Lucas turned his wheelchair and looked at Connor with cold eyes.
Connor said, "Annette was also there when the accident happened. I won't just believe Alina's words."
Alina raised her hand to cover her eyes and said, "I don't want to argue with you. I'm in a lot of pain right now. Can you please let me be alone for a while? I'm begging you."
Marcus quickly pulled Connor away.
Annette returned home and felt anxious.
She lay in bed, unable to sleep.
At almost eleven o'clock, Connor finally came back.
Annette immediately sat up from the bed as the door opened.
Connor rubbed her head and asked, "Why are you still up?"
"How is Alina? And the baby?"
Connor sat down by the bed, and after a moment of silence, he said, "She is fine, but the baby is gone."
Annette furrowed her brow and asked softly, "What did she say?"
"Nothing. Just go to sleep."
Annette said, "She must have said something."
"It's late. Get some sleep for our baby, OK?"
