Staring at the beasts as they got closer to him, Jake was immobilized with shock and a bit of fear. The apex rank was the second highest rank of beasts (just below the mythical rank).
How had the true mages gotten control over such high ranked beasts? How was he supposed to kill them all alone? But seeing the reward in the system quest he had gotten, he had to admit that it was worth him trying his best.
The system had combined the reward of killing all the beasts into one quest and it was very appealing to Jake. He could really use the level up to get stronger.
Snapping out of the shock and fear he still felt, Jake focused on how he was going to kill the beasts and looking at them, he noticed something.
'I can see what rank the beasts are at and their health.' Jake thought. 'Is this a new feature of the system or something?'
He didn't have time to think about it because the first set of beasts to reach him were the flying beasts and he could see they were peak ranked beasts from what appeared over their heads with their health.
There were also four rings on a wing of the beast, one inside the other, which looked like it was branded onto the beast.
Jake knew that it represented the rank of the beast so the system's ranking was accurate.
The large wings of the beasts had just left their small bodies and flew directly towards Jake and began moving from side to side, trying to cut him with how razor sharp it was.
The bodies had fallen to the ground but they also jumped at Jake to attack him. Jake had just dodged four of the wings and when the small beasts tried to attack him, he caught two of them in his hands and kicked the other one at the head of the bone beast that was now very close to him.
With the two beasts in his hands, when the wings slashed at him again Jake used the beasts to block himself bit the wings had deviated from their attacks.
'So they don't attack their owners. What did I expect?' Jake thought.

'Finally, some magic.'
All three of the bone beasts had reached Jake and they had all swung their tails to hit him.
A little bit above their heads, he could see they were apex ranked beasts and the bar for their health was full so still holding the small beasts, Jake pushed off his legs and jumped to the side and as he landed, the wings attacked him again, trying to find any opening they could.
It was like they had a mind of their own. 'Or something is controlling them.' Jake realized, looking at the beasts he was holding.
He had been trying to squeeze the beasts as he held them but their endurance was extreme and even his strength couldn't overpower their skin to allow him to kill them.
'Let's get suicidal.'
The third small beast that he had kicked away had joined the fight again and as it tried to bite his leg, Jake kicked it up and caught it in between his two hands and waited for the bone beasts to attack him.
The limbs of the beasts had fallen off their bodies but Jake had not noticed. He was concentrated on finding the right time while also trying to avoid the wings.
They had already cut him a few times but it wasn't anything deep. He also had a high endurance so he was less bothered. His system would also heal him.
Two of the bone beasts had vanished and as Jake was turning around trying to see where they had gone, they caught him off guard from above and were falling directly on him but Jake had noticed at the last second and managed to flip himself over so his back was facing the floor and the beasts he held were facing the bones under the legs of the beasts.
One of the beasts landed directly on Jake with the beasts in his hand. Its bones in its two front legs piercing right through the beasts like their endurance was nothing and going deep into Jake's chest, about the length of a finger.

Jake groaned in pain as felt the bones of the beast break through his sternum in his chest. The beast roared in Jake's face and as Jake felt it push down on him, he grabbed the bone spikes around the legs of the beast and broke two out of it which made the beast roar in pain and jump off Jake.
Coughing as he tried to stand up after the beast was off him, blood poured out of Jake's chest from the four puncture wounds he had.
The second beast that had appeared from above attacked Jake and due to the slight disorientation Jake felt, it was able to bite into his shoulder and tighten its hold on him as it lifted him into the air in its powerful jaws.

After the small peak ranked beasts were killed the wings had stopped moving so Jake didn't have to worry about them anymore.
As he was lifted into the air, Jake shouted because he felt the teeth of the beast go right through his skin and come out from the opposite side. He was soaked in his own blood and the third bone beast was about to bite into his torso when he raised himself up while using how the beast was biting him as a sort of anchor.
The third bone beast collided into the one biting Jake and Jake, the bone spikes still in his hands, stabbed into the snout of the beast that had its jaws clenched with him in between them.
The beast made a lot of noise and growled in pain but refused to let Jake go. At the moment Jake was covered in a mixture of red and black blood (mostly red) and now, the beast began slamming him onto the ground.

