After Marvin was brought home that evening, his parents try to persuade him to come to stay with them for two days, but he refused and insisted on staying at his house. That night nanny made him some chicken soup and ask Elora to take it to his room, she hesitates, and nanny plead with her. She took the tray of chicken soup and left it on Marvin's doorstep, she could hear the laughter coming from him, and Kevin, she hesitates for a while and then knock, Marvin ushers her in, she opened the door and enter.
"Nanny asks me to bring this for you". she said and place it on the shelf beside him on the bed.
" thank you". he said and she turns to leave, but he stop her." who is going to feed me?".he asked and she turned to him confusedly.
"Excuse me! How is that my concern, if you can't feed yourself, at least Kevin is here, he can do it".
" I don't think so, I was about to leave anyway". he said and then stood up and left.
"I can't feed myself, am still very weak". he said and Elora sighed.
" you can call one of the maids to help you out with it".
"but you can help me out with it they must be tired now, I don't want to stress them, I know nanny specifically ask you to feed me". he said smiling.
" No, she did not"
"She did"
"No, she didn't!".
" She did".
"you know what I can't argue with you right now and I have a lot of things to worry about". she said while sighing.
" Okay, help me out, please!" he said calmly and she rolled her eyes.
"Seriously! You don't have Wicklow on your hands that you can't feed yourself".
" duh, am sick".
"Even patients in a critical condition eat by themselves without no one assisting them".
" Well, I am not them".
"then start acting like them". she yelled.
" you are so mean, if you are a doctor, no patient will want to associate with you".
"That's why I can never be a doctor". she said nonchalantly.
" if you help me out with this, I will know you have forgiven me".
"I never told you I have forgiven you".
" yeah, do this by forgiving me".
"but I don't want to".
"Why? If I can remember I forgive you when you accused me of attacking you".
"yeah, and if I can remember, you made me work for it, how about I pay you back ". she smirks and Marvin becomes a little bit uncomfortable. " but I won't be heartless like you, if you want my forgiveness, you will have to go to everyone you have wronged and apologize to them with gifts".she said and stare at her.
"Really?".
" yes, if you do that and change your ways, you will have my forgiveness".
"Okay fine, I accept, can you feed me now?". he said and she hesitated for a while.
" fine, only because you are sick". she said frowning and then move to sit beside him on the bed and started feeling him. meanwhile, Nanny and Marvin have been eavesdropping at the doorstep.
"wow Nanny, Marvin agrees to her demand". Kevin said quietly.
" yes, I can't believe she doing it, so, he can be friendly like this".
"This good news". he said and they left.
Two days later, Marvin walked into the school gate, he saw Mr. Duke standing beside the gate staring at students as they were trooping in one after the other.
" This is it Marvin". he sighs and walks towards him with a warm smile. "Good Morning Mr. Duke". He greeted cheerfully and Mr Duke stare surprisingly at him. "Hope you slept well?".
"um, what is going on?is everything okay?" he sputtered
"yes, I brought something for you". he brought out a little box design in a Rainbow color." this is for you, I hope you accept it, is my way of saying sorry for being mean and rude to you, hope you accept my apologies". he said politely with his head bowed to the ground. mr Duke became speechless and hesitated for a while, he looks up to see how sincere he was.
"I don't know what to say," he said and tears fill his eyes, then he moved closer to him and placed a hand on his shoulder." you don't need to apologize, my dear, I have no grudges against you, you are like a son to me ". he sniff and Marvin raise his face to see tears in his eyes, he suddenly felt pity and regret his actions. " am so happy to see this day".
"Am sorry".
" is okay, I appreciate your kindness and this amazing gift". he smiles.
"thank you". he said happily and walk away, mr duke stared after him. meanwhile, Elora was staring at them from afar and was surprised, quickly she ran to mr duke.
" Did he just do that?" she asked surprisedly.
"yes, I'm shocked as you are, did he hit his head or something?".
" no, I thought he was joking when he accepted to apologize to everyone that he had done wrong ". she replied.
" you made him do this?" he asked confusedly and Elora nod her head and explain the reasons to him, he went stunned. "Woah, this is quite amazing, the Almighty Marvin is changing". he said happily and the warning bell rang.
" see you later mr duke". she rushed inside and was surprised to see students gathered in the hallway Marvin was standing in front of them with another student pointing a little box to him and her head bowed to the ground.
"I heard you weren't feeling fine, so brought this for you". the girl said calmly but fear could be noticed in her voice, all students were staring and waiting for Marvin's reaction.
" um," he took the box from her and she raise her face to him. "thank you". he said and everyone gasped including the girl standing in front of him with her two legs shaking in fear, then he opened the box and saw pancakes inside. "wow! amazing, I love it". he smile and the girl brightened up her face.
" you do?" she sputtered.
"yes". he place one in his mouth. " it tastes exactly how I wanted it, did you make this?"
"no, my mom did" she replied
"wow, tell your mom that she makes delicious pancakes and I love it". he smiles and the girl returns the smile with tears in her eyes.
