Chapter 62 - The story teller (part 1)

-ONE YEAR PRIOR TO WARWORLD BEING SAVED BY THE JUSTICE LEAGUE-

Osul-Ra Had been practically raised on Warworld as a slave ever since his world New Phaelosia had been invaded and conquered by Mongul. His twin sister Ortho-Ra and him would probably never have survived on their own if it wasn't for old man Kryl-Ux a Phaelosian like them helping them out often as they grew.

Old man Kryl was mean and cold to anyone else, but had a soft spot for them alone. None the less, if one of the twins did something bad even if it was stealing due to near starvation, he was a firm hand and played the role of a strict parent so that they would grow up to be good adults.

Osul was not happy with his life and found that he wanted more than anything to save his sister and adoptive grandpa before spreading his wings and following his dreams of being the best merchant in all of the cosmos. Osul had grown up with nothing on Warworld and couldn't help but envy those with even a little more than himself. He envied others so much that even though he had little to no hope of ever leaving his circumstances, he dared to dream big.

As Osul had just gotten finished doing his daily labor, he had laid down on the ground daydreaming about said dreams when his sister interrupted him. "Osul, Byla-Esh has come by to tell us a new story!"

Osul waved his sister away. "I'm too old for those made up fairy tales now, go away".

"THEY ARE NOT MADE UP! THEY ARE REAL!" Ortho shouted at her brother angrily before walking away with slight tears in her eyes.

Although Osul wanted to present himself as mature in front of his sister, he himself also still wished to believe in the tales Byla spoke of and felt bad for making his sister so upset. Byla was a middle aged man and a slave like them, but from another camp and would from time to time come by and tell of amazing stories of one of their kryptonian cousins named Kal-El.

The stories of his adventures on a place called Earth gave them hope of possibly being saved by Kal-El each time they heard a new one. He was always saving people like them in similar circumstances so why wouldn't he eventually save them as well? Sure the Phaelosians and Kryptonians never really got along, but the so called Superman of earth didn't seem like the type of person to ignore anybody in need regardless of who they were.

Osul feeling bad, ran to catch up with his sister, grabbing her hand and holding it. "I'll go with you, so stop your crying".

Ortho smiled. "I knew you also believed in the stories!"

"I am only coming because I don't like seeing my sister upset" replied Osul as they walked to the campfire surrounded by kids younger than them from many different conquered worlds. They were once the same as these young kids and looking around you could see a couple of other kids Osul and Ortho's age who also still attended the stories without shame.

Sitting down, Osul and Ortho caught Byla's eye. "Ah, Ortho and Osul, You will be glad you came. I have a new exciting story for everyone here today!"

One of the younger children in the crowd shouted out in excitement. "What did Superman do this time Uncle Byla?"

Byla with a twinkle in his old mysterious eyes smiled widely before speaking. "Today is a little different, today I will be talking about a new Hero that also lives on Earth and fights alongside Superman!".

The surrounding kids were all excited to hear about a new hero, many of them loved the tales of Superman, but after a while they were somewhat repetitive no matter how good the stories were. Almost everybody felt the same except for Osul and Ortho who felt a connection with the Kryptonian in the stories not just because he had similar blood to their own, but because they had grown up listening to tales about him and have already started to idolize him in their minds unconsciously. Still, Osul and Ortho both kept quiet and listened as Byla started telling the new story.

"Let me tell you about the story of a grumpy, untrusting, and pessimistic young man who comes from another dimension from our own that had a great heart, but because of his cold personality, he never found success in his first life".

First life? Osul thought that was an odd way of describing a persons life and the words themselves held certain implications. The main character of this story sounded a lot like their Grandpa Kryl if he were to be a lot younger. This reason alone made Osul have a certain liking to the new character Byla had just introduced to them. Already hooked, Osul, his sister, and the children around listened to the new tale, giving it their full attention.

"One day on the way to where he lived, even though the world that had birthed him hated him because of his attitude, he chose to save a young boy from death while knowingly sacrificing himself in the process. The man died and was given another chance to live again by a mysterious being who granted him 3 random blessings. His first blessing was to be born into our universe, his second was a strong body, and his third was a digital shop in his mind that he could buy things from like pricey cosmetics if he had enough money".

Aside from the strong body, Osul couldn't help but think the other two blessings were lacking. Was it a blessing to be born in this Universe? He couldn't help but think it was more a curse than anything. Not only that, why would the man need a shop to buy cosmetics from? What use was that? Osul couldn't help but pity the main characters bad luck in his heart as he continued to listen to the story.

"The man who had been moved to earth from another dimension did not want to live life dangerously, he wanted another chance at his old job from his old life, hoping that this time he would have more success. Unfortunately for the man in question, his heart was bigger than he would have liked to admit. Anytime he saw others in trouble, he could not just simply act as if he didn't see it and instead would choose to take action. With nothing but a tuxedo, mask, and silly top hat, to hide his regular identity, he decided to fight injustice wherever he saw it."

The kids had no concept of what a tuxedo or top hat was, but they all had imagined it to the best of their own abilities as they pictured the man saving others in a costume to hide his identity.

"One day earth was invaded by aliens from a faraway place. The man saw that the world and it's current heroes were too disorganized to take care of the threat efficiently on their own as he saw those around him being harmed from the fallout. Without much thought, he took on the alien threat and started to gather other heroes like himself around him including Superman from my past stories. Together they fought a serious battle and won against the invading forces and not long later, formed a group called the Justice League."

Osul rolled his eyes at this part. 'What's to say they wouldn't have organized on their own without his help and eventually formed a group without him?"

Byla chuckled. "Smart observation. Yes, if he had not intervened, they would have eventually figured things out on their own, but because he had intervened, a lot less people died and the Earth got a stronger and more efficient league than they would have".

"You can't possibly know that unless this story is either made up or you somehow knew how the original future was supposed to play out". said Osul

Byla continued to smile, but ignored the overly intelligent Osul and started telling the story again. "The man later changed out his temporary costume to a more serious long term one to fit his new and more serious convictions. In his new costume he put fear into evil doers and took on the name 'King Moonlight' and then later started a Kingdom called 'Moonlight City'. This is where the story starts to get a lot more interesting. I welcome you all to come back tomorrow and I will tell you of the miracle city King Moonlight created with his wonderous powers".

As the kids all around Byla groaned because they wanted to hear about the city now instead of later, Byla patted their heads and started to get ready to leave.
