Chapter 78 - Retaking London Part 3

At the shoreline, three soldiers manage to crawl out of the water. Nodding to S3bastain, we both rush forward towards them. As they collapse on the ground, I grab one, using my shoulder as support as S3bastian grabs the two others.

A rumbling in the distance tells us that the Titan approaches, which hastens our process. Our actions pull the leader out of his trance.

"Rockets on that target. NOW!" He shouts. Fearfully, five rocket men come forward, taking aim at the hulking figure slowly moving towards us. Five missiles zip off, each one exploding on the Titan's chest. It continues on as if nothing hit it.

If the Titan wasn't enough, the surface of the water rippled. OR-14 and Bastion units began to rise from the water, opening fire on us.

"Retreat!" Our squad leader wisely decides, as the soldiers make a break for the nearest buildings in fear. Once everyone makes it in, me and S3bastian drop our guys as we bar the door. Through the commotion as some soldiers and panicking and muttering nonsense, I hear one of the guys we dropped saying something.

Crouching, I check to see if he needs any medical attention, but he grabs my shoulder.

"They were everywhere. The call came. From the east and south." He manages to say before he passes out. A small quake makes us look out the window to see the Titan heading towards the center of the city.

"So that was the plan. Bait us in as they get reinforcements from Germany and France. Britain brought everything they have here. At this rate, the risk of all our forces getting wiped here is high. If they fail, they'll lose all progress gained and cities will fall with barely any resistance." S3bastian explains.

Still looking at through the window, my mind processes what he said and tries to formulate a plan. S3bastian sees me thinking of a plan, he comes over to offer his own suggestions.

"I can see the steam coming out of your ears from your brain overworking." He says, but I ignore him. He probably already knew what I was thinking. With our options limited, there were only two real decisions that could be made.

"You go stall the Titan from the omnium long enough for the team to deal with it, while I go stop the omnics from reinforcing the rest in the city." I order.

"Finally. The Supreme Overlord S3bastian will get his turn for glory. Tremble, mortals, at my power." He says.

Turning away from the window, I look to find the soldiers, who once were in a miserable state, looking at me with a new resolve. They heard our conversation and knew; it was do or die.

"Those are our options, I can guarantee that S3bastian here is capable of at least stalling the Titan, but as far as destroying it, that's up to chance. Those who don't go with him, will have to hold off thousands of omnics before they reach our other troops in the city."

The soldiers divide themselves strategically on who goes where. Three of the rocket men will follow S3bastian with soldiers more suited for speed. While the rest would come with me, geared to provide heavy resistance. A few words are said among the soldiers, as time is of the essence, as we separate.

As S3bastians group chases down the Titan, we go to outmaneuver the new omnic forces. It was all too easy to outrun their slow-moving frames, but the real challenge was going to be their numbers. There were thousands of them.

Knowing that the other troops were headed towards Buckingham Palace, our group needed to split once again. Some would go to hold in case any omnics were still in the river, while we would engage those who took to the streets.

Of the fifty that we started out with, thirty came with me and the rest with S3bastian. With our group split again, there was only fifteen now. Rigging traps where they're sure to appear, we get ourselves set up. A majority of the troops were on the roofs of ruined buildings, while some remained on the street along with me. Then we waited.

In the distance, we could hear it. The clopping of the Bastion's growing closer. Peeking over the car that I was using as cover, I could see them in the distance. Numerous OR-14 bots were in the front, with Bastions behind them, then further in the back, I could just make out the ATW Huntsmen. The soldiers, who saw what I saw, shifted nervously, maybe regretting their decision.

It was too late to back out now, as the omnics got even closer, almost walking to the point until we agreed to engage. After the first three rows of OR-14 bots pass it, I nod, then a soldier presses a button. A couple of meters from us, explosions rang out, blasting the omnics, reducing them to just scraps. The nearby buildings' foundation gives out, crashing on the rest of the OR bots.

As they swing their bodies to and fro, trying to identify a threat, I come out of hiding from the car.

"For King and country!" I shout without thinking about it. The nearby soldiers echo my words, opening fire on the Bastion units. Taking a deep breath, I charge towards the enemy.
