Chapter 1 - 1__Joining Highschool

Kevan, who made 15 years in the previous year of 2019 yet in the very same year, he had finished his First grade's Final year and started looking for highschools in his hometown for next level studies but, to his surprise, no highschool was offering him even half a bursary despite his good report from his studies, simply because of a bad report from the staff of his former school.

He really hated rumours about him which caused his chances of studying in some of the best highschools in town with half a bursary payments turn fierce only allowing him study on account of a full school tuition payment.

This gave a hard time to his mother to pay that much yet his son was really talented and abnormally wise yet failing to obtain a single school to willingly give out a bursary to Kevan.

Knowing that no school in town will give his son a bursary, she decided to send him to a school which was ounce said to her by a friend of hers though it was very deep down in a local village at least it offered a full bursary to students who had gained good points from the middle grade.

"You have to make sure that you play nice this time don't you want to go to better schools like your elder sister, Esther! play nice just find a good report and..."

"Mum, i understand everything you tell me already, you wont visit but i told you, i'm a boy i can look after myself just take care of yourself together with Esther."

"The teacher is here am leaving" After a farewell to my mother, I department from home just very early in the morning at exactly 11:00am.

It was my first longest journey because I slept and woke up several times but there were no signs of hope for the bus to stop. I was with someone I don't know that much but he claimed to be a husband of that lady who told mum about this school so I didn't know much about him either and the journey still boring too progressed on.

In the evening, when it was about dark we left the main road from the bus and headed towards a small and lonely village road with a cyclist from the bus stop. It was so quiet and scary surrounded by bushes either sides but the cyclist seemed to have not witnessed that in any way.

The cycle was at least more comfortable more than that passenger bus that we used in the beginning but still I was so exhausted and was about to force out my lunch when my eyes fell on a town-like-centre.

Yeah, it was still a village but it at least had some people and electric bulbs too so I was in no much worry for now. Most villages lacked electricals so I was of course a bit in surprise.

'Mum will I ever escaped this prison, its very far!' I sighed to my misfortune but still we rode for what looked like 15mins before the cyclist stopped at a big light blue gate at exactly 10pm, finally we were here.

The gateman opened the huge gate at sight of man who came along with me but actually, I lacked trust issues because how can you come with someone who you don't even know his name or where he came from. I trusted my mom maybe but this had to be my last time acting fthis childish.

We entered the gate and my gaze fell on a very big school, it was obvious to be a school because of the displayed classes ahead of me. The gateman asked for my belongings before taking them away to a place that I had no idea about either.

We went towards what looked like the administration area where I just signed my name in a big blue book and then after, I was escorted to a room with a tag atop it's doorway 'STAFF'.

Food was brought without question because I was even getting so lazy to say a word but to be serious, this food was worse than that of my primary level[1], at least they flied the sauce. I guessed someone just sliced some tomatoes plus onions, poured them in the soup and served it to the pigs, because not even prisoners could appreciate this kind of cooking.

I lost the appetite and I did not eat it at all. Planning to leave, I recalled that I have no much pocket money on me. I was really hungry though Ia had some escorts in my book case it was not that enough.

My Mom was just poor to give me pocket money and though I was not fine with it, I had to be a man.

I knew what situation we were having at home so I came well prepared to make money just the same way I did it in my former me school.

Earning while studying...It was a bit tiresome but atleast worth it.

Sitting back, I decided to dig in. Yeah it was bad but still someone like me had to bare with it. After I finished eating I was escorted out by that same guy who brought me.

I was still wondering who this guy was, a mute at times when I heard a commotion coming from a huge and long room, it was tall, very tall i guess but in length, we walked for some time to reach the door yet my eyes couldn't see the end to the other side of the door. I guessed that it was just so long.

'Are village schools good at misusing land' I was still wondering when the loud voices abruptly disappeared and became simple whispers. Students by the window were whispering stuff that I didn't bother to pick on at all. This had to be the boy's wing, so big!

As we entered, I was introduced to a young short guy who was called Ganja after the introduction. I thought it was a nickname already because he looked nothing like a ganja[2] man. He took me to his bed side "your are going to sleep in the middle, I will sleep down the upper deck is occupied"

I started to prepare my deck and have a rest. I was really tired and exhausted so after preparing my bed, I went directly to sleep.

"Well what do we have this time,Ganja man! have you told this new guy the rules already?" Someone said charmingly near my deck.

"He has just arrived right now, can't you give him a break, and it's Mr.Bazibu who have brought this kid. I don't think you would wish for a mess with him" Ganja warned worriedly.

So the guy who has brought me was called Bazibu![2] Such a weird name actually but the Ganja guy calling me a kid, I am even taller than him despite my height, just how dare he call me a kid!