" Thank you so much for accepting this, at first I thought you will be mad at me or even throw it away, you don't know what this means to me". she sob and quickly hug him right, meanwhile students were making a video of it on air, and there was a lot of amazing comments and likes. she pulled away from him and sniff. "am sorry if I overreacted".
" no you didn't, are you feeling all better now?".he asked and she nodded suddenly the other students brought out the gifts that they have been wanted to present to him, but when they saw the way he appreciate her gift, they decided to try their luck, Marvin was amazed at the same time, his hands were filled with a lot of gifts and cards. "thank you all for the amazing present, I love it and I appreciate all of them". he said smiling and they smile back at him, and the final bell rang and they all went to their different classroom.
" you want help with that?" Elora said from behind, Marvin turns in her direction.
"yeah sure", he place all of them in her hands and she went surprised to see that he was about to leave her behind.
" excuse me! where are you going?"
"to the class of course".
" And how do you expect me to handle all these gifts?".
"you said you wanted to help me with it, so I agree". he smiled, and Elora scoff.
" I ask if you need help with it, I didn't ask you to handover all to me, how do you expect me to handle this many gifts, they are too heavy for one person".
"Fine, I will help with some of it, I don't want the principal to see us here". he said and took some of the gifts, they were about to walk away when the principal stop them, and they curse themselves.
" What are you two doing out here, when classes are going on? and where did you two get those presents from and where are you taking them to?" he asked and they stare confusedly at him wondering which one of the questions they should answer from.
"w-w-w" Elora sputtered.
"cat got your tongue?" he asked staring straight into their eyes.
"We were about to head to class," Marvin said.
"with those presents? where did they come from?"
"they are from my fans and she was just helping me out with it".
" oh really? You two know wondering around the school premises when class is going on is against the rules and there is a punishment attached to it?".he said and Elora sighed.
"now what". she said quietly and the principal move a little closer to them.
" We are sorry sir, it wasn't intentional". Marvin said and the principal went surprised to hear him apologize sincerely which he never do.
"did you-" he got interrupted by a phone call when he saw the caller, he became more shocked and he gulped nervously, he try to pick up when Marvin stop him.
"Please don't answer that call". he said and they stare at him quickly. " I know it is my grandfather that is calling, please don't answer it".
"What?" the principal said, "you know how your grandfather is if I don't answer his call". he said with fear in his voice.
" I know, and I also know the reason why he is calling you at this moment". he place the gifts on the ground. "let me talk to him instead". he took the phone from him and pick it up". hello grandfather.....of course, I know you are the one calling, do you have to call whenever am being held to be punished, how do you even know what is happening in my school?do you have me being monitored?.... I broke the school rules and I must be disciplined for it, please don't interfere with it again, if I don't take corrections from my teachers, how will I learn?.... Fine!" he gave the principal back the phone and he talk to Mr. Monk on the phone for a while and then hung up. "sir, am sorry, let me take the punishment, she has nothing to do with this". he added, and Elora stare at him.
" if you say so, come to my office later during lunch break". he walks away.
"Are you sure about this?" Elora asked.
"yes, let's take this to my locker"
"okay". they left.
During the lunch period, Marvin was seen in the garden working and weeding out the bad leaf, all the students in the canteen wide mouth in surprise staring at him from the window.
" is that Marvin weeding in the garden?"1st students asked and there was murmuring among them.
"so is true of what I heard". Nathan said and Elora sighed.
" yeah".
"I heard he wrote an apology letter for all the teachers and also gave each of them a gift including Mr. Duke". one of the male students said and the rest went amused.
" wow, that's new of him, who could have thought of that, the Almighty Marvin feared by all is now all cool and friendly". Another student said.
"I do admire him a lot, I have always wished to be like him, I won't lie to you, he is my role model". Another student said and they chuckle.
"So, you are saying to us now that you like him being mean and rude?" Elora asked.
"Not really, I like the new him now, but he inspired me a lot with the way he talks, high esteem, and also fearless ". he said.
" well he is right, Marvin is not that bad, let's just say is just his ways and the way his grandfather trained him". Another student added and they sighed.
"What did you do to him, that makes him look like this?". Nathan asked facing Elora, she look at him confusedly.
" How do you mean? I didn't do anything to him, I just think of what was right". she said and sip from her juice. She stare back at Marvin in the garden who was sweating so hard. Not too long after, two female students rushed to him one was holding bottled water and the other was with a sandwich.
"um, hey Marvin". 1st student said smiling and he raised his face to them. " we brought you something". she added
"Really?". he asked
" yes, we thought you could be hungry after working so we decided to bring food for you". 2nd girl said
"Thank you". he took it from them, quickly open the water, and drank from it. " so refreshing". they smile.
"do you need help?" 1st students asked.
"no, there will be no need for that, am done with it already, but thanks anyway".
" you are welcome" they chorus and left happily, Marvin stares after them and smiles. meanwhile, Elora has been staring at them.
"I hope this is not one of your tricks Marvin, everyone loves the new you, please don't change back". she said to herself and sighed, then she meet Marvin's gaze and quickly turns to her food.
