Chereads / Soul Leap: A Dead Man’s Impotence / Chapter 3 - The Endless White Void

Chapter 3 - The Endless White Void

The mall has its sections dimmed of dusts, where light briefly displayed from narrow cracks up above.

"The hell is going on? It's incredibly painful", Placido was unable to breath, even forcing to gasp and choking as he spits out blood.

"This… this is much worse than before", He thought as he convulsed; a shard of glass piercing his left arm.

Placido Looked all around, caught his breathe and stared in darkness, "Deborah?". He walks slowly, hitting the ground with his feet, his body shaking and blood dripping as he wandered. He clenched his teeth and began to run.

"Deborah!" Placido shouts going about, leaping on the bumps of large rocks of the mall as he makes his way to its sections. "Deborah!",

The rooms, stores, fast-foods were covered up with debris. The massive rocks narrowed the hall and the figure of Joldibee cut in half still standing beside the store. Placido grabbed the massive rock beside the figure, quivering as he attempted to lift it, "This magic… Is damned worthless!".

He jumped up high looking into all the apertures of the room. The mall was vast on the other side of debris, with such a space there was not a glimpse of a human body. Placido never had any hope to begin with but this he thinks is all he could do.

His eyes got blurred out as he returns to sections he's already inspected and gone to another section he's been to.

"Deborah", Placido's voice gotten weaker.

"Ah, I see… This is it… What can I do? I've lost everything… no ambition… no nothing… And then this?". He kneeled down, staring up to the mall's wide-ranging ceiling with light narrowly slipping into the place.

The ground shook, the walls disintegrated as another shock wave occurred. Dusts rained as the mall's roof cracked. The light creeped in as the roof itself breaks apart, but Placido was not abstracted. His eyes opened looking up above, a person, hovering in the sky. The roof continued to fall and everything slowed down. Placido gradually started to close his eyes as it was a familiar sight, a memory when he had stared up above another dimmed ceiling in which light came from the side as he lied down, pebbles tapped around.

The air vibrated splitting the roof apart, turning it to pebbles as it falls. The person up above, drifted with his hands opened forward disintegrating the mall as any part gets closer to its palm. The rocks, drilled and broken to pieces and Placido deafened, finally closed his eyes and truly has passed out.

Sounds of slashes surround the mall. Blasts from a battle of a magician, a man holding a sword glowing in red gas, with his hair drifting along the blasts of the fight. With him, a dark creature with 8 noodle-like arms on its spine, moving with its massive hands of what seems that of a human being, a head with concealed eyes and teeth dimmed white. Dusts and ashes falling, buildings continued to make their noise, while the two clash.

The dark creature whips two of its pointed arms at the swordsman, he avoids the attack but a barrage of the other 6 arms approached him; the man's sword coursed through the arms in an instant, launching the arms behind the creature itself.

He cuts the other two arms as it shoots towards him from its rest behind, the other 6 arms surrounded him as the creature grins and jumps towards him; He avoided the attack, blinked far to the side leaving fumes on his previous position; he pointed his sword behind himself, his hand through his arms unsheathing its radiating red before he slashed the distant creature in midair slicing even through a building behind. The dark creature fell down in half.

The mall broke down, disintegrated, a naked man appeared behind all the debris and dusts drifting in smoke above the mall. The swordsman lowered his eyes staring at the man in midair,

"A merged soul", he said with his piercing eyes, undaunted of the seemingly powerful being, A woman from up above landed beside him, sliding, slowing down.

"Need my help?", smiling and panting as she said

"No"

"eh what?"

"there are people in the mall, though probably none of them are still alive", The swordsman said.

The woman breathing heavily, she continued, "… yeah… but we should take that down first"

"we can't have them as collateral"

"Did you not hear yourself earlier?"

"There's one that's probably still a…"

The naked man appears in front of the swordsman, large fumes rushed directed at him, blowing away the debris, with his surroundings all disintegrated, the swordsman vanished. In an instant, the woman immediately was in the air and splashed the naked man bringing an explosion as he was hit. A large ball of fire surrounded the naked man but he was unfazed and jumped up to her front with his one hand in front of him and his palm facing her.

Her skin unsheathed its pink radiation but all the debris behind her disintegrated, the air vibrated, shrieked, as her radiation shield cracked open; the air slit her face, her heart raced as blood gushed out of her slits vanishing as it escapes her body. The swordsman with his sword slashed the naked man, unable to cut him, the naked man bounced to the ground, slammed to debris.

The swordsman dashed to the naked man, cutting him in half from the chest as he stood up. The woman behind the swordsman gasped, her body shaking with blood spread out throughout her body. She fell down with widened eyes for death and destruction flashed before her eyes. He came towards her and grabbed her by the shoulder,

"Rest for now… and take that one with you", some dude, kneeling in the midst of smoke with large rocks encompassing him. Her sight cleared out, looking at her own blooded hands, still shivering

"Right", She said as she squinted at the man kneeling in the midst, Placido.

A bright room with purely white walls surrounds Placido, walls that seems to be endlessly far from reach.

"Where am I?"

"Where is this supposed to be? Hell? ... No… It's too bright here… instead, am I in heaven?". A dark humanoid figure stands with him in the void. One that has no facial features, only a black figure standing in the white room with no dead end.