'What the hell am I doing?!' Jake yelled at himself inwardly.
Using a bit of time to figure out how to use the divisibility magic he had mimicked, Jake's arms and legs suddenly separated from his torso and went in different directions but before that, he had released his energy and used it to surround his entire body as a form of protection and to enhance his strength.
An annoying clicking sound could be heard in the background the entire time the fight was happening and it came from the other two peak ranked beasts that had six trunk-like legs.
Due to the size of their legs, they were extremely slow and the fight was constantly moving from one place to another.
Jake's hands, now away from the rest of his body, were stabbing the apex ranked beast all over its body bit were concentrating on the head.
Jake could see that its health had gone below half now with the help of the system and it had finally let go of Jake, though his health was not looking good either.

One of the beasts had immediately used its tail to hit Jake and even with his energy around him, it still pierced through and punctured his torso again, deeper than the others from before.

Jake fell over in pain and brought his limbs back to himself. His legs had been kicking the first bone beast, keeping it busy and he had successfully mimicked the magic of the beasts.

With his whole body covered in blood, Jake got to his feet and his purple energy was still around his body, giving him whatever form of protection it could. He was still holding the bone spikes because they were the only weapons he had.
'Screw this guys.' Jake thought then vanished.
The beasts began searching for him but Jake appeared on one of the peak ranked beasts and stabbed its head with both spikes at the same time.
He did that until he saw that the beast was dead and the health bar above the head of the beast was empty.

He tried to kill the second one the same way but it elongated its pincers and held onto Jake, squeezing him to the point where he head some bones in his forearms crack.

Vanishing again, Jake appeared on the pincers and broke it but the bone beasts had now appeared by his side and one of them hit him with its legs.
Jake's speed was nothing when fighting the apex ranked beasts which only showed him just how weak he was when it came to actual powerful creatures. Even his energy couldn't do anything to help him.

Jake vanished again, trying to ignore the immense amount of pain he felt everywhere in his body.
He appeared a good distance away from them and looked at the apex ranked beast whose health was a bit below half. Focusing all his energy into his fists, Jake left his body unprotected so he could deal a reasonable amount of damage to the beast.
He put the spikes in his mouth since he had nowhere to keep them and vanished, appearing on the apex ranked beast.

He had added all his stat points into his endurance in an attempt to increase his chances of blocking the attacks. His wounds still poured out blood despite the system healing his body but at least now, attacks would be blocked a little bit.
His magic was way stronger than the one the apex ranked beasts had because he was combining it with the strength of the divisibility magic. But he still lacked in strength, speed and endurance.
The bone spikes were from their own body so he figured it should be strong enough to get through their endurance which it was.
Now on the bone beast, he kept hitting its head repeatedly and as hard as he could while yelling. He yelled and tried to increase the strength of each punch as he hit the beast over and over again.
The beast had fallen to the floor and another apex ranked beast had jumped in Jake's direction but Jake had seen it and vanished, making the bone beast land on the one on the ground, dealing a lot of damage.
Jake immediately appeared on the beast again after the other one left and used the bone spikes to stab its eyes and its head until it was dead.

Taking a deep breath to regain his composure and get his bearings again, the peak ranked beast elongated its pincers again from behind Jake and grabbed his neck.
The beast was choking Jake and as Jake tried to open the pincers, the leg that stuck out of the side of the beast elongated and stabbed Jake in his ribcage, stopping halfway through his body.
His added endurance was the only thing that stopped the leg from leaving his body through the other side.

Jake cried out in pain as his eyes bulged out a bit. His energy at this point was not exactly useful against the beasts and using it was only wearing him out more so he took it back into his body.
One of the apex ranked beasts swung its tail and used the end of it, which had spikes and was in the shape of a ball, to hit Jake on his legs and another used its leg to hit him on the head which sent him flying away.

Jake was currently on the ground, looking at his health that was left. His torso was bloody and it had been hit away from his legs which was still in the midst of the beasts.
His hair stuck to his face with all the blood on him and his there were holes everywhere on his body.
'Is this the end for me?' he thought to himself.
