Jake had been getting exp and stat points from the werts he had been killing. Since he had gotten stronger, killing the werts was giving him less exp than before because now he could kill some of them easily.
The one and two-tailed werts no longer gave him stat points and the stat points he got from killing three-tailed werts had reduced by six(6).
After killing the four-tailed wert on the ground by excessively hitting its head, Jake had gotten another system message confirming the completion of the system quest.

Even after seeing the system message, Jake kept on hitting the head of the four-tailed wert and proceeded to hit below the head.
He kept hitting and hitting without stopping and when he finally did, the body of the wert was totally unrecognizable.
Jake had pounded the wert's body with his fists and now, the body looked like mush. The head of the body could not be told apart from the neck or the hands. The constant pounding from Jake had left the body in a hideous state: skin mixing with bones and black blood.
Standing above what could no longer be called a body, Jake was looking down at what he had done to the four-tailed wert and his eyes were the slightest bit teary.
His breathing was ragged and unsteady and bits of memories flashed through his mind: him standing a few feet away and seeing multiple spikes from the tail of a three-tailed wert go through the head of a beautiful girl with black hair and emerald green eyes.
Taking a very deep breath, Jake's breathing became steady and he pushed the memories to the furthest part of his mind once again.
Suddenly, Jake broke into a loud laugh. He faced the pink sky which was clouded with dust and smog and laughed so hard, he nearly fell to the ground, giving off the appearance of a crazy person.
His short display of hysteria was cut short by the fire which now filled up the pink sky.
Turning around and getting a better look at the fire, Jake's laughter died down and a smile crept onto his face. His hair was now scattered across his face and the band he had used to pack it at the back had cut.
While running in the direction of the fire, for a moment, his eyes glowed brightly with purple energy before reverting back to its normal black colour.
Jake was not the only one that had been attracted by the fire in the sky. Anna and Sky had also seen it and they had also headed towards it.
For both Anna and Sky, their mana was already extremely low but they still had to keep fighting. There were still a lot of werts that needed to be killed and now, after fighting for a lot of hours, the mana and stamina of the soldiers had almost completely dwindled.
They had already used the only replenishing serum they had, thinking they would be able to finish the battle once and for all. But they were very wrong.
The werts, though their number had reduced by a lot, still had enough stamina to keep fighting. The werts were far superior to the humans in terms of strength, speed and stamina, so without their magic to help them fight against the werts, the humans would lose terribly.
Continuing to use magic after one's mana had been depleted was deadly and everyone knew it. Still trying to move toward what had produced the fire, Anna and Sky were fighting werts but had stopped using their magic, unless it was absolutely necessary. They could not risk their mana being depleted completely.
Due to not being able to use their magic as much as before, Anna and Sky were killing werts but at a slower rate compared to before, therefore, their movement towards the source of the fire was almost at a snail's pace.
Commanders Chase and Lucy, though old compared to the others, were still fighting as best as they could. They both were in their early forties yet due to the strength of their magic, they were still able to move as well as a young adult.
Their attention had also been caught by the fire in the sky but they currently couldn't get to where it had come from. They were far away from the position where the fire had manifested and both of them were fighting against four-tailed werts.
After coming out as the victor in her fight against Krain, one of the two five-tailed werts in the base, Commander Lucy was no longer fighting in top condition.
She had used a lot of her strength to take down Krain and now, fighting against a four-tailed wert, she knew she couldn't kill it on her own and was simply buying time so that Commander Chase could kill the four-tailed wert he was fighting and kill hers as well.
Jake, who was simply killing any wert that got in his way, had gotten to the origin of the fire that had appeared in the sky and could see what had caused it.
A wert was using its mouth to release fire all around it and burn the soldiers that had been fighting. The wert was not just any wert, it was a five-tailed wert with the elemental magic of fire.
'Finally.' Jake thought, as the fire from the mouth of the five-tailed wert illuminated his face. 'Elemental magic. I didn't forget about the long-term quest the system gave me. I didn't forget about any of the quests.'
