Ash wakes up battered and bruised after he fell inside the hole in the ground. On his hand is a children's book which he used as material research for his English class at a local university.
"Gah! Where am I? I should have known. I knew something was strange about that rabbit." Ash cursed, he checks his body if there are any broken bones, luckily there were none.
He scratches his straight black hair in annoyance, knowing that following that rabbit was a bad idea and he was right. He adjusts his graded glasses and checks his surroundings.
Looking up, he saw that the area he was in is a forest, a bit darker compared to the ones in the book. The sky is also painted with a tint of red and the sun is black as void. Oddly, despite the black sun, everything around him is lit as if it was in the afternoon.
Ash gets up and dusted his black university blazer and fixes his collar, he may look a bit nerdy, but he never forgets to at least put on a good face.
Suddenly, he hears the rustling of a bush nearby.
"(What's that?)" He thought.
Instead of mindlessly going towards the sound, he learned his lesson and kept his distance while keeping an eye on it. He thought that maybe it was a wild animal.
He grabs a nearby stick as a weapon in case the animal charges.
"Uuuuughghhh!" A deep blood-curdling moan can be heard from behind the bush, slowly the animal or creature came into full view.
It appears that the creature's shape is that of a card just like the one in the children's book. However, its face looks mangled up and covered in blood, slowly it shifts its bent up foot towards Ash.
"What the hell!?" Startled, Ash went on the attack immediately, smashing its head with the stick he was holding.
He has watched too many zombie movies that he can positively say that this creature is a zombie and knows its weakness.

He made sure to smash its head until it wasn't moving anymore. Ash wonders if everything was just a dream. Earlier he was just strolling around the campus library until something caught his eye. All he did was read a dusty old book and this happened to him.
Ash felt a sharp pain in his pocket and realizes that the children's book is on fire. He pulls it out immediately and then throws it on the ground. Slowly the book shifts. The bright and cheery cover became bloody and dark, and its title changes to a more appropriate name "Alice in Zombieland"
"Man, talk about cliches, I shouldn't read some random dusty old books lying around." Frustrated, he kicks the side of the tree and thought he's the village idiot for reading an old book that could summon a demon or something.
Ash wonders how can he return to the surface, but when he looked up, all he can see is the red sky. There was no hole or anything as if he just fell down a portal leading to this strange world.
"Braiinnzzzz..."
More zombies pop up surrounding him from all directions. He may not be the school jock, but he's quite confident he can take them on if they move slowly just like the first one.
"Come on! I'll take you on." A large grin appears on his Eastern-looking face. Although he is trapped in a strange world with card zombies, he has a lot of pent-up stress from getting bullied in class.
Secretly, he wanted to be in a zombie movie so that he can go wild and do things he can never do before. He readies his stick like a bat and waited for the zombies.
Suddenly, the zombies all started to run as fast as marathon runners. they charge straight at Ash with their rotting arms outstretched.
"S***!"3x
Ash cursed, he didn't expect that the zombies are all set to hard mode, he knew that if these things bit him, it will all be over. Hurriedly, he spots a twisted-looking hut at a distance and dashed towards safety.
He wasn't an Olympic runner by any chance, but because of the adrenaline coursing through his body, it felt as if he could become one. Ash slams the door behind him and barricades himself using a heavy table.
"Man, this can't be happening. I should find a way to get out of this place and fast!"
*bang!* 3x
The zombies all tried to smash their way inside the hut, slowly they chip away at the wooden door.
Ash looks around to find anything useful, he heads to the kitchen and grabs a knife. Upon returning to check if there is a backdoor, he notices a picture of the Queen of Hearts on the shelf. He thought that if he could defeat the Queen of Hearts, he can finish the story and return back to the real world.
With a clear goal in mind, he nods and then smashes the window to create a passage for him to escape. The door behind him breaks and dozens of zombies pour in.
Ash jumps out and runs in full sprint, because of the noise, it attracted more card zombies to his location.
"Aaaaaaah!"
Ash runs down the stone path leading to a medieval village, he knows that there may be more zombies in that location, but with a horde behind him, he has no other option. If only he has a better weapon than a knife, maybe he can take them on.
"Braaaiinzzz"
"Uggghhh!"
Slowly, he starts to feel his muscles grow weary by the second. Inch by inch, the zombies catch up to him.
A zombie dashed and leaped grabbing Ash's leg, and he trips.
"Ack!"
Without thinking, Ash pulls out his knife and slices the handoff of the zombie before stabbing its head. Ash immediately closed his eyes and mouth before the blood splashed on his face, fearing it may contaminate him. He isn't a hundred percent sure whether or not he's safe, but if he is sick, he wants to die fighting.
More zombies run up to him, he tries to pull out the knife but it's stuck within the head of the zombie earlier. He ditches the knife and flees.
"Hah! Hah! Hah! I can't do this anymore." Exhausted and bloodied by the blood of the zombie, Ash scuttles to the center of the village. In the center of the village is a well with zombies wading in the water.
All around him are more zombies eating their fellow card people until none is left. His life flashes right in front of his eyes as the zombies converge on his location itching for some fresh Human meat.
His life wasn't anything special, his father is an army ranger and spends most of his life on the field. All he is left in his home is his jock of a brother and his Asian mother that knows nothing but to serve Kimchi for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
"I wonder what Hanna would say if she knew I died the first day at a zombie movie." Ash chuckles as he remembers his only childhood friend Hanna. He never had a girlfriend in his life, but even so, Hanna was always there to cheer him up.
She may be a bit of a tomboy and as straight as a stick, she was the only friend he had from kindergarten to high school. The two of them were separated when Ash aced the entrance exam of the university. Unfortunately, Hanna never made it.
Ash wanted to meet her again after two long years just to say farewell. He sat in the middle of the village accepting his fate.
He closes his eyes and heard the zombies getting closer by the minute.
"I guess this is it huh." He doesn't know what it's like to be torn apart piece by piece, but he knows it won't be painless.
"Braiiinnnzzz!"
The zombies all lash out at him, to the point he can feel their ammonia-filled breaths. Ash grits his teeth without fighting back when he heard the loud sound of gunfire.
*Tatatatat!"
"Huh?" Ash opens his eyes only to see every zombie in front of him is dead, they all have bullet holes all throughout their bodies and bathing in their own pool of blood.
"Do you need a hand?"
A soft-spoken voice reverberated around the zombie-filled village. There, on top of a building is a blonde haired girl with blood covered white and blue dress just like her gleeful eyes. The blood-soaked white ribbon on top of her head is tied up looking like two rabbit ears.
She appears to be two years younger than Ash just like Hanna, around eighteen years of age. She may be carrying two light machine guns in each hand, but Ash knows that this is the main character of the story.
"Alice?" Ash muttered.
Alice jumps down from the three-storey building and landed in front of Ash with a flip. She's holding the two m249's like it is as light as a toy, but Ash knows they were real and heavy.
Alice didn't reply, she aims her weapon at the horde in front of her and says a few words with a look that could rival a madman.
"IT'S LOCK AND LOAD BABY! AHAHAHAHAHAH!!"
Alice laughs maniacally as she shoots her automatic weapon like there was no tomorrow, killing every zombie in sight.
"...." Ash has no words to describe the scene before him, the kind and sweet Alice from the book has turned into a completely different person in this zombified world.
