Chapter 1 - LGTBQI+ IN AFRICA

Its a misunderstanding between the foreign LGTBQI+ and most Africans and African nations but I'm going to specifically elaborate on my experiences and what I've observed in Ghana precisely.

1) Most Ghanaians don't talk ill or gives hatred for LGTBQI+ they just ain't allies either.

Which is understandable, they don't have to like nor dislike and it's absolutely okay to be neutral.

2) I have never heard nor seen anyone being mistreated because of how they dress, talk or carry themselves. No one has been arrested for the sole reason of being gay or dressing in the opposite ways so it is not illegal to be gay.

3) I'm bisexual in Ghana and I haven't had a problem with anyone, I dress the way I want and do everything my way.

4) The only time your sexuality will be a topic of discussion in Ghana is if you involve under age people which happens to both gay and straight people. As long as your sexual activities don't involve a minor, trust me nobody in Ghana cares.

5) Ghanaians major concern with the LGTBQI+ is the fact that the US and other foreign countries are giving kids life changing surgeries that alters the childs life forever.

Ghanaians believe in letting children grow and making decisions for themselves when they are able to legally vote which is understandable because why should a human that's not considered fit to vote be having cosmetic surgeries and hormone disrupters?

6) The LGTBQI+ are a bit entitled and pushy for forcing kids who have verbally or non verbally communicated that they don't want to be part of their organized conversations etc. If someone is queer they are going to be queer with or without those confusing and convincing conversations. Instead of teaching kids sexual preferences how about teaching them confidence in who they feel and think they are, empathy for different kinds of people, acceptance of their life and life choices and the choices of others because through these teachings they will be able to find themselves as queer or straight without the interference of any pedophile adult, be empathetic and accepting to other queer people and straight people and humans in general.

Visiting underage kids in schools and places without parental consent screams bad intentions and threatening to jail parents and take away their kids is only creating more homophobia instead of allies. Leave kids alone until they are 18+ and are consenting adults.

7) Gay people are killed in the countries that has supposedly given queer people rights than even the countries who hasn't given any special rights to queer people so the supposed ally country of queer people should focus on that before pressuring African leaders to give special rights to queer people.

Every Ghanaian is protected by the 1992 constitution and we the queer people in Africa are even safer than those in the first world countries. Don't come and instigate resentment and homophobia for us with your entitled pedophilia and pushy rights in the disguise of advocating for queer rights.

As a queer person coming to Africa or born in Africa just say no to pedophilia, find a consenting adult like the straight people do and enjoy your sexuality trust me no one will arrest you or harass you in any type of way.

You can dress and carry yourself the way you want and no one will care.

I'm a woman married to another woman in Ghana because we invited the family members who wanted to come and a pastor who was willing and the wedding took place in my house. All you need is God's blessings if you are a christian and the blessings of the family members that respects your choices, a piece of written supposed legal papers isn't what holds two people together forever. Love, care, understanding and compromising will always hold you and your partner together even without a wedding.

Be kind