"Who're you supposed to be?", the humanoid walked about, encircling him,

"HOY!", Placido shouted but the dark humanoid ignored him. He stared at it as it walks about. In such a place, no physical thing can be felt as Placido touched his own body.

The humanoid stopped moving about and Placido slowly walked towards it, staring at the being. The humanoid reached out its hand, its palms facing the opposite, seemingly a handshake. Placido came closer but he stopped and squinted at the figure, confused as to what it was supposed to be for. His eyes wandered around on the humanoid.

Placido hesitantly extends his arm towards the figure and through just a touch, immediately all became dark, pitch-black.

A shout of a thin voice echoed, "Placido!".

Placido woke up and found himself lying in a seat similar to that of a plane's, in a place filled with similar seats and windows beside. The broken-down city could be seen from up high,

"An airplane", he whispered.

Explosions continued to occur in the middle city. Monsters roamed about as magicians fought them. The dark furred creature with its colossal arms as if it was an arm of a gorilla smashed buildings.

Magicians flew around, blasting the monsters with fire. A monstrous spider enlarged in the city, radiating in blue; its arms were sharp, glowed as crystal, enormous as it challenged the dark furred creature. The airplane shook as battles occurred beside it.

A woman covered in bandages around her whole body, with only her eyes uncovered and her long light-rosy hair, as she stood out on the plane's roof. She unsheathed a sparkling red barrier so as to defend the plane from gigantic birds. She blasted fire around to fend them off.

The plane moved along, and the noise of the destructions lessened. The bandaged woman went back in the plane through its hidden wheel. She snuck onto the plane's guest room and came out of the roof's vent.

"Ki… Kris? Where'd you came from?", said the girl with circular eyeglasses, one with short sky-blue hair. She jumped out of her seat with the table filled with papers, and a large book of healing magic left opened on it.

"Huh? You came out and you're still covered in bandages"

"I had to…", said Kris, the bandaged woman as she coughs, and spots of red appeared around the bandages. The girl rushed towards her as Kris fell onto her arms.

"You should've called me"

"It's not like I'm still injured"

"You idiot… Come on", the girl went under her armpits and slowly walked towards the bed.

"Hey! I'm fine"

"Look at your damned self, you're covered in blood", The girl said as the bandages' of the woman gradually turned red.

"Alright but I can walk", she pointed at the bed, which was just 2 meters away. She stood up straight, walked and lied down the bed. The girl brought her chair from the table onto the side of the bed and sat as she set her arms toward Kris.

"This is the last time, I won't be healing you again alright?"

"Maybe if you would've gone outsi…", Kris coughs

"What?"

The bandaged Kris gritted her teeth looking intently at the girl.

"ahem, I get it… right, sorry"

Kris breathes heavily as she looked away from her.

"Ok, here goes", water emerged out of the girl's arms, and all went directly towards Kris as the water coursed throughout her bandaged body.

The girl held her arm as she sat up on the bed and removed the blooded bandages around her.

"There you go, take a nap sideways though… Here, hug this pillow", the girl gave Kris the already near to the bed pillow and Kris snatched it from her.

"Mikee…", said Kris as she closed her eyes and continued, "Thanks"

"You stay there", Mikee said.

Mikee smiled while she sat on the sit beside the bed as she wipes off the sweat on her forehead, worried of the friend. Such gratitude from her friend was unusual. She breathes heavily before she got up and went to the door. She then glanced at her before she went out.

Mikee passed through the plane's rooms, and on the last, there was Placido, lying in a seat with his feet up over the side. The man was blooded, wounded, such that his arms were completely red. Mikee walked slowly towards him and scanned her eyes around, with her face completely straight.

To her surprise, the man's eyes directed at her, but the body could only flinch as blood drips from his fingers.

"So can you talk?", she said as she stood in front of him to the side of the seat and stared at him with her eyes partially closed. She then sat on the opposite seat faced toward the wounded man.

"Hmm… I wonder how you got here?", she said and Placido's eyes widened.

She looked down and crossed her arms, casually bouncing her index finger onto her thumb. In half of a second, her hand flashed in front of her, such that her arm extended in an instant. A slash of a blue light hit Placido's arm, such that it began from her finger bouncing onto her thumb. Much more blood gushed out of his arm, as she sat there waiting. He wailed briefly and shut his mouth, gritting his teeth as the half his arm bended over. He clenched his teeth and tears dripped off over his red cheeks.

She opened her eyes from her squint.

"uh… damn it", she stood up and rushed over him as she held the bended arm and lifted it up. Water surged out of her whole body and rushed onto Placido. The water covered him up as it radiates blue. Placido choked, unable to breathe from the water and wavered his body as he floated from the seat.

"damn it", she said yet again.

The blood around him vanished as his slits, wounds gradually was covered. Placido closed his eyes and stopped moving, calmed down. He then slowly lowered to the seat and the water came out of him and vanished as it returns to Mikee's body. Placido's wounds gone completely, but his scratches and dirt was still there.

"Did she brought you here?", she asked but the man was fast-asleep. She sat to the other seat again and looked out the window.

"Guess we're out of the city now".
