Slowly blinking his eyes as he regained consciousness, Jake felt a searing pain in his head and he felt as if his whole body, both inside and outside, was on fire. That was ironic because fire could not burn him as long as he still had the fire magic.
"What the hell is this!?" Jake said to no one in particular. He tried to move his body but he was completely restrained by chains, the same way he saw Anna. He saw a drip releasing a type of liquid directly into his bloodstream. Trying to use magic, he found out he couldn't and his body felt extremely weak and heavy.
"Don't bother." Anna said to him when she saw him trying to use magic. "The chains prevent your magic from working and the liquid pumping into your system makes you as powerless as a ragdoll."
She was sitting beside Jake, the chains still wrapped tightly around her body and a drip also releasing whatever the liquid was into her body.
"And this is a better condition than in the world penitentiary?" Jake asked.
"Yes it is." Anna said. "In the world penitentiary, people there are kept in pods where they are basically in stasis. No movement, no thoughts, no magic, no strength, nothing."
"So a living zombie then." Jake said.
"Yes Jake, a living zombie. What did you do that made them put you in here anyway?" Anna asked.
"I was looking for you." Jake said, feeling more of his strength leaving him.
"You were looking for me?" Anna asked, actually a little bit surprised that the Jake she and Sky found would put himself in danger for someone else.
"Yeah. A guy can't look for his beautiful former teacher?" Jake asked, staring at Anna's naturally luscious and sensual lips, then taking his eyes lower to the protruding delicate curves even her clothes couldn't hide.
"Hello? My eyes are up here and shouldn't you be thinking of a way to get out of here?" Anna asked him.
"I'm not bothered. If push comes to shove, I can get out of here." Jake said, smiling at the fact that he still had a trump card that the commanders did not know about.
"How?" Anna asked.
"Why don't we save that question for later?" Jake replied.
"What exactly did you mean by you were looking for me?"
"Nothing much. I just partially destroyed part of the barracks." Jake answered.
Sighing, Anna said to Jake, "You destroyed part of the barracks?"
"I know right. It's not like I destroyed the whole place. I'm not even sure I killed any of the soldiers. Okay maybe I accidentally killed a few. They were so annoying. So are you Commander." he said to the glass wall in front of him.
He could not see behind the wall but knew Commander Lucy was most likely watching him from behind it or through the security camera in the corner of the room.
"Anna, have I told you?" Jake asked.
"Told me what?"
"I'm going to be the greatest mage this world has ever seen." Jake said.
"Yay." Anna said with pure sarcasm. "Hurray for you."
"Don't be a killjoy. I promise when I'm the greatest mage, I won't whoop your ass. Though it is a pretty ass and I think you might enjoy it."
"First, that's sexist." Anna said.
"Whatever, doesn't make me less right."
"Second," Anna continued, "if you're going to be the 'greatest mage this world has ever seen', then you should be able to get us out of here."
"I told you..."
"I'm not done." Anna said over what he was saying. "There is no reality where you will ever be able to 'whoop my ass'."
"That's what you think." Jake said. 'I wonder if I can still access the system.'
Thinking about bringing up his system screen, it appeared in his line of sight and Jake was relieved that whatever they were doing to him was not affecting the system.

Sitting in silence for a while, Anna and Jake said nothing to each other until Anna decided to speak.
"What happened to you?" she asked Jake.
"What do you mean?" Jake asked.
"How could you turn into a totally different person in only a month?" Anna asked.
"Do you really wanna know?" Jake asked in a somber tone. Seeing Anna nod in response, Jake said to her, "I was away from you."
"What?"
"Being away from you for so long is what made me like this." he said smiling.
"Idiot." Anna said, knowing Jake was messing around.
"You know? I want to kiss you right now. Is that weird?"
"I don't know, you tell me Jake. Is it weird that you want to kiss a lady older than you with maybe six or seven years?" Anna asked.
"Nope. Not weird at all." Jake answered.
"Shut up. It is weird." Commander Lucy said as a door by the side opened up and she ran in. "I'm taking you guys out of here."
"What's going on?" Anna asked as Commander Lucy ran to her and began taking the chains off.
"Are you seriously asking that!?" Jake said. "Just let her take us out of here. Or would you rather stay? I know I wouldn't."
"The haven is under a full-scale attack by the werts." Commander Lucy said, moving to remove Jake's chains next after removing Anna's. "And it's all your fault."
"I thought we took out the werts." Jake said. "Oh shit. The second base. It's about damn time."
"We have orders to evacuate the haven immediately." Commander Lucy said.
"Orders from who?" Anna asked.
"Who do you think? Your father." Commander Lucy said.
"Can't we stay and fight?" Jake asked as he got up from the chair and walked around, exercising his bones and muscles.
"Fight? Who is going to fight? It took almost hundred percent of the soldiers we have here just to save you guys and bring down one base. There isn't even a slim chance that we can win against the second base."
Going to meet Anna, Jake went closer to her and pressed his lips onto hers, making sure he kissed her for more than five seconds.

"What is wrong with you kids of nowadays?" Commander Lucy asked as she punched Jake away from Anna. "We are under attack and what you do is kiss?"
Running from the wall he had just hit his head on, Jake threw a punch of his at Commander Lucy and when she blocked it as he expected, he gave her a headbutt using all his strength which made her skid a few feet back.
"I wanted to kiss her so I did." Jake said. "I don't give a damn what you think. And that's for chaining me up. Sky!"
