Madam Su led Madam Li and Daohua back to the third courtyard, sat for a short while, then instructed the maids and old women to prepare the meal.
"This is a soup that Shiyu made early in the morning. Please, have a taste and see how it is," said Madam Su.
Madam Su personally served a bowl of soup to Madam Li while Su Shiyu also filled a bowl for Daohua.
After taking a sip, Madam Li couldn't help but praise, "Shiyu is truly a clever and skillful girl; this soup tastes extremely good."
It delighted Madam Su to hear a guest praise her daughter's cooking and she felt proud, but she humbly replied, "She can't compare to your Yiyi, though. I still fondly remember the pastries I had at your place last time."
The two mothers were complimenting each other's children, creating a harmonious atmosphere at the dining table.
