The crowd got a bit rowdy because of the negotiation between Xie and the town crier. Some people were curious to know who Xie was. Some of the curious had someone who simply told them the merchant's name without other details, while others were kept curious.
"Everyone quiet down," the town crier said.
The crowd became quiet.
"This fine gentleman here is the popular merchant, Biefong Xie," the town crier said. "And because of his generosity, I will do the honour of starting over what I was saying.
"The ministry of defence, under the decree of the royal house, is calling on able citizens of Camelot to join the defence programme that will screen citizens worthy of joining the defence unit.
"Incentives have been laid out for citizens who join the programme. The incentives are arranged in tiers, but I have only been told a few to tell you.
"After citizens sign up, go to camp, and stay for 1 month, every citizen would be paid 8 silver coins.
