I stayed up studying. When you image that, I wonder if you think that I am disciplined or uptight. Wouldn't it be much better to be with my friend. Maybe that's true. But you can't always be thinking about the present. Sometimes you have to look back into the past and prepare for the future.
Also, there is another reason that I chose to study rather than sleep. It's just a feeling, but there seemed to be something unusual about her visiting me at this time. Even more unusual than some of the other things that she's done. I wonder why she wanted to see me so desperately even though she's so tired. Couldn't she have met with me tomorrow or at school? Why so suddenly at this time?
Despite all of the strange things that Kimiko did, I don't imagine any of it is meaningless. Even if she didn't really kill anyone, I'm sure there is meaning behind her words and actions. That's why I stayed awake, watching Kimiko while the time passes slowly on the clock by my desk.
As the late night ended turned into early morning began, a storm grew loud outside. With long deep claps and flashes of light through the window. Even so, I stared to feel drowsy. As I was about to sleep with my head resting on my hand, I heard the sound of knocking loud even in the storm.
"They are finally here…"
Kimiko didn't get up off the bed and just said that in a sleepy voice.
"Who's here?"
"The police."
The police! Why would the police come here at this time of night? And why did Kimiko know that?
"They were at my house earlier."
"Is this about…"
I stopped myself from saying it.
"Thank you, for everything."
Kimiko rolled off the bed and headed to the front door.
"Aren't you going to change?"
"That's right, sorry…"
In her sleepiness, Kimiko forgot all about her embarrassment and started to strip naked in front of me. As her clothes fell to the floor, I noticed a scar in front of her crotch. It didn't look like it was from any surgical procedure. And at first I didn't understand what it meant, but soon it became clear.
"Ki- …kun?"
What Kimiko said back then 'The knife belonged to the person that I killed.' It would only make sense that you would want to kill the person that did this.
"…That's right, I'm a boy. I won't ask you to forgive me…"
Forgive? What had he done to ask anyone for forgiveness?
"Ki-kun, don't go."
"They are not going to let me stay here."
"What if I don't see you again?"
"Aah~ You ask annoying questions don't you?"
Kimiko turned around to face me. He has on the cool look that he often wore at school. Filled with confidence, while his eyes are cold and dark. I wanted to feel assured, but I couldn't help crying. Kimiko turned away from me and I watched her go and unlock the door.
The door flew open into the storm and a strong wind blew rain into the room. At the front door, there is a large figure.
"Riyu?"
Riyu? Before anything more could be said. The figure wet and dripping in rain wrapped his arms around Kimiko and kissed him. Is this some new kind of new police investigation technique or something?! Kimiko looked surprised at first, but then didn't resist.
It took me longer than it should have to work out who the figure was, but with his body and the name 'Riyu', there is only one person that I know that matched that.
"Riyuzaki?"
Not just any Riyuzaki, it's dark Riyuzaki. The one who supposedly couldn't experience feelings. Then why did he come here? How did he know to come here? What is his relationship with Kimiko? No, I guess that part I could work out…
"Riyu… No, you shouldn't…"
Kimiko tried to say something in between gasping for breath. Her cheeks are red and it looks like she is crying, although it's hard to tell with all the water. But it didn't look like Riyuzaki had any intention to stop.
Kimiko slapped him in the face, the sound was it almost made me jump… Almost. Riyuzaki seemed to finally get the message and backed off.
"Shut the door first."
Riyuzaki did he was instructed.
"How many times did I tell you not to come?"
"I'm sorry, I had to see you."
"Aah, you are always like this, even when we were children. When you are in that form, you act on your feelings without thinking."
Riyuzaki acting on his feelings… No, even before that. These two are childhood friends?
