Chapter 155 - Time Loop

Hearing Anna tell him someone has been following him, Sky was surprised and it was evident in his expression.

"How do you know for sure?" Sky asked.

"What are you saying?" Anna asked back. "I'm not new to this kind of thing. Of course I would know when someone's being followed. And I'm pretty sure I can see him from here."

"You can see him right now?" Sky asked. "That means he's nearby. Won't he hear that we now know he's there?" Sky said in a low tone, trying hard not to look around and scrutinise his environment.

"He's not exactly nearby but he's not far away either." Anna said. "But he can't possibly hear what we're saying. He's too far away for that. Should we go over and say 'hi'?"

"We don't even know who he is." Sky argued. "And why is he following me?"

"Don't you think we should ask him? And who knows how long he's been following you. We can't just let him keep following you."

"So what do we do? How do we go over there without giving him a reason to run?"

"I could shapeshift and fly both of us there." Anna suggested.

"So what, you're gonna carry me?" Sky asked.

"Do you have a problem with that?" Anna asked, smiling while knowing the fact that no teenager would be okay with that but Sky did not really have a choice now. Or did he?

"I've got a better idea." Sky smiled back, knowing he'd definitely thwarted whatever was going through Anna's head. "I've been working on something."

"Do tell." Anna said, intrigued.

"I have my back to him right? So he can't see me."

"Yes." Anna replied.

Putting his hands together in front of him, Sky made his hands form a small ball and as he began to separate them while concentrating intensely, a tiny transparent bubble could be seen.

The tiny bubble got larger the more Sky separated his hands and slowly, it went through him and Anna, encompassing them, making it look as though they were in the middle of a transparent bubble.

"That should do it." Sky said.

"I don't get it. What did you do?" Anna asked. "All I saw was you put your hands together and move them apart."

'I almost forgot others can't see the bubble.' Sky thought. "I kinda put us in a time loop or a time bubble, anyone you wanna call it."

"And what exactly does that do?" Anna asked, still confused.

"Long story short, we can now move freely. Whoever's watching us won't notice a thing."

"How though?" Anna asked, following Sky as he moved and headed towards the school exit.

Turning back, Sky pointed to the place they were standing before. Sky and Anna were looking at themselves still standing there talking to each other, saying the exact same thing to each other.

"How's that possible?" Anna asked, stumped by what she was seeing. "How can we be here and there at the same time?"

"You said it." Sky said. "Time. Basically, what you're seeing is our past selves from a few minutes ago. Our past selves remain in the bubble repeating everything we did in the past few minutes until I cancel the time loop and they disappear, like they were never here."

"That's actually a good skill to have." Anna commented. "Nice. But can't he see us right now?"

"No. I don't really know how to explain it but when I cancel the time loop, our past selves sort of join with us and makes us visible again. The concept of time is very confusing even for me. Let's just go."

At the top of a skyscraper about a mile away from the school, Veer had been watching Sky talk to a lady with long blue hair after the other kids had left.

They were on the school field doing nothing but talking and he could not see Sky's face (only the face of the lady with him). He remembered the lady. He had fought her once before when he was asked to bring in subject 1 – Jake.

Veer rarely ever failed his missions. Even when tasked with killing the mothers of Jake and Sky, he had succeeded and did not leave a trace of evidence behind.

But because of the lady he was now watching as well, he had failed his previous mission and Jake was currently nowhere to be seen. His location was still unknown which he knew from the last time he checked in with Kalvrie.

Veer knew she was formidable. As an Aramante, a clan in the Melynx race, they valued strength above anything else and the lady with blue hair had earned Veer's respect due to the amount of strength she had.

While watching Sky and Anna as closely as ever, Veer noticed something. They had been doing the same thing repeatedly for a while now.

It wasn't very obvious but for someone like Veer who needed to be very meticulous in almost everything, he picked up on the details quickly.

It was the slight body movements and the vague curls in the hair when the wind blew which seemed to start again when it apparently reached an end.

"Something's not right." Veer said to himself. His hair was completely white and appeared to naturally release minute amounts of the white energy he uses.

"That depends on what isn't right." Sky said from behind Veer. "You following me or us being here right now?"
