Chapter 113 - A Decision Made

Inside the hotel room Sky, Sasha and Jake had checked into, all three of them were now waiting for what Anna had to say.

Anna had just come from meeting with the two Commanders that were on Soran and she had come to join the others to tell them what she had learnt.

"Okay." Anna began. "Sky was right, there are four five-tailed werts on Soran. Both of the wert bases have two, along with other werts, four-tailed, three-tailed, two-tailed, you get what I'm trying to say."

"The only thing I get is that our only problems are the five-tailed werts you keep mentioning." Jake said.

"Look at you running your little mouth like you're some type of hotshot." Anna said to Jake. "Say we remove the five-tailed werts from the bases, do you think you can take on a four-tailed wert?"

"I know I can." Jake answered, brimming with over-confidence and his arms folded across his chest. "And surely I'm not the only one in this haven who can take on a four-tailed wert."

"What is wrong with you?" Anna asked. "Where's the Jake who used to use his head? Even if you take out one of the four-tailed werts, there are at least five of them in just one base."

"That's why we're not going alone." Jake said, ignoring her question of where the former Jake was. "Anna think about it."

Moving closer to Anna and guiding her towards the second bed, Jake sat down beside her on the bed.

"If there are two commanders here then surely there should be a couple of generals as well, along with some brigadiers." Jake said. "If we take all of these guys and more, don't you think we'll be able to bring down one of the wert bases?"

"While you guys think about that," Sky said and got down from the bed, "I'm gonna go see someone."

"Who?" Jake asked.

"Why do you wanna know?" Sky asked then headed to the door. "Let me know what you guys decide on." he said, before leaving the room.

"Are you still thinking about it?" Jake asked Anna, who was yet to speak. "What's there to think about?"

"I think he has a point." Sasha said from the dining area. "We at least should be able to destroy one wert base. If not, what chance do we have to win this war?"

"Even if I do agree with what you're saying, the commanders won't agree." Anna said.

"Anna listen to me." Jake said and turned her head to look her in the eyes. "Right now, the fighting on this planet is at a standstill. From the news on the TV, I heard that the werts have stopped attacking and our guys have also returned, the ones who survived."

"Don't you think we could stop all of this if we attacked them now that they're together?" Jake asked. "Of course we will lose a lot of people, but these little fights happening is killing more of ours than theirs. Are you with me?"

"All right." Anna said, finally giving in. "But convincing the commanders won't be easy."

"Don't worry, as long as you're on our side, everything will turn out okay." Jake said, smiling on the inside after getting what he wanted.

On leaving the room, Sky left the dome-like building which was the hotel, and went to another building nearby.

Knocking on the door of the building, it was opened by a boy with glasses. He had black hair with a streak of purple at the side.

"Looks like you're back." Xavier said to Sky in his usual monotonous voice after opening the door.

"And this is the welcome I get?" Sky asked. "Are you gonna let me in or what?"

Going back into the house, Xavier went back to what he was doing before Sky knocked on the door: sitting on the couch and reading a book, titled 'Humanity's End'.

Following Xavier into the house, Sky helped himself to what he saw in the refrigerator and sat down with Xavier in the living room.

"Did you find him?" Xavier asked Sky while continuing to read.

"Sort of." Sky replied.

"Sort of?" Xavier said. "Can you please get your legs off my table?" he said, peering through his glasses at Sky's legs.

Ignoring what Xavier had said about his legs, Sky said to him "He kind of found us. But he's here in the haven, along with Sasha."

"Sasha? One of Catherine's friends?" Xavier asked, now closing the book and dropping it on the armrest of the couch.

"Yeah. She disappeared with Jake a month ago." Sky answered.

"Did Catherine's death affect him in any way?" Xavier asked, his expression giving away no sign of whatever was going through his mind.

"I guess so. He's not really the same as he was a month ago. But none of us are, are we?" Sky said and ran a hand through his blond hair as he thought about how hard he had been training with Anna in the past month.

"I'm still the same." Xavier said.

"Are you?" Sky asked. "A month ago your shadow magic wasn't as strong as it is now, was it? Anyway I gotta go." he said after reading the message he just received from Anna. "See you later."

Moving towards the door, Sky turned around to ask Xavier a quick question before he left. "Are you gonna come back to Veda with us?"

"I don't know." Xavier replied. "I think I'm beginning to like it here."

"See ya." Sky said then left the house and headed back to the hotel room where Jake, Sasha and Anna were waiting for him.

"What'd I miss?" Sky asked when he got back to the hotel room.

"We're going to have a little chat with the commanders." Jake said, smiling at Sky.

"What did you guys decide to do?" Sky asked.

"Buckle up little brother, we're bringing down a Wert base." Jake said.
