Far south on a solitude island, a storm raged ferociously, causing all the inhabitants to take shelter, but in a specific house, a mother battled to give birth to twins, twins that would change the island for generations, twins that became living legends.Â
Chapter 1 - Warriors
Sloth yawned loudly, "I'm getting tired Grizzly".
"Ssshh, you don't want to get caught do you" grizzly said.
Grizzly watched in awe and excitement as the warriors battled the beasts, his fighting spirit was burning in his heart. Suddenly Sloth began snoring loudly.
Grizzly pinched Sloth's nose causing him to wake up suddenly and yelp aloud.
"You can't sleep ya lazy oaf, the mercs are fighting, you won't get to see this for a long time so wake up and watch."
Suddenly the lid of the barrel the boys were hiding in was lifted and they were both pulled out.Â
"I knew there was something weird with this barrel, there was a foul scent coming from it."Â
The boys hadn't even noticed they was pulled out because the battle was getting intense. Chesmu proceeded to throw them both to the ground.
"LISTEN TO ME WHEN IM TALKING TO YOU IDIOTS!" He yelled.
"Ow that really hurt, you old fart" Sloth groaned.
"Uhm I'm sorry sir we just wanted to see the mercs fighting." Said GrizzlyÂ
Chesmu scoffed, "you could've put yourselves in danger, this is no place for children, the battlefield only accompanies death, you both could've died here, and what would we tell your mother?"
"We could've died! Mother would kill me if she found out I died!" yelled Sloth
"How can she kill us if we are already dead Sloth you idiot, we are really sorry sir please don't tell mother I beg" said Grizzly with his head on the floor.
"Well, it's not up to me whether your mom finds out, in the meantime though."
Chesmu picked both the boys up and stuffed them back into the barrel.Â
"You both will stay here and don't make a sound."Â
The mercenaries began retreating, the mission was done, Grizzly and Sloth could hear the warriors rejoicing.
"I deserve all the drinks in the world for the number of beasts I put down!" a warrior called out.
"You would've been dead without my help you fool" another soldier scoffed.
The soldiers began fighting, but the fight got broken up instantly by Chesmu,Â
"Look if you guys want to be happy, first we got to get back home, start putting the barrels and equipment back on the ship so we can get out of here."Â
The Warriors began packing up, Grizzly could feel his barrel getting picked, causing Sloth to fall on him while sleeping. He could feel the boats waviness in the water.Â
"HEAVE HOO" the warriors yelled in symphony as they rowed the boat.Â
"With these winds and the state of the sea, we'll be back home in no time. Thank you, mother, for watching over us." Chesmu prayed.
"One day we will become warriors and fight beasts, we just need to grow up and get stronger, to do that you need to stop sleeping Sloth." Grizzly whispered.Â
But all he got was more snoring as a reply. "Fine let's sleep for now, tomorrow we grow up and get stronger" he said in a drowsy voice falling asleep.
As the sun began to set Teresa wondered where her children were, they should've been back home by now she thought, until suddenly she heard knocking at her door. It must be the boys she thought as she opened the door, she was surprised to see General Chesmu carrying a barrel.
"Oh G- General Chesmu, what brings you here?" Teresa StutteredÂ
"I believe this is for you" he said as he put the barrel down in front of her.
"I wasn't expecting any sort of deliveries" she said confused.
"I'm quite sure you were expecting this" General Chesmu said as he walked away.Â
Teresa looks down in confusion, she opens the lid of the barrel and is shocked to see Grizzly and Sloth sleeping in the barrel.
Chapter 2 - Destiny
The next morning
Grizzly and Sloth left their house, but before they could get far their mother yelled out.
"You boys better be back home before sunset, I'm going to dance practice and make sure you boys don't leave the village area, am I Understood!"
"YES MOM" the boys said in unison as they raced to the village centre.
As the boys ran, their best friend Tabi noticed them and began running by their side.
"Hi Grizzly, Hi Sloth, did you see it? how was it?" said Tabi.Â
"Hi Tabi, I was sleeping," said Sloth.
"I saw it, it was epic! The warriors were fighting and killing the beasts as a team and the beasts were as big as trees!" Grizzly said excitedly.
"Wow that sounds cool I wish I could've come," said Tabi.
The boys made it to the centre of the village where market stalls were propped up, they went to their favourite stall that sold their favourite sweet pastry, baklava. Grizzly bought 3 to share.
"Listen guys we need to get stronger somehow so we can become the best warriors and help our village!" Said Grizzly
"But how do we get stronger? We are still only kids." Said Sloth
"Yea we have to wait until we grow up and become big kids." Added Tabi
An elderly lady wearing a cloak overheard the conversation she took a close and focused look at the three boys, she could see it, the aura radiating from their body. She approached the boys as they were conversing.
"I see you boys want to become warriors." She muttered.
The boys turned and looked at her in confusion.
"Sorry where are my manners, my names Faerah but you boys can call me Aunt Fae."Â
"My mum said not to talk to strangers," said Sloth.
Aunt Fae laughed, "your mother taught you well, but I am no stranger, I am Aunt Fae."Â
"Oh right, hi Aunt Fae" the boys said in unison.
"WAIT WHO THE HELL IS AUNT FAE" they said in unison again.
"Can you teach us how to become warriors!" Exclaimed Grizzly
Aunt Fae turned her attention to Grizzly. "You shine the brightest out of the three."
Grizzly pointed at himself, "Me?"
"You all have incredible untapped potential to become warriors, but you will never be able to access this potential if you don't take a leap of faith and courage."
"We are ready for any challenge, please tell us how do we become stronger!" asked Grizzly.
