The cold night of late October passed quietly, and the entire street of Privet Drive was abruptly awakened by the piercing scream of a woman resembling a horse. In front of her stood a basket containing a peculiar child, whose most notable feature was a lightning-shaped scar.
"Why are you screaming, my dear? Has someone harmed you?" inquired a man resembling a walrus as he approached from behind.
"Vernon, look..." Petunia displayed baby Harry, accompanied by a letter and her own explanation about the wizarding world.
"How dare they bring a freak like him to our house! Let's hand him over to an orphanage where he won't pose any danger to us," growled Vernon.
"No, Vernon... What if the other 'freaks' come searching for him?"
They engaged in a discussion about what to do with the child and ultimately concluded that they would keep the boy.