"If Bazibu brought him then,.. so what? which level is he?, what is his name? " the guy this time soubded unpleased.

"I know nothing about him because he seems to be so reserved." Ganja replied carefully because from when the guy entered the dormitory, he used no sound to speak. He even suspected him to be a mute.

"If he said nothing to you doesn't mean he will do the same to me." The same guy with a bold voice boasted around. Kevan being inside his bed surrounded by curtains couldn't find a chance of looking at the person in charge of these boasts and since he found it ridiculous to know who it was. He gave up on coming out and just let fate take its cause.

"Kid you didn't introduce yourself already and you are preparing to sleep, your mom didn't teach you some little manners of greeting elders." Hearing this, Kevan open his eyes wide and with a wave of the curtains, he walked out of his bed slowly.

He looked at this guy attentively to see why he was acting so cocky, but all his hopes of meeting a serious trouble maker dropped to zero. The youth was a simple description of him leaving out only his face, they matched in physical appearance yet on the looks of his face, he was filled with art mosaic looking less attractive and to Kevan's final analysis, he was an ugly lad who was trying to feel comfortable of himself.

Kevan was now wondering where has this fella got the guts of talking about his mother. He couldn't even understand when had they reached that position even.

'Be a nice boy, u have to get a good report' Kevan reminded himself the last and always daily words his mother used to tell him, after calming down completely, he walked back to his bed and ignored that useless lad completely.

"Come on Saz he doesn't look much more than a just a banner, what do form twoes wish to do with banners, why always try to connect with trash man!" Another mocking voice sounded, but still. I acted as though I couldn't hear a thing and stayed in my bed.

"Hah, trash indeed! Hiding in bed today, do you think you will still be taking a nap till night tomorrow?" The same person indirectly promised not to let him off the following day.

"Well, who said that am trash?" From the start of all these till now, this was the first sentence that Kevan said. Firm and not stuttering at all.

"I did, what are you going to do about it, kid." A slim and seriously tall youth walked out from the bark of the ugly mosaic art man and cockily rested both his hands crossed over his chest in a challenging manner.

When Kevan was coming out of bed for the second time, he holding an ink pen in his hand and on the way he was tightly holding it, someone could tell the fury he was hiding ok his face with a smile yet not a smile on it

Seeing how this kid boasted in his presence and not panick at all, the tall youth felt like vomiting blood. How dare this banner brat stand against him so he decided to mock ounce again to regain face.

" Huh, Sarz, for the first time. You are so true. This lad's mother failed at birth, what a waste!" With the crowd which had already formed to watch this upcoming exciting show around, they couldn't help but burst into a laughter.

Yet at this moment, Kevan who was still holding his pen in his right hand from inside his pocket was now triggered from the inside but his face changed not a single breath.

Thinking about how tall this guy is, Kevan wanted to pay some debts so he made programs."Your talking from a far I cant hear you, what, are you scared I might bite you or something?" According to how cocky he acted, I knew my words will put some effort in him and since he underestimates me, I had to assert dominance in a very unkind manner to serve him right.

"Interesting, I have never seen a banner as cocky as you're, its just a 30mins arrive at school and a one month late at school but your this cocky. Was I wrong about you that you actually attended last year?" The tall youth said all of this while walking closer and closer to me and finally, bending a little facing down at the top of my head showing how taller he was than me. Bending wasn't even necessary to do but maybe he wanted to show me my place not knowing that it was about time for him to remember that heights ain't stable either.

"You don't even know why i'm one month late but you still acting cocky in front of me, do you want live?" I wanted to make him angry in order to make him attack first but just instead in my disappointment the guy backed down immediately after raging hot.

"If it wasn't for Bazibu, you would have not acted this tuff maybe he is your father, did your mom give him something nice! I mean, you know... " the guy skipped the bottom line now as the crowd bursted in a loud laughter ounce again, Kevan removed the pen from his pocket in a sec and pushed the guy down the floor. He was about to pierce it through the guys eye when he heard a loud shout calling by the door "KEN, STOP!".

He looked up and met a cold glare of the so called Bazibu starring at him, Kevan just smiled as he looked at the terrified tall guy who was perfectly pinned just by his left hand before raising his pen ounce again, payback is inevitable .

TL...

[1] This can be addressed as the First grade in studies and after it, Middle grade follows and then the Final year also known as the Top Graade.

[2]Ganja is usually a name or title given to Rastafarians or weed smokers from the ghettos. They are usually full of scams and unholy, in myths, so Kevan found it funny meeting a calm Ganja man like him.

[3]Bazibu is a slang in this life of the novel, it can also be interpreted as "problematic" but still from the meaning word "problem". That is why Kevan found the name funny and weird too.
