Opening his eyes, Kevin saw himself back in the training room and took off the helmet on his head. "You could have let the fight last longer you know?" Kevin said to Jake.
Also taking off the helmet, Jake replied "That wasn't long enough for you?"
"No it wasn't."
"I didn't even use magic." Jake said. "How long do you think that fight would have lasted if I had used magic?"
"You should have at least taken it easy with the punches and the kicks." Kevin complained.
"Stop being a baby Kevin." Anna said. "You lost so you'll have to take a seat. Don't worry, there are fifteen students here."
"So? What does that mean?" Kevin asked.
"It means, there are going to be seven fights and one student left, so someone who has fought before will have to fight again because of the remaining student." Anna explained.
"And that student could be me." Kevin said, now understanding what Anna was saying.
"Exactly. So keep praying, you never know, a miracle might happen." Anna said.
"All I need Miss Anna, is for you to say it." Kevin said. "Once you say I'll get to fight again, that's what will happen."
"How sure are you?" Anna asked.
"Very sure." Kevin answered.
"Okay, what do I get for saying it?"
"Hello? A fight is supposed to be going on now." Jake said. Looking at the television, Jake called the names of the next students who were going to be fighting. "Max and Lilah, what are you guys waiting for? Come over here and take your helmets."
Walking forward to collect his helmet, Max said to Lilah "I hope you don't mind if I don't go easy on you, I really want a nice spot on the leaderboard."
"It's okay." Lilah said. "I prefer it if you don't go easy on me, that way, if I win I'll know it was through my own efforts."
Putting the helmets on their heads, Max and Lilah saw themselves in an area surrounded with huge trees.
Looking around, Max couldn't see Lilah anywhere. He kept moving and turning, trying to see if he could spot her somewhere until he felt something hit him squarely on the back of his head.
Using all the strength she could muster in her body, Lilah had stopped levitating and had come down to the ground with a punch on Max's head from behind a tree. Seeing Max bend over and hold the back of his head, Lilah sent a kick to his head.
Noticing the leg coming to his head, Max immediately used both of his hands to grab onto it and pull Lilah to the ground. Still holding onto Lilah's leg, Max used all his strength to throw her as hard as he could into a nearby tree.
Seeing herself headed for a tree, Lilah quickly used her magic to try stabilizing herself before she could hit the tree then levitated into the air. Flying back towards Max, Lilah threw out a punch aiming for his head but using his magic, Max had blocked the punch with his force field.
Losing her balance in the air after unexpectedly hitting the force field, Lilah fell to the ground.
Not relenting, Max ran to meet Lilah and kept kicking her on the head.
"Shouldn't he stop?" a student asked. "She has already passed out."
"The fight doesn't end until a fighter is dead, not unconscious." Anna said to the students. "That's why he hasn't won yet."
"But why? Isn't it enough that the person is unconscious?" another student asked.
"In some cases it could be enough, but think of a situation where you knockout a person and the person gets up a few minutes later without you knowing. What do you think happens then?" Anna asked.
"The person could come back to kill you." a student answered.
"Exactly, that's why killing the person is the best option. And we're not fighting against humans, so don't kill humans. This is only a training session, we fight against Werts."
With Max winning the fight against Lilah, two more fights took place and now it was remaining one student who hadn't fought.
"Have you prayed hard enough Kevin?" Anna asked. "This is where we'll find out."
"I have to get that chance to fight again." Kevin said. "And this time, against somebody I have a chance of beating."
Watching as the arena from the previous fight faded away on the television, the names of the students participating in the next fight came into view.
"Yes!" Kevin shouted as he saw his name on the television screen. "Looks like you were right Miss Anna, a miracle did happen."
"What if you lose again?" Jake asked Kevin.
"That's not going to happen man, just wait and watch. I WILL advance to the next round." Kevin said as he pumped his fist.
"Okay future finalist, we've heard you. Now come take your helmet." Anna said.
Going forward to take his helmet, Kevin looked at the girl he was going to be fighting and winked before he put the helmet on his head. After the split second of his sight going blank, Kevin saw himself standing on a large square-shaped board and looking round, he could see multiple types of the same board not too far from each other floating in the air.
Seeing his opponent standing on one of the boards behind him, Kevin went to the edge of the board he was standing on and looked down. "That's going to be a nasty fall down." he said as he saw the long and sharp spikes on the ground below. "Let's do this." Jumping to the next board, Kevin made sure he stayed far away from the edge.
When he finally got to the board his opponent was on, Kevin didn't waste time and immediately charged forward. "Sorry, but I won't hold back just because you're a girl."
"You think you can beat me because you're a boy?" the girl asked as she avoided a kick from Kevin and threw out a punch.
"I don't need to beat you." Kevin said as he grabbed the girl's hand and threw her to the floor. "I just need to throw you overboard. Get it? Overboard. Because you know, we're on a board."
"That wasn't bad." the girl said as she got to her feet. "But you should be focusing on the fight."
"That wouldn't be necessary." 'Please work.' Kevin thought as he looked at the girl running towards him, closed his eyes and used his magic.
Now seeing his body standing on the board with its eyes closed, Kevin said "Good, it worked." Looking at his hands, he could see he was in the body of the girl who had been running towards him a moment ago. "Time to win this." Running to the edge of the board in the girl's body, Kevin jumped down with his arms spread wide open.
