Chapter 2 - Outside…

The morning air was brisk and full and a little bit windy. Loose leaves went here and there with the wind, cars were now parked in the parking stalls. Mama Keke thought she saw a man that resembled one of her primary school teachers. Keke, on the other hand, could not help complaining and dragging her sluggish feet behind her. "Mum! I think this bag is too heavy" she finally shouted and without much hesitation, continued, "Maybe aunty could help us carry it."

Mama Zulu tried her hardest not to feel insulted. Mama Keke yelled back a soft-spoken insult at the little tramp and finally ended it up with a loud cry, "Step on it!" Mama Zulu replied, " it's okay. She's just a kid." Mama Keke retorted, "Yeah, whatever."

Finally, they managed to get to the yellow Peugeot that had Mama Zulu's plate number written on it and Keke hurriedly ran into the left passenger side leaving the half open backpack outside the car with clothes halfway out of it. She let out a huge, glorious shout, "finally!"

Mama Zulu said to her friend, "Mum, do you need any assistance with settling the baby inside?" Mama Keke responded, "No dear, I got this but please if you don't mind, would you help me pick up my bag from the floor?"

Mama Zulu looked back to notice the backpack in its situation and responded, "Uhm…, sure! Why not? Just make sure the new baby is okay. I got the rest! Mama Keke let out a satisfied yawn and settled in with her new-born daughter . Keke was already deep into her iPad game, but nobody even had time to notice her nor complain. The baby's cries constantly filled the air and was too loud to complain over. Eventually, they got driving. Mama Keke could not believe it was already almost a whole day gone since she first laid her beautiful eyes on her now fragile little one. Her Miracle laid softly yet gently in her cradle arms. She could not believe she could feel like this again after such a long time. It felt like she had been dead somehow for so long and now; just now did she just suddenly gain the breath of a new air. Hmm….. she sighed. Mama Zulu looked back at her friend through the back mirror of her Peugeot and could not help holding back a tear that had just dropped. She sniffed. Both women locked eyes in a quick second and just hastily proceeded to look elsewhere at something else. Keke was lying happily on her mother's side; the look of contentment masking any other look or feelings of rejection she had been having for the longest time.

Finally, we are now complete. The thought had been keeping the new mom really happy this morning. Considering the drama she had just had to endure, nothing else could replace her joy now. Papa Keke would be most grateful for this one now, she thought. She let out a new sigh, braced her shoulder towards Keke, and fell slowly asleep.
