just in front of me, but his attitude in front of a guest was not okay. Without much thought I sent a very small ki beam towards him. With so much training, Scream easily sensed the attack and raised his blade which formed a translucent shield in front of him. The ki beam had very little Ki behind it and so it didn't break the shield, but it did send Scream flying into the wall behind him just from the sheer force of my smallest ki attack.
"Oh, it's okay. He didn't offend me" Cosmic Starlight said upon seeing me discipline my disciple.
I waved my hand at her words. "What's Christmas without a couple family fights?" I then turned to Scream. "You responded quickly to my attack, you have really come a long way with your training, It makes me proud". I honestly couldn't wait to form a Young Justice of my own. Considering my disciples growth, I needed to get started on it soon.
The other two disciples looked at Scream with envy. Compliments on their skills weren't thrown out often by their teacher.
I grabbed a present from under the tree and threw it to Mayank/Whisper. "Please take turns on opening gifts" I said as I watched Mayank open one of the two presents I had gotten him.
"What is it?" asked Whisper as he stared down at the tiny silver ball in front of him.
"It is a robotic sidekick that will help you with almost anything you need." I replied. I was originally going to use the helper robots I had found on the pirate ship to help with construction in the city, but after becoming a master in engineering and programming with the help of my clone using the holodeck, I decided to alter them to be helper/sidekick robots for those that live with me. Of course I also bought each of them something from the store as well, but this was the better of the two presents I had gotten each of them. "Throw the ball to activate it and when you aren't using it, it will turn back into a ball". I added.
Whisper grabbed the ball and threw it. The handheld ball turned into a a 5ft robot and spoke. "My name is SidekickBot1, what can I do for you Master Whisper?"
Each Sidekickbot was painted to fit the Hero they were a sidekick to, so Whispers was black and white with painted on stitching here and there. It may be called a sidekick, but fighting crime with the robot was limited in stealth operations. It still had plenty of uses though.
Whisper was amazed as he saw the robot come to life and speak to him, but tried to keep his cool in front of everyone. "Sidekickbot1 please stand to the side as we continue to open the rest of the gifts". The robot did as it was told and moved over to the side and began to stand still.
Eventually it was Cosmic Starlight's turn to open her second gift. She had already opened up her personal robot sidekick earlier. Opening the gift, she saw a beautiful silver necklace with a tiny crescent moon hanging from it and then beside it were around twenty sharp star shaped shurikens and a white utility belt.
"I thought with your new costume, id get you a couple accessories" I said, secretly hoping she liked her gift.
Cosmic Starlight put the necklace on and then put the new Shuriken that were to replace her old batarangs in one of her white utility belt compartments before putting the utility belt itself on. It fit perfectly and looked just like the golden utility belts that batman used, only difference was that it was white. "Thanks, it's great, I really like them".
Eventually it was my turn to open her gift to me. Opening it up I found a painting of a man looking into a river at his own reflection, only his reflection was distorted and eerie. The scenery within the reflection looked like paradise, while the real scenery around him looked darker than even Gotham looked.
Cosmic Starlight seeing me look at it with clear approval spoke. "I had noticed the lack of decorations on the walls around here, when I saw this painting in a novice art store, I felt it was similar to you somehow and would go good with your house".
Hearing her words and looking at the painting again, I didn't know how I should take her words, but I replied with my thanks anyway.
"It's interesting and thought provoking, I'll hang it up when everyone is finished here". I figured Id either put it in my room or the throne room itself. The painting was very much so to my liking and fit my taste perfectly. We continued opening the rest of the presents and then moved onto the stockings shortly after.
It was a very memorable Christmas for me, I only hoped that it was a memorable Christmas for the people around me as well. As I was caught in the holiday spirt, I heard a notification from the system.
