James was a hard working boy, who wake up every day at the down of the day, hurrying himself to school preparation, since he was in the final year of his high school education.James was a first born son of Mzee George Clifford who was a truck driver in one company transporting timbers to be used to make papers and other materials related to wood work.
but unfortunately one day George got involved in a tragic road accident which left him in a cold blood hence losing his life on road,and that marked the new begging of life journey for James.
That morning after assembling himself up for school,the mother who was in his room still in a slumber land, called him in a faint voice that indicated that everything was not normal and okey, because it was not an usual thing for his mother Tymei to inquire for him at such a time,when he reached there,he learned that she was in a health critical condition and she needed a quick medical attention.
She was rushed to the hospital in the aid of neighbors and other well wishers since they had no funds to gather for themselves because of the demise of their bread winner George.
When they arrived in the health facility,she was diagnosed and found that she was suffering from Anaemia which had infected her to the marrow this caused them again to look for people who will donate blood since her blood level was at a minute level until her legs had started swelling.
Good number of people came to step in for the donation but it was not enough because most of them, the blood was not compatible with hers.That day James missed school since he was to stay in the hospital with her parent so that he can nurse her.
Tymei after suffering from that illness for about one week,the condition worsened and she was transferred to another hospital, but now the problem was who will pay the hospital bill and most of thier relatives had abandoned them for the reason that Tymei was the cause of his husband death and we all know that it was through a road accident.
Hospital attendees refuse to assist them because of money issue despite fact that James mother was now in a total critical condition,they stay there without attending to her until she faced her death,but before her soul was disconnected with the body,she called James beside her bed and told him some words which she instructed him to adhere to it to the ladder.
" My son listen carefully,the word has two types of individuals,the real one and on the other side the fake one,so please make sure you understand each personality and never even at once trust a human being, and much important you must work extra hard in everything you do plus pray to God every endeavour," she concluded and swallowed the last breath.
James was left in a bitter tears not to know what he can do after that big lose and the only parent he had left with. He mourned his mother for a long period of time,he almost cried his heart out but nothing changed because even if you shout to your top voice you can not render back a dead body to life again.
Her mother was at long last laid to rest in her forever bed "grave" ,that day James felt like the world could swallow him alive because he had now left as a total orphan with no one to lean to.He was left with a house well furnished together with most attractive decorations,this was because of his mother when she was alive she used to be someone who hated doing things in a tidy manner and placed sanitation a first priority in life.
The aunties came to occupy the premises displacing him but one of his relatives had mercy on him and allowed him to stay with them,now James was a stranger in his own home,so painful.
It has passed two months since Tymei was buried but her words still rings in James mind like the who was told just yesterday,he kept those instructions in heart and mind by hundred percent followed them strictly. The best offer they gave to him was taking him back to school and that was the only golden opportunity he remained with in this world full of trouble and challenges.
James in school was a middle class student in terms of content understanding and concept memorizing who always scored atleast a minimum required C+ which could enable one to join a high learning institution in his country,but, when he started applying what he was told James became among the top student in that class because he changed and took his studies with the seriousness it deserves.
When he sad for the final exam James applied all that he had been thought in class by his tutor and other educational advisers,he was among the first student in his class,until his aunties could not believe if truly he can manage to pass with such high marks. Actually,he basically scored an A (plain) which was the grade he never attained in his entire learning period.
His guardian sold some part of their land so that they may finance him in the University and other expenses that may arise,they purchased everything that was required for one to join,
new clothes,shoes,blanket, bathing attires,new suitcase and a smart phone and this was the first time he ever possessed a phone in his all life.
This marked the new phase in his life when he joined campus but the worse happened when he joined University and met with Alex who was at that time a second year student pursuing a bachelor of education arts (Math/Business).
Alex introduce James to Joan a girl who was her class mate and also a course mate.
