Beep! Beep! Beep!
Kain stared outside the bus window as he leaned against it, watching the cars racing against traffic.
It was an ordinary day in his average life. A normal bus ride to the university for his afternoon classes.
But, today was not going to be a good day and Kain could sense it.
His face grimaced as he observed the scenery outside the window. There was a terrible feeling in his gut like something bad was about to happen.
He tried his best not to think about it, dismissing his worries by telling himself that he was only anxious about his upcoming final exams.
Then suddenly, from the corner of his eyes, he saw a bearded man with knife pointed at the bus driver.
Kain stomach clenched as he witnessed that scene. It felt as if time had slowed down to a stop.
He wanted to move his body but quickly discovered that he could not.
And in that moment, he saw the scene of the bearded man plunging his knife into the chest of the bus driver.
His mouth dropped as he watched in horror and his fear intensified when he noticed none of the others passengers had realised what just happened.
In the next few moments, Kain felt the bus swerving towards the left, entering the opposite lane.
And then...
CRASH——————————
Kain's eyes bursted open in shock and terror as the chaotic scene of the bus crashing unfolded, shattering the world around him.
He tightly gripped the blanket that lay upon him and swiftly pulled it away from his body while his eyes scanned his surrounding.
He found himself in a bedroom, lying on a bed.
When he looked down to check his body, he discovered he was drenched in sweat, but there was no visible injuries on him.
"Haaaaaaaaa..."
Kain released a breath of relief as he laid his head back down on the pillows.
His mind remained disoriented after the vivid nightmare, but as he gazed at the ceiling for a while, his awareness gradually returned.
"Oh, that's right... It's almost been a month since I've transmigrated into another world." Kain let out a small chuckle as he spoke.
The nightmare he just had was something that actually happened. It was how he had died in his past life back on Earth.
"Still a bus crash, huh, what a horrible way to die."
Unable to fall asleep again, Kain lies there, staring at the ceiling, lost in his thoughts.
Memories of his transmigration begin to drift into his mind, recalling the times when he first arrived in this new world.
Eden was the name of the world he had transmigrated into. It was a world that was similar to Earth in many ways.
There were only 3 major differences he could think of.
The first was that humans had already long evolved into another species called demi-humans which are categorised into various races.
Such races included elves, dwarves, orcs, druids, giants, felyrian, wolfkin, vampires and many more.
At present, 52 different races are apart of the demi-humans species.
Most demi-humans are similar to humans in physique with only a few differences in their appearances.
The second notable difference between Earth and Eden was the existence of magical beasts.
In general, magical beasts are basically living beings like animals or plants but instead they possess a crystal core inside their bodies.
The crystal cores grants the beasts unique abilities such as breathing fire or being able to turn invisible.
And in rarer cases, some beasts may have dangerous and lethal abilities like excreting poisonous mist or mind controlling abilities.
The world of Eden was mostly filled with magical beasts, creating highly dangerous habitats for demi-humans to live nearby.
Due to this fact, demi-humans lived within modern cities protected by enormous walls.
Although, a large number of the global population of demi-humans mostly lived in numerous small towns and villages across the world.
These numerous towns and villages were different from the big cities as they didn't have the protection of the walls so they are prone to attacks from the beasts.
Moreover, the towns and villages had less favorable societies and living conditions compared to the large cities.
Finally, the third major difference between Eden and Earth was the "Awakening."
The awakening is a specific process that randomly occurs in all demi-humans and the awakened person is bestowed with a supernatural ability called a legacy.
The legacy an awakened person receives is unique to themselves.
It can either be an unremarkable legacy, such as being able to use telepathy but limited to a short range.
Or it can a powerful legacy with destructive capabilities, such as a being able to call a series of lightning strikes on a target.
However, there were disadvantages to receiving a powerful legacy.
In the world of Eden, once a person has awakened, in addition to receiving a legacy, they will also receive a curse as well.
Curses are basically adverse conditions place upon the awakened and can either be mild or severe.
In general, the severity of the curses are directly proportional to the strength of the legacy. So the stronger your legacy is, the stronger the your curse will be.
Overall, these three aspects of Eden made it truly unique.
"Haaaaaaaaa..." Kain let out another long sigh.
He brought his right hand above his face. In the center of his palms, there was a small black circular shape tattoo, that served as a symbol of his awakening.
Kain had already awakened a month ago, during his transmigration.
"Status." Kain called out quietly.
Immediately, a beam of soft blue light flowed out from the tattoo, forming a square shape holographic screen right above it.
The screen revealed a status information that included his personal information as well as his awakened details.
