The sides of Miraki's temples start to sweat. Esther had a mischievous smile clinging to her lips. "How did you even end up with my dummy little brother Mimi?" Esther asked. Her voice was filled with excitement and joy.
"Well, um….. we.. we just met at my apartment." she stuttered, and her face flushed even more "Oh, it was to get the kids." she immediately reasoned out.
Miraki had been well-studied and intelligent in her studies but…. no amount of books had prepared her for the current moment she faced.
"You should have told me you dummy!!!" Esther screamed at the top of her lungs and hugged Mimi. Almost choking the life out of her.
Miraki finally let her breath out. She was glad she gave a well enough realistic reasoning.
"I have been wanting to match make you guys but who knew my brother would fulfil a wish of mine" she giggled while the couple simply nodded.
She did mention her brother's name a lot around Miraki but she never realized that Esther had planned to match make them. Luke lazily stared at his sister. She seemed happier than she ever was in her marriage.
"Just wait till Jacky and Orion know about it," she smirked. 'That would be trouble' Miraki remarked in her mind. It surely would, the boys clanged to her whenever they met her. If they become family, they might never leave her.
They ate a few snacks with a few jokes said between Esther and Miraki. Esther expressed her guilt of not being there to help her friend with the engagement as she would be out of the country.
" I shall pray for your grandmother." Esther hugged Miraki who was the same size as her. Her arms somehow, much tight around Mimi, not wanting to leave.
Reluctantly she met Miraki's eyes and said "Have a few supplements I sent to your home for her.
"Thank you," she said back.
Esther whispered, "Take care of Mimi." to Luke.
'Phew, that was a close call' Miraki sighted. She didn't want Esther to know that she had agreed to be his fiancé for money.
"Well, you should try to learn how to act. The only reason she believed it was because it was you." that's the reason why I chose you.
Luke knew that his sister liked her little friend Miraki. It was why she always asked him to take his nephews away, yet he never did.
Luke had worn a navy blue suit that complimented him. His hair was neatly combed, and his grim face held little to no emotions.
"Bid your farewell to your friend, you shall be living with me tomorrow." he got up from the couch and was about head back to his desk when he heard her meekly speak "Excuse me, director."
"It's Luke for you from now on except at work" She immediately nodded her head, just like the presence of a rabbit next to a lion.
Gathering her courage" she continued "Um. Luke. So, are we truly living together? We don't need to share the same bed, right? at least?'
"We will be," he said with a smirk, and she could surely feel herself fainting to learn about that. No, in her entire life, Miraki had never had a boyfriend.
She had a very hectic schedule and since she lived away from home, she mainly gave all of her time to her education.
In her university days, she would be busy working, so she didn't have many friends.
"And how will I explain to my friends? Do I have the right to keep on working?' she felt mortified. What reasoning would she even give for her shifting? Miraki felt perplexed.
"just say you are on an extended vacation to visit your grandmother," he said nonchalantly. With that said Miraki was dismissed, and she walked back to her work.
The workers all gossiped at her presence. Since, the last time someone was called to the director's presence they were all fired.
