Chapter 27 - Aftermath

Kevin was paralyzed.

Literally paralyzed.

He can't stand on his own four paws, his back hurts so much that he gets dizzy trying to stand up. One of his fluffy paws was broken. His precious shiny fur is now covered with red spotted bandages, making him look like a dumpling with ketchup.

Lawrence did a good job patching him up....

Is what Kevin wanted to say but his smart protagonist clearly doesn't know how to treat the injuries of a cat.

After the incident, the whole Wilson Manor was in chaos. The maidservants left one after another. Most of them had witnessed the terrible occurrences in the mansion and knew what kind of monsters they were working for. They have long been looking for a chance to escape but because of the Master of the Manor, no one was successful.

Now that he's dead, almost all of them left their duties and run straight to the gate as fast as they can.

Obviously, Lawrence's family members noticed this but they could not care less.

Because at the moment, they have bigger problems.

The strength and vitality of a vampire comes from the Master. Without him, they are nothing.

The family took great measures in granting the Master's request and obeying his commands. He was also the strongest among the vampires so they were not worried if he would die.

Surprisingly, he did die.

And his death meant their end.

That is the scene the old butler and Lawrence witnessed after they went out of the underground secret passage.

Lawrence's father, mother, and brothers were lying dead in the living room. The police were rushing around to control the scene.

No point in calling for an ambulance.

What they just witnessed could not be explained through the naked eye.

Just an hour ago, they summoned the whole Wilson family into the living room again because they found the body of a maidservant hanging inside her room.

They are still in the middle of interrogating them when suddenly, the middle child starts screaming, clutching his heart.

The first officer to respond attempted to perform first aid but was frozen in fright when he saw the young man's face started to wrinkle. His skin and face began to change as if he aged thirty years old within seconds.

He grew thinner, his hair thinned out, and his muscles sunken, until the middle child was all skin and bones.

It was like his blood was drained out of him.... just like the two women victims. The father and mother started to suffer the same symptoms as well.

It was a shocking sight!

No one did not know what to do. Until the maidservants started screaming their heads off and ran away.

The police officers reacted, they stopped some of the servants from escaping, but it was like hell broke loose. The maidservants will bite, scratch, and kick whoever tries to stop them from going out.

Like a bunch of lunatics that wanted to escape their hospital ward.

The chief was at a loss that he was just standing right there as if rooted in the spot, his mouth gaping at the scene.

As luck would have it, Lawrence and the old butler cross paths with him. The chief was shocked to see how badly injured they were.

"Somebody bring first aid here!"

The chief hurriedly supported the butler and assisted him in sitting on the couch.

Someone took Lawrence's shoulder and assisted him to sit in a chair. His injury was in his head, the personnel noticed the heavy bag Lawrence swung in his shoulder. A soft fluffy fur peeked out, making the personnel hesitate.

A cat?

"Please treat my cat as well. It's heavily injured.." Lawrence noticed the personnel's line of sight and opened the bag he hastily grabbed for Nala.

Curled up obediently in the bag, Kevin looked up at the personnel's face with his big sparkly jade eyes. He tilted his head and gave a weak meow before he meekly looked down and slowly closed his eyes.

Both the personnel and Lawrence's hearts were aching. Nala looked so weak and fragile.

Lawrence disregarded his head injury and carefully lay Nala in the table, he tugged on the bag and it tore on both sides, revealing Nala's weak figure.

It's soft and fluffy fur was stained with blood, it's no longer smooth. Some of the blood had coagulated and it hardened on Nala's fur.

Lawrence was feeling helpless looking at his precious cat. Aside from putting on bandages, he really doesn't know what to do.

How do you treat a cat's injuries?

Humans' injuries are obvious, they will express it if they are in pain. But animals are different, especially his little cat. Lawrence was trembling slightly when he was patching Nala. He was being careful, afraid of making the injuries worsen.

Every second, he doesn't miss asking if it's too tight or does it hurts. But every time he looked at Nala, his precious little kitty would stretch its paw on his hand, and rub him a little before letting out a soft meow that scratched his heart.

Are you trying to comfort me?

Lawrence's heart ached the more he watched Nala.

He could not withstand seeing him in pain. Lawrence doesn't want to meet any of his family right now because of what happened but... he doesn't have a choice.

Nala needs help.

William as well.

****

That was the initial reason. But coming here brought unexpected surprise.

Killing the Master of the Manor killed the whole Wilson Family... all except him who wasn't turned into a vampire.

Kevin, Lawrence, and William were given immediate treatment. After a few days of recuperation, the police found them for questioning.

William doesn't want to reveal anything about vampires because it will shake the public, and it will bring harm to Lawrence especially now that he's the only Wilson left.

But Lawrence wanted to expose everything.

The police were stunned speechless for their confession. Disbelief was clearly written all over their faces.

Lawrence brought such a strong argument to the table, backed by definite proofs, there was no way to deny the impossible truth.
