As our ship landed and I walked off of it, I was greeted by a sorry sight. Malnourished and no place to return to, these refugees were barely surviving and had nothing on them except for torn and dirtied clothing. Not only that, but the planet they were currently living on was barren.
Upon seeing the four of us exit the ship, the small group of refugees surrounded us as they asked for any amount of food we could give. I felt terrible for leaving these people behind and giving them no more thought after rescuing them. It was somewhat selfish and showed my lack of ability to see the future consequences of my actions. Although I had technically saved them, I had also inadvertently made a number of them homeless with nowhere to go by doing so. Next time If I do something big like this, I should take full responsibility and see it through. It wasn't just strong gladiators here, but also old men and women along with children who needed more help than the rest.
*DING!*

Looking at the new task, I was surprised to see the bonus reward was bigger than the main task reward. After helping pass out food and drink, I let my new shipmates know that what I planned to do.
"You sing?? asked Sodam thinking it didn't really match his new friends personality much. Aeric came off as a bit cold at times and he honestly didn't think he was capable of choosing to sing a song to uplift others. It was surprising to say the least. The other two ship mates had similar thoughts as Sodam.
"Yes, it's actually my profession, but if you ever go to earth I expect you to keep my fighting ability to yourselves. It's a bit of a secret". I was sure my new crewmates were good people capable of keeping a secret, they gave me similar vibes as my Justice League friends, but they were a little bit more like me than them in some ways also and that was probably why I was a bit more comfortable around them as opposed to the league.
"It's weird that you would keep that a secret, but sure" replied Lola as I started setting up my stage and instruments that appeared out of thin air, amazing the three Daxamites and the crowd of refugees. Many thought that I was using some kind of technology they had never seen before when they saw the instruments appear out of thin air.
Taking advantage of my Otherworlder title for the second time since arriving in the DC Universe, I spoke to the crowd. My voice reaching each of them in their own language.
"First I would like to sing you a song as you fill your bellies with food and drink that my friends have provided you, after I would like to invite you all to live in a city in a world where I am from where I can assure you that everyone of you can find a new beginning. I am not forcing anyone to leave, but if you wish to do so, I welcome you with open arms".
A number of murmurs broke out as the crowd started to talk amongst themselves. Captain Lola raised an eyebrow wondering who was going to be transporting these people, because she herself had not given the okay to use her ship. Sure she had planned to eventually have them relocated, but she just wasn't able to currently. She would have had to find a planet first and not only that, resources were fairly tight right now.
I knew most would choose to leave just because the current planet they were living on could not sustain life and my new ship mates would not always be able to take care of them. I counted twenty eight people in front of me. Of those twenty eight, Six of them were teenagers, fifteen of them were elderly or crippled in various ways and looked like they could die any moment due to being over worked, Six more were what I assumed to be prostitutes, and then there was one that caught my eye over the rest. He was the only old looking man that looked like he still had plenty of fight in him while also looking like he had seen more fights than most.
Of those twenty eight, only seven of them had humanoid features and spoke with their mouths or mind. I was taking a chance singing in front of them and then sending them to my world, but the chances of those six not only figuring out I was King Moonlight later and exposing my identity after I saved them twice seems unlikely. Right now I was not in my Moonlight Costume and have not shown any type of strength in front of them. I hoped their assumption would just be that I was an alien singer/space traveler from earth that just happened upon them.
Seeing all of the wounded and crippled people in front of me, I spent 10,000c on my second magical instrument from the shop. In the past I had only altered or added magic to pre existing instruments aside from the time I freed Hila from her brainwashing magic. This was my second ever full blow magical instrument bought from the system though. The song I was planning to do consisted of a piano, chords, and vocals, so I had chosen the 'Healers Piano'. Aside from Captain Marvel aka Shazam, the power to heal was somehow one of the most unheard of powers. Earth needed more healers so this was also an investment for the future.
The group in front of me may have been small, but I still wanted to do a good performance. At this point in my career, although fame was nice, I liked the feeling I got when I saw others affected by my music more. After adjusting the mic's level to my mouths height, I began to sing 'Today my life begins, by Bruno Mars' I made no real changes to the original music and decided to sing it the same as the original.
🎶♪🎵I've been working hard so long
Seems like pain has been my only friend
My fragile heart's been done so wrong
I wondered if I'd ever heal again
Oh, just like all the seasons never stay the same
All around me I can feel a change🎶♪🎵
Quickly activating the peppers ghost effect I played stock video footage that I had previously taken of Moonlight Cities citizens during a harvest moon as they danced and celebrated.
🎶♪🎵I will break these chains that bind me, happiness will find me
Leave the past behind me, today my life begins
A whole new world is waiting it's mine for the taking
I know I can make it today my life begins🎶♪🎵
What appeared to be a young brother and sister with humanoid features caught my attention as they hugged each other and stood next to the old man I had took note of a bit ago. Giving a small smile to the young siblings I continued singing.
🎶♪🎵Yesterday has come and gone
And I've learn how to leave it where it is
And I see that I was wrong
For ever doubting I could win
Oh, just like all the seasons never stay the same
All around me I can feel a change 🎶♪🎵
The crowd before me started to glow a bright orange as they began to all heal at a fast pace. Many who had lost body parts were having them regrown right before my eyes, many of the prostitutes who had obviously had different forms of VD affecting their health also started to have better complexions and show signs of happiness and awe like those around them. It was a far greater healing than I had bargained for and it made me feel like I had spent my 10,000c wisely.
🎶♪🎵I will break these chains that bind me, happiness will find me
Leave the past behind me, today my life begins
A whole new world is waiting it's mine for the taking
I know I can make it today my life begins
Life's too short to have regrets
So I'm learning now to leave it in the past and try to forget
Only have one life to live
So you better make the best of it🎶♪🎵
As I finished up the song and sang the chorus a couple more times, I was met with the looks of adoration that I had never seen before. Sure I had fans back on earth that liked me, but this felt like it was on another level. After the song, I started to pack things up in my systems inventory as my ship mates came up to talk to me.
"Wow, you sure are full of surprises man" said Telos as he put his arm around my neck putting me into a friendly headlock and giving my hair a noogie while smiling.
Sodam nodded. "A man of your talents, your planet must really be missing you right now".
I couldn't help but laugh at Sodam's words. Nobody was missing me because I was still technically there.
Lola spoke up last. "It was quite beautiful. How did you do that? I also want to know how you planned to move these refugees? My small ship can not hold them all. It was a hassle to originally move them here in two groups of fourteen."
I didn't know how to answer her first question, so I just told her half truths. "It's just advanced technology from my original planet. As for how I plan to move these people to my planet?".
Walking towards the refugees I spoke up loudly. "Those that want to move to my planet form a line here in front of me".