Aunt Fae turned her body, the boys turned to face the same direction.Â
"There is how" she said without pointing.
"The baklava shop!" exclaimed Sloth.
"That white stork?" asked Tabi
"NO, YOU FOOLS! THAT!" She pointed.
"M-m-Mount Grizzly!" Grizzly exclaimed.
"Yes, that is where your destinies lie, climb that mountain and at the peak lies your long-awaited power". Aunt Fae replied.
"But we can't climb it, Mum said it was dangerous and everyone who tried never came back!" Sloth explained.
"because they weren't worthy, Mother Nature only lets those who she deems worthy reach the peak."
"We'll do it." Grizzly butted in.
"But Grizzly, it's dangerous." Tabi said nervously.
"I know, but this is our destiny, I can feel it, the mountain calling to me."
"By the way what are your Power Surges, you do know them don't you?" Asked Aunt Fae.
"I'm a Grizzly Bear, Sloths well you could guess… a Sloth, and Tabi is a Gorilla."
"My mum says that's why I'm always sleepy" Sloth Adds.
"No" Aunt Fae Replied.Â
"No?" Grizzly said confused.
"Sloth is not a Sloth, he is a Sloth bear, the Guru assessing you kids was probably an amateur."Â
"with the combined strength of you three, climbing that mountain should be assured, all that's left is for you three to find the courage." Aunt Fae said as she walked away.
"If you boys end up climbing the mountain, come meet me at homestead, I have a gift for you." She said as she pointed to her homestead.Â
"A gift? Its probably baklava." Sloth said drooling.
"Let's go guys" Grizzly commanded.
"To the mountain!?" Tabi asked.
"yes lets just see how it looks" Grizzly said as he walked towards the mountain.
After a long walk the boys finally made it to the mountain, the boys astonished by its size all slowly look up in perfect synchronization, its peak was covered by clouds, they couldn't see how tall it was.
"HEY" a voice exclaimed from behind them.
The boys turned in unison to see a girl around their age. She didn't look amused.
"You guys' can't be here" she said.
"We were just taking a look at the mountain" Grizzly replied.Â
"Why there's nothing to look at really, also you're going to be in trouble if the guards see you" she said.
"Mum is going to be angry at us Grizzly we have to go." Said Sloth
"Yea we saw the mountain lets go now" added Tabi.
"Grizzly? That's a weird name" the girl added.
"My mum said she named be after this mountain, and I think its my destiny to climb it" Grizzly said proudly.
"Climb it? Destiny? HAHAHAHA what a joke, you know that no one has ever managed to climb that mountain or even come back from trying?" Said the girl.
Grizzly ignored her and started walking up the mountain.Â
"HEY, DID YOU HEAR WHAT I SAID? YOU CAN'T CLIMB THAT MOUNTAIN, ITS OFF LIMITS AND YOUR JUST A KID YOU'RE GOING TO DIE". The girl yelled.
"Grizzly! What are you doing!?" Tabi exclaimed.
"You can't climb it right now Grizzly, it would take months to reach the top and mum said to be back by sunset!" Sloth added.
"Relax, I'm just going up a little to see how it looks, I'm not going to climb it yet." Said Grizzly as he walked up the mountain.Â
The girl saw the guards approaching.
"Hey what's with all the noise over here?" they yelled from a distance.
"GRIZZLY THE GUARDS ARE COMING WE HAVE TO GO BACK NOW" Sloth and Tabi said as they ran after Grizzly. Grizzly turned around and saw the guards.Â
"OI YOU BOYS STOP RIGHT THERE YOUR NOT ALLOWED TO CLIMB THE MOUNTAIN!" The guards said as they ran towards the mountain.
The boys instinctively started running up the mountain because they didn't want to be caught.Â
The guards stopped at the foot of the mountain.
"We can't go follow them; we will be condemned by Mother if we are not worthy" Said One of the Guards
"But what about the boys that went up!" the girl said.
"If Mother shows Mercy, then she will let them come down safely if they turn back" the other guard added.
The boys continued running up the mountain until they ran out of breath.Â
"Grizzly, *huff huff* we have to go back now," said Sloth.
"Sloth's right *huff huff* there's no other way back down" Tabi added.
"Fine let's go back, mums going to kill us when she finds out." Grizzly sighed.
The boys began descending the mountain. After a while Tabi became concerned.
"Umm… guys didn't we just pass this weird looking thing" Tabi said as he pointed at a statue that resembled a face.
The boys looked at the statue. Their demeanour changed to dread.Â
"Now that I think about it, we went past one of it while running from the guards, and while we've been walking down, I've seen it 3 times!" Said Grizzly
"Guys… look over there" Sloth muttered shakingly.
The boys looked down the mountain and had realised that they were much higher than they were before, they could see the entire village. Suddenly a strong breeze began passing through them.Â
"BUT HOWS THIS POSSIBLE WE WERE WALKING DOWN WHERE WE CAME FROM AND NOW, WE ARE MUCH HIGHER" Sloth yelled franticly.
The boys started racing down the mountain while sweating profusely.Â
"This can't be happening right now" Grizzly thought to himself.
The boys stopped after running for a while and looked down. Terror began to set in. they could barely see below them. Tabi fell on his butt. All the boys began to realise. They were stuck on the mountain.Â
"We're stuck here…. We can never go home" Sloth said as he began to cry.
"We are going to die" tabi said while whimpering.
Grizzly also began to tear up. But wiped his tears before they could fall down his face.Â
"Guys we are going to do it now" Grizzly said with determination and fire in his eyes.
The boys stopped whimpering and looked up at Grizzly.Â
"We are going to climb this mountain and make it back home; we are going to fulfill our destiny".Â
